सिंगापुर टैक्स भुगतान के लिए चेहरे की पहचान करने वाला बना विश्व पहला देश

• सिंगापुर नेशनल आइडेंटिफिकेशन डेटाबेस में फेशियल वेरिफिकेशन अटैच करने वाला दुनिया का पहला देश बन गया है। इस फ़ंक्शन को “SingPass Face Verification” नाम डिया गया है। इस तकनीक को शहर की राज्य की सिंगपास डिजिटल पहचान योजना में शामिल किया जा रहा है, जिसमें 400 से कम ऑनलाइन सेवाओं तक पहुँच की पेशकश की गई है, जिसमें टैक्स डिक्लेरेशन और पब्लिक हाउसिंग एप्लीकेशन शामिल हैं।
• सिंगापुर के अधिकारियों के अनुसार, प्रौद्योगिकी यह सुनिश्चित करने में मदद करेगी कि सही व्यक्ति वास्तव में उनकी स्क्रीन के सामने मौजूद हो, बजाय किसी तस्वीर, वीडियो, रिप्ले रिकॉर्डिंग या एक डीपफेक के।

ओडिशा के सीएम नवीन पटनायक ने 'मो बिद्युत' पोर्टल का किया शुभारंभ

• ओडिशा के मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक ने वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंस के माध्यम से बिजली उपभोक्ता सर्विस पोर्टल ''मो बिद्युत'' और एक मोबाइल ऐप लॉन्च किया है।
• द्विभाषी ऑनलाइन बिजली एकीकृत उपभोक्ता सेवा पोर्टल www.mobidyut.com ऊर्जा विभाग द्वारा विकसित किया गया है और राज्य सरकार की पहल 5T (Teamwork, Transparency, Technology, Time leading to Transformation) के तहत जनता को समर्पित की गई है। इसके माध्यम से लोग अब कुशल, समयबद्ध और पारदर्शी ऑनलाइन सेवा का लाभ उठा सकेंगे।

 उत्तर प्रदेश ने साल 2019 में घरेलू सैलानियों को आकर्षित करने में किया टॉप

• पर्यटन मंत्रालय द्वारा जारी भारतीय पर्यटन सांख्यिकी (Indian Tourism Statistics) 2020 के अनुसार, साल 2019 में राज्य में आने वाले सबसे अधिक घरेलू पर्यटकों को आकर्षित करने में उत्तर प्रदेश ने शीर्ष स्थान प्राप्त किया है।
• वर्ष 2019 में लगभग 53.6 करोड़ घरेलू पर्यटकों ने उत्तर प्रदेश का दौरा किया, जो कुल यात्रियों का 23.1% हिस्सा है। इसके बाद तमिलनाडु (21.3%) दूसरे और आंध्र प्रदेश (10.2%) तीसरे स्थान पर आया है।

तमिल विदेशी यात्रियों को आकर्षित करने में शीर्ष स्थान रहा

• तमिलनाडु विदेशी पर्यटकों के मामले में शीर्ष स्थान पर है, जहां लगभग 68 लाख विदेशियों ने राज्य का दौरा किया।
• इस सूची में महाराष्ट्र (55 लाख से अधिक) दूसरे स्थान पर है जबकि उत्तर प्रदेश (47 लाख से अधिक) ने 2019 में आने वाले विदेशी पर्यटकों को आकर्षित करने में तीसरा स्थान हासिल किया है।
• गोवा 2019 में 9 लाख से अधिक विदेशी पर्यटकों के साथ इस सूची में आखिरी स्थान पर रहा।

 RPF ने एपी एक्सप्रेस में की 'मेरी सहेली' पहल की शुरूआत

• विशाखापत्तनम के रेलवे सुरक्षा बल (Railway Protection Force) ने महिला यात्रियों को सुरक्षा प्रदान करने के लिए AP Express (विशाखापत्तनम नई दिल्ली) रेल सेवा में 'मेरी सहेली' नामक एक नई पहल शुरू की है।
• मेरी सहेली ’का मुख्य उद्देश्य में ट्रेनों में यात्रा करने वाली महिला यात्रियों को सुरक्षा प्रदान करना है।
• आरपीएफ की महिला सब इंस्पेक्टर और महिला कांस्टेबल की एक टीम महिला कोच सहित सभी कोचों में प्रवेश करेगी और महिला यात्रियों की पहचान करेगी, जो ट्रेन में अकेले यात्रा कर रही होंगी।
• इन यात्रियों को यात्रा के दौरान बरती जाने वाली सभी सावधानियों के बारे में बताया जाएगा और किसी समस्या के मामले में संपर्क करने के लिए RPF के संपर्क नंबर 182 देने के अलावा मदद के बारे में सूचित किया जाएगा।

नासा ने चंद्रमा पर 4G LTE मोबाइल नेटवर्क स्थापित करने के लिए नोकिया का किया चयन

• नासा द्वारा चंद्रमा पर पहला सेलुलर नेटवर्क स्थापित करने के लिए नोकिया का चयन किया गया है। नासा का लक्ष्य 2024 तक मनुष्यों को चंद्रमा पर ले जाना और अपने आर्टेमिस कार्यक्रम के तहत दीर्घकालिक समय तक रहने के लिए खुदाई करना है। अंतरिक्ष में पहला वायरलेस ब्रॉडबैंड संचार प्रणाली 2022 के अंत में लुनार सतह पर स्थापित किया जाएगा।
• नेटवर्क खुद को कॉन्फ़िगर करेगा और चंद्रमा पर 4 जी / एलटीई संचार प्रणाली स्थापित करेगा, नोकिया ने कहा, हालांकि इसका उद्देश्य अंततः 5 जी पर स्विच करना होगा। साथ ही वह टेक्सास स्थित निजी अंतरिक्ष यान डिजाइन कंपनी, Intuitive Machines के साथ अपने चंद्र लैंडर पर चंद्रमा तक उपकरण पहुंचाने के लिए साझेदारी करेगा।

 नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर ने की "आयुष्मान सहकार" योजना की शुरूआत

• केंद्रीय कृषि मंत्री नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर द्वारा "आयुष्मान सहकार" योजना लॉन्च की गई है। यह योजना देश में स्वास्थ्य सुविधाओं के निर्माण में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने के लिए सहकारी समितियों की सहायता करने का एक अनूठा प्रयास है।
• आयुष्मान सहकारी योजना राष्ट्रीय सहकारी विकास निगम (National Cooperative Development Corporation) द्वारा तैयार की गई है।
• एनसीडीसी आने वाले वर्षों में सावधि ऋणों को 10 हजार करोड़ रुपये तक बढ़ाएगी।
• एनसीडीसी की योजना केंद्र सरकार द्वारा किसान कल्याण गतिविधियों को मजबूत करने की दिशा में एक कदम होगा।
• एनसीडीसी की आयुष्मान सहकार योजना का उद्देश्य मुख्य रूप से ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं में सुधार लाना है।

IIT खड़गपुर ने C-19 के लिए विकसित की 'COVIRAP' तकनीक

• IIT खड़गपुर के शोधकर्ताओं ने ‘COVIRAP’ नामक एक नई C-19 डायग्नोस्टिक टेस्ट तकनीक विकसित की है, जिसकी प्रक्रिया काफी आसान और सस्ती भी है और जो एक घंटे के अन्दर रिपोर्ट देने में सक्षम है। इस COVIRAP तकनीक को भारतीय चिकित्सा अनुसंधान परिषद (ICMR) द्वारा C-19 का पता लगाने में सक्षम माना गया है और इसे एक अधिकृत ICMR प्रयोगशाला द्वारा रोगी के नमूनों के साथ कठिन टेस्टिंग के बाद मंजूरी प्रदान की गई है।
• यह टेस्टिंग तकनीक प्रमुख RT-PCR टेस्टों के साथ तुलनीय है, और जो आम लोगों को सिर्फ 500 रुपये की लागत में परीक्षण में सक्षम बनाएगी।
• COVIRAP एक क्यूबॉइड-आकार का पोर्टेबल परीक्षण उपकरण है जो एक घंटे में परिणाम दे सकता है, जिससे यह दूर-दराज और ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में C-19 स्क्रीनिंग को बढ़ाने के लिए एक प्रभावी उपकरण बनाता है।

राष्ट्रीय पुलिस स्मृति दिवस: 21 अक्टूबर

• भारत में प्रतिवर्ष 21 अक्टूबर को राष्ट्रीय पुलिस स्मृति दिवस मनाया जाता है। यह दिन उन बहादुर पुलिसकर्मियों को याद करने और उनके सम्मान में मनाया जाता है, जिन्होंने अपना जीवन अपने कर्तव्यों का पालन करने में लगा दिया।
• पुलिस स्मृति दिवस 21 अक्टूबर 1959 को लद्दाख के हॉट स्प्रिंग में भारी हथियारों से लैस चीनी सैनिकों द्वारा बीस भारतीय सैनिकों पर हमला किया गया था, जिसमें दस भारतीय पुलिसकर्मी शहीद हो गए थे और सात को बंदी बना लिया गया था। उस दिन के बाद से हर साल 21 अक्टूबर को शहीदों के सम्मान में पुलिस स्मृति दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है।

• प्रतिवर्ष 22 अक्टूबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर International Stuttering Awareness Day अर्थात हकलाने के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस मनाया जाता है। यह दिन उन लाखों लोगों के बारे में सार्वजनिक रूप से जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए मनाया जाता है, जो हकलाते है या जिन्हें बोलते समय हकलाने की समस्या होती है।
• इस वर्ष का विषय है “Journey of Words – Resilience and Bouncing Back”.
• इंटरनेशनल स्टटरिंग अवेयरनेस डे, ISAD, की शुरुआत माइकल सुगरमैन, ओकलैंड, कैलिफोर्निया द्वारा (22 अक्टूबर) 1998 में की गई थी। ISAD एसएलपी और उपभोक्ताओं के बीच बढ़ते गठजोड़ को पहचानता है, जो एक-दूसरे से सीख रहे हैं और साझा करने, समर्थन देने, और एक दूसरे और आम जनता को शिक्षित करने के लिए काम कर रहे हैं जो हकलाने वाले व्यक्तियों के जीवन पर प्रभाव डालता है। जूडी कस्टर द्वारा आयोजित ऑनलाइन कॉन्फ्रेंस शुरुआत से ही अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हकलाने वाले जागरूकता दिवस का एक अभिन्न अंग रही है।

भारत ने SCO देशों के महा अभिवक्ताओं की 18 वीं बैठक में लिया हिस्सा

• एससीओ देशों के महा अभिवक्ताओं (Prosecutors General of SCO) की 18 वीं बैठक 20 अक्टूबर 2020 को वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंस के माध्यम से आयोजित की गई थी। इस बैठक में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व सॉलिसिटर जनरल तुषार मेहता ने किया था। बैठक के दौरान, सभी अभिवक्ताओं ने भ्रष्टाचार रोकने और मुकाबला करने, आपसी कानूनी सहायता और नियामक कानूनी कृत्यों के आदान-प्रदान में सहयोग को मजबूत करने पर सहमत जताई।
• भारत 2021 में एससीओ अभिवक्ताओं की आम बैठक की मेजबानी करेगा। एससीओ एक महत्वपूर्ण क्षेत्रीय समूह है जो भारत को अपने विस्तारित पड़ोस विशेष रूप से मध्य एशियाई देशों को संलग्न करने का अवसर देता है।

• भारत ने आर्थिक सहयोग और विकास संगठन (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) देशों में जाने वाले प्रवासियों की संख्या और उन देशों की नागरिकता प्राप्त करने के मामले में दूसरी रैंक हासिल की है। इस सूची में चीन ने 4.3 लाख प्रवासियों के साथ अपने शीर्ष स्थान को बरकरार रखा है, जो 2019 की रिपोर्ट से 1 प्रतिशत कम है।
• यह इस वार्षिक रिपोर्ट का 44 वां संस्करण है। डेटा को ओईसीडी द्वारा वार्षिक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रवासन आउटलुक रिपोर्ट के 2020 संस्करण में जारी किया गया था, जो अपने देशों में प्रवासियों की आवाजाही और नीतियों में हाल के घटनाक्रम का विश्लेषण करता है। भारत से, 3.3 लाख प्रवासी चले गए, और यह पिछले संस्करण की तुलना में 10 प्रतिशत अधिक है। इसमें रोमानिया इन देशों में मानव पूंजी का तीसरा सबसे बड़ा निर्यातक बनकर उभरा है। OECD पेरिस स्थित 37 विकसित देशों का एक संघ है जो अक्सर काम के अवसरों, शिक्षा और शरण के लिए आप्रवासियों को आकर्षित करते हैं।

• जाने-माने अर्थशास्त्री और नौकरशाह एन के (नंद किशोर) सिंह ने “Portraits of Power: Half a Century of Being at Ringside” नामक अपनी आत्मकथा का विमोचन किया है। यह पुस्तक एनके सिंह के जीवन के बारे बतलाती है जिन्होंने भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था के विकास में सक्रिय भूमिका निभाई।

Singapore becomes 1st country to use facial recognition to pay taxes

• Singapore became the World’s First Country to attach Facial verification in the National Identification Database. The function is called “SingPass Face Verification”. This technology is being rolled out to the city-state’s SingPass digital identity scheme, offering access to no less than 400 online services, including tax declarations and public housing applications.
• According to the Singapore authorities, the technology helps ensure that the right person is genuinely present in front of their screen, rather than a photograph, a video, a replayed recording or a deepfake.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik launches ‘Mo Bidyut’ portal

• Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik has launched the electricity consumer service portal ”Mo Bidyut” and a mobile app through video conference.
• The bilingual online electricity integrated consumer service portal www.mobidyut.com developed by the Energy Department and dedicated to the public under 5T (Teamwork, Transparency, Technology, Time leading to Transformation) initiative of the state government. Through this people will now be able to avail efficient, time-bound, and transparent online service delivery.

 Uttar Pradesh emerges as top destination in 2019

• Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the top destination for attracting the highest number of domestic tourists visiting the state in 2019 as per the Indian Tourism Statistics (ITS) 2020, released by the Ministry of Tourism. About 53.6 crore domestic tourists visited Uttar Pradesh in 2019, which is 23.1% of the total travellers. Tamil Nadu (21.3%) came second followed by Andhra Pradesh (10.2%).

Tamil Top destination for attracting foreign travellers

1. In terms of Foreign tourists, Tamil Nadu has topped the list with nearly 68 lakh foreigners visiting the state in 2019.
2. Maharashtra (over 55 lakh) is at the second position in this list while Uttar Pradesh (over 47 lakh) has secured the third position in attracting foreign tourists visiting in 2019.
3. Goa came last on this list with over 9 lakh foreign tourist visits in 2019.

 RPF launches ‘Meri Saheli’ initiative on AP Express

• Railway Protection Force (RPF), Visakhapatnam has started implementing ‘Meri Saheli’ initiative in AP Express (Visakhapatnam to New Delhi), in order to provide proactive security to women passengers.
• The main motto of ‘Meri Saheli’ is to provide safety and security to women passengers travelling in trains throughout their journey.
• A team of women Sub Inspectors and women constables of RPF will enter all coaches including ladies coaches and identify women passengers, who are travelling alone before the departure of the train.
• These passengers will be briefed about all precautions to be taken during the journey and inform about help no. 182 apart from giving contact numbers of RPF to contact in case of any issue.

Nokia selected by NASA to build 4G LTE Mobile Network on the Moon

• Nokia has been selected by NASA to build the first cellular network on the moon. NASA aims to return humans to the moon by 2024 and dig in for a long-term presence there under its Artemis programme. The first wireless broadband communications system in space would be built on the lunar surface in late 2022.
• The network will configure itself and establish a 4G/LTE communications system on the moon, Nokia said, though the aim would be to eventually switch to 5G. It will partner with a Texas-based private spacecraft design company, Intuitive Machines, to deliver the equipment to the moon on their lunar lander.
• The network will give astronauts voice and video communications capabilities, and allow telemetry and biometric data exchange, as well as the deployment and remote control of lunar rovers and other robotic devices.
• The network will be designed to withstand the extreme conditions of the launch and lunar landing and to operate in space. It will have to be sent to the moon in an extremely compact form to meet the stringent size, weight and power constraints of space payloads.

 Narendra Singh Tomar launches AYUSHMAN SAHAKAR scheme

• Union Agriculture Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar has launched “AYUSHMAN SAHAKAR”. The scheme is a unique way to assist cooperatives to play an important role in the creation of healthcare infrastructure in the country.
• AYUSHMAN SAHAKAR scheme has been formulated by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
• The NCDC would extend term loans to prospective cooperatives to the tune of 10 thousand crores in the coming years.
• NCDC’s scheme will be a step towards strengthening farmers welfare activities by the Central Government.
• NCDC’s Ayushman Sahakar scheme aims at bringing transformation in the health services primarily in the rural areas.
• The scheme also provides working capital and margin money to meet the operational requirements of the health facilities. It provides interest subvention of one per cent to women majority cooperatives.

 IIT Kharagpur’s develops ‘COVIRAP’ Technology for C-19

• The researchers at IIT Kharagpur have developed ‘COVIRAP,’ the C-19 diagnostic test technology, which is fairly easy to conduct and affordable as well and can produce results within one hour. This COVIRAP technology has been successfully validated for its efficacy in C-19 detection by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and been granted certification, after rigorous testing with patient samples by an authorized ICMR laboratory.
• This testing technology is comparable to the celebrated RT-PCR tests, and will just cost the common people with a testing cost of around Rs 500.
• COVIRAP is a cuboid-shaped portable testing device that can deliver results in an hour, making it an effective tool to scale up coronavirus screening in peripheral and rural areas.
• This machine can be developed at a cost of less than Rs 10,000 with minimal infrastructural requirement making the technology affordable to common people. The testing process in this new machine is completed within one hour.
• This implies influenza, malaria, dengue, Japanese encephalitis, tuberculosis and many other infectious, as well as vector-borne diseases, can be tested using the same machine.
• This will virtually minimise the need for thermal cyclers or real-time PCR machines, without sacrificing the expected high standards of a molecular diagnostic test.

National Police Commemoration Day: 21 October

• In India, the National Police Commemoration Day is observed on 21st October every year. The day is marked to remember and honour the brave policemen who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
• On 21 October 1959, twenty Indian soldiers were attacked by Chinese troops in Ladakh’s Hot Spring area, in which, ten Indian policemen lost their lives and seven were imprisoned. Since that day, 21 October has been observed as Police Commemoration Day in honour of the martyrs.

 International Stuttering Awareness Day: 22 October

• International Stuttering Awareness Day is observed globally on 22nd October every year. The day is intended to raise public awareness of the millions of people who have a speech disorder of stuttering or stammering.
• This year’s theme is “Journey of Words – Resilience and Bouncing Back”.
• The International Stuttering Awareness Day, ISAD, (October 22) began in 1998, spear-headed by Michael Sugarman, Oakland, California. ISAD recognizes the growing alliance between SLPs and consumers, who are learning from each other and working together to share, give support, and educate one another and the general public on the impact that stuttering has on individuals’ lives. Online Conferences, organized by Judy Kuster, have been an integral part of International Stuttering Awareness Day since its inception.

India participates in 18th meeting of Prosecutors General of SCO

• The 18th meeting of Prosecutors General of SCO was held on 20 October 2020, via video conference. India was represented by the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. During the meeting, all the prosecutors agreed to strengthen cooperation in preventing and combating corruption, mutual legal assistance and exchange of regulatory legal acts.
• India will host the SCO Prosecutors General Meeting in 2021. SCO is an important regional grouping which gives India an opportunity to engage its extended neighbourhood especially central Asian countries.

India ranked 2nd in OECD International Migration Outlook report

• India has acquired the second rank in terms of the number of migrants going to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries and acquiring the citizenship of those countries. China retained its top spot with 4.3 lakh migrants, which was 1 per cent lower than the 2019 report.
• This is the 44th edition of the annual report. The data was released by the OECD in its 2020 edition of the annual International Migration Outlook report, which analyses the recent developments in migration movements and policies in its countries.
• From India, 3.3 lakh migrants moved, and this is 10 per cent more than the last edition. Romania emerged as the third-largest exporter of human capital to these countries. Paris-based OECD is an association of 37 developed countries which often attract immigrants for work opportunities, education and asylum.

• Veteran Economist and bureaucrat N K (Nand Kishore) Singh has released his autobiography titled “Portraits of Power: Half a Century of Being at Ringside”.
• The book portrays the life of NK Singh who played an active role in the development of the Indian economy. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the 15th Finance Commission. The book is published by Rupa Publications India.
