एरियल हेनरी हैती के नए प्रधान मंत्री बने

• एरियल हेनरी ने औपचारिक रूप से हैती के प्रधान मंत्री का पद ग्रहण किया है। उन्होंने राजधानी पोर्ट-औ-प्रिंस में एक समारोह में पश्चिमी गोलार्ध के सबसे गरीब राष्ट्र के नेता की भूमिका ग्रहण की। 7 जुलाई की तड़के अपने आवास पर राष्ट्रपति जोवेनेल मोइस की हत्या के बाद से अराजकता के कगार पर एक देश को स्थिर करने के प्रयास में हेनरी को एक नई सरकार के प्रमुख के रूप में स्थापित किया गया था।
• हेनरी के शपथ ग्रहण को, मोइज़ द्वारा उनकी मृत्यु के कुछ दिनों पहले इस पद पर नामित किया गया था, को कई हाईटियन द्वारा मांग के अनुसार चुनाव कराने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम के रूप में देखा गया था।

तेलंगाना के मुख्यमंत्री के चंद्रशेखर हुजूराबाद विधानसभा से 'तेलंगाना दलित बंधु' का शुभारंभ करेंगे

• तेलंगाना के मुख्यमंत्री, के चंद्रशेखर राव, हुज़ुराबाद विधानसभा क्षेत्र से पायलट आधार पर अपनी सरकार की नई दलित सशक्तिकरण योजना, अब दलित बंधु नाम से लॉन्च करेंगे। जिस योजना को दलित अधिकारिता योजना कहा जाना था, उसका नाम बदलकर अब दलित बंधु योजना कर दिया गया है। योजना के तहत पात्र दलित परिवारों को सीधे उनके खाते में 10 लाख रुपये नकद दिए जाएंगे। स्वीकृत राशि पात्र हितग्राहियों के बैंक खातों में जमा की जाएगी।
• मतदान वाले हुज़ुराबाद निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में पांच मंडल हैं और इस निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में दलित परिवारों की कुल संख्या 20,929 है। अंतिम लाभार्थी सूची बनने से पहले इन सभी परिवारों की जांच की जाएगी। पात्र पाए जाने वाले सभी लोगों को योजना का लाभ दिया जाएगा। हुज़ुराबाद निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में कुल लगभग 2 लाख मतदाता हैं। अगर यह योजना जल्द ही लागू हो जाती है तो सीएम केसीआर की योजना से लगभग 21,000 परिवारों को लाभ होगा, जिसमें लगभग 60,000 से 80,000 लोग शामिल हैं।

अमन गुलिया और सागर जगलान नए विश्व चैंपियन 2021 के रूप में उभरे

• युवा पहलवान अमन गुलिया और सागर जगलान अपनी-अपनी श्रेणियों में नए विश्व चैंपियन के रूप में उभरे, कैडेट विश्व चैम्पियनशिप 2021 के दूसरे दिन भारत ने हंगरी के बुडापेस्ट में एक प्रभावशाली प्रदर्शन किया।
• गुलिया 48 किग्रा फाइनल में अमेरिकी ल्यूक जोसेफ लिलेडाहल पर 5-2 से जीत के साथ विजेता बनकर उभरे, जबकि जगलान ने 80 किग्रा शिखर सम्मेलन में जेम्स मॉकलर राउली को 4-0 से हराया।

नियुक्ति एवं इस्‍तीफे

अरमाने गिरिधर को भारतीय राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग प्राधिकरण के अध्यक्ष के रूप में अतिरिक्त प्रभार मिला

• सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय के सचिव, अरमाने गिरिधर (IAS) को भारतीय राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग प्राधिकरण (NHAI) के अध्यक्ष का अतिरिक्त प्रभार दिया गया है।
• एनएचएआई (NHAI) के वर्तमान अध्यक्ष सुखबीर सिंह संधू को उत्तराखंड का नया मुख्य सचिव नियुक्त किया गया है। उन्होंने अक्टूबर 2019 में NHAI चैयरमैन के रूप में पदभार संभाला।

विश्व मस्तिष्क दिवस 2021: 22 जुलाई

• वर्ल्ड फेडरेशन ऑफ न्यूरोलॉजी (WFN) प्रतिवर्ष एक अलग थीम पर ध्यान देते हुए 22 जुलाई को विश्व मस्तिष्क दिवस मनाता है। कई जन जागरूकता कार्यक्रम और शैक्षिक एवं सोशल मीडिया गतिविधियां मल्टीपल स्केलेरोसिस को रोकने के लिए आंदोलन को बढ़ावा दे रही हैं, जो 22 जुलाई, 2021 से शुरू और अक्टूबर 2022 तक जारी है।
• इस विश्व मस्तिष्क दिवस की थीम "स्टॉप मल्टीपल स्केलेरोसिस" है। विश्व मस्तिष्क दिवस इस स्थिति के शीघ्र निदान का समर्थन करता है जो रोगी के जीवन की गुणवत्ता में सुधार करने में मदद कर सकता है।

असम के कछार जिले को मिला राष्ट्रीय रजत स्कॉच पुरस्कार

• कछार उपायुक्त, कीर्ति जल्ली को कुछ दिन पहले 'पुष्टि निर्भौर’ (पोषण पर निर्भर) के लिए राष्ट्रीय रजत स्कॉच पुरस्कार मिला, जो दीनाथपुर बगीचा गांव में घरों में न्यूट्री-गार्डन स्थापित करने के लिए परिवर्तन और विकास पर एक अभिसरण परियोजना है। यह गाँव कछार जिले के कटिगोरा सर्कल में भारत-बांग्लादेश सीमा के पास है।
• 140 लाभार्थियों के बीच सब्जियों, फलों और हर्बल के 30,000 पौधे वितरित किए गए।
• परियोजना को लागू करने के लिए गांव के प्रत्येक परिवार को 75 मैन डेज़ का भुगतान भी किया गया था।
• स्कोच अवार्ड 2003 में स्थापित, उन लोगों, परियोजनाओं और संस्थानों को सलाम करता है जो भारत को एक बेहतर राष्ट्र बनाने के लिए अतिरिक्त प्रयास करते हैं।

जेएनसीएएसआर बेंगलुरु ने सामग्री विज्ञान के लिए नेचर इंडेक्स टॉप 50 में जगह बनाई

• जवाहरलाल नेहरू सेंटर फॉर एडवांस साइंटिफिक रिसर्च (JNCASR), बेंगलुरु को प्रतिष्ठित नेचर इंडेक्स द्वारा सामग्री विज्ञान में प्रगति के लिए दुनिया भर के शीर्ष 50 संस्थानों में रखा गया है। सूची जिसमें चीन से 18 संस्थान, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका से 12 और यूनाइटेड किंगडम से दो संस्थान शामिल हैं, JNCASR को विश्वविद्यालयों और संस्थानों के विश्व स्तर पर 23 वें स्थान पर अपनी '50 राइजिंग इंस्टीट्यूशंस' सूची के हिस्से के रूप में रखता है।
• सूची में केंद्र एकमात्र भारतीय संस्थान भी है और अन्य लोगों के साथ विशेषाधिकार साझा करता है जैसे शंघाई जिओ टोंग विश्वविद्यालय जो पहले स्थान पर है, टेक्सास विश्वविद्यालय ऑस्टिन (चौथा), बर्कले विश्वविद्यालय (12 वां) और विश्वविद्यालय कैम्ब्रिज (27)। JNCASR के अध्यक्ष प्रोफेसर गिरिधर यू कुलकर्णी, जो एक सामग्री वैज्ञानिक भी हैं, ने केंद्र के मनोदशा को उल्लासपूर्ण बताया।

राकेश ओमप्रकाश मेहरा की आत्मकथा 'द स्ट्रेंजर इन द मिरर'

• फिल्म निर्माता राकेश ओमप्रकाश मेहरा ने अपनी आत्मकथा 'द स्ट्रेंजर इन द मिरर' की घोषणा की है। उन्होंने प्रसिद्ध लेखिका रीता राममूर्ति गुप्ता के साथ पुस्तक का सह-लेखन किया है। रूपा पब्लिकेशन द्वारा प्रकाशित आत्मकथा 27 जुलाई को देश भर में प्रदर्शित होगी। विज्ञापन निर्माता से निर्देशक बने मेहरा, रंग दे बसंती, दिल्ली-6, भाग मिल्खा भाग और हाल ही में रिलीज हुई तूफान जैसी फिल्मों के लिए जाने जाते हैं।
• एक प्रेस विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार, द स्ट्रेंजर इन द मिरर में वहीदा रहमान, ए.आर. रहमान, बाजपेयी, अभिषेक बच्चन, अख्तर, कपूर आहूजा, टंडन, रोनी स्क्रूवाला, अतुल कुलकर्णी, आर. माधवन, दिव्या दत्ता और प्रह्लाद कक्कड़ सहित सिनेमा और विज्ञापन जगत की प्रसिद्ध हस्तियों के बारे में लिखा गया हैं।

Ariel Henry is the new Prime Minister of Haiti

• Ariel Henry has formally assumed the post of Prime Minister of Haiti. He assumed the role of the leader of the Western Hemisphere’s poorest nation in a ceremony in the capital Port-Au-Prince. Henry was installed as head of a new government in an attempt to stabilize a country on the brink of chaos since the murder of president Jovenel Moise at his residence in the early hours of July 7.
• The swearing-in of Henry, who was named to the post by Moise days before his death, was seen as a key step towards holding elections as demanded by many Haitians.

NATIONAL

K Chandrasekhar Chief Minister of Telangana will Launch ‘Telangana Dalit Bandhu’ from Huzurabad assembly

• Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch his government’s new Dalit empowerment scheme, now christened Dalita Bandhu, on a pilot basis from the Huzurabad assembly constituency. The scheme, which was to be called Dalit Empowerment Scheme, has now been renamed as Dalita Bandhu scheme. As part of the scheme, eligible Dalit families would be given Rs 10 lakh in cash directly to their accounts. The sanctioned amounts will be deposited in the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.
• Poll-bound Huzurabad constituency has five mandals and the total number of Dalit families in this constituency stands at 20,929. All these families will be scrutinised before the final beneficiary list is made. All those found eligible will be extended the benefits of the scheme. Huzurabad constituency has only a total of around 2 lakh voters. Out of the total, CM KCR’s scheme will benefit nearly 21,000 families, which accounts for around 60,000 to 80,000 people, if this scheme is implemented soon.

Aman Gulia and Sagar Jaglan emerged as the new world champions 2021

• Young wrestlers Aman Gulia and Sagar Jaglan emerged as the new world champions in their respective categories as India dished out an impressive show on the second day of the Cadet World Championship 2021 at Budapest, Hungary.
• Gulia emerged the winner with a convincing 5-2 win over American Luke Joseph Lilledahl in a 48kg final while Jaglan blanked James Mockler Rowley 4-0 in the 80kg summit clash.

Aramane Giridhar gets additional charge as Chairman of National Highways Authority of India

• Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Secretary, Aramane Giridhar (IAS) has been given additional charge of the Chairman of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
• Present NHAI Chairman, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu has been appointed the new Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand. He took over as NHAI Chainman in October 2019.

World Brain Day 2021: July 22

• The World Federation of Neurology (WFN) celebrates World Brain Day on every July 22, focusing on a different theme each year. Many public awareness programmes and educational & social media activities are promoting the movement to stop multiple sclerosis, commencing July 22, 2021, & continuing until October 2022.
• The theme for this World Brain Day is “Stop Multiple Sclerosis”. World Brain Day advocates early diagnosis of this condition that can help improve the quality of life of the patient.

Cachar district of Assam received National Silver SKOCH award

• Cachar Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli received the National Silver SKOCH Award a few days ago for ‘Pushti Nirbhor’ (nutrition-dependent), a convergence project on transformation and development entailing setting up Nutri-gardens at houses in Dinnathpur Bagicha village. The village is near the India-Bangladesh border in the Katigorah circle of the Cachar district.
• 30,000 seedlings of vegetables, fruits and herbal plants were distributed among 140 beneficiaries.
• Each household of the village was also given payment for 75 man-days to implement the project.
• Instituted in 2003, SKOCH Award salutes people, projects and institutions that go the extra mile to make India a better nation.

JNCASR Bengaluru hits Nature Index Top 50 for materials science

• The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre For Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru, has been placed in the top 50 institutions worldwide for advances in materials science by the prestigious Nature Index. The list which includes 18 institutes from China, 12 from the United States and two from the United Kingdom places the JNCASR in the 23rd position globally among universities and institutions as part of its ‘50 Rising Institutions’ list.
• The centre is also the only Indian institute on the list and shares the privilege with others such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University which is in the first place, the University of Texas Austin (fourth), the University of Berkley (12th) and the University of Cambridge (27th). JNCASR president Professor Giridhar U Kulkarni, who is also a materials scientist, described the mood at the centre as being jubilant.

‘The Stranger In The Mirror’ is the autobiography of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra

• Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has announced his autobiography, “The Stranger In The Mirror”. He has co-written the book with noted author Reeta Ramamurthy Gupta. The autobiography has published by Rupa Publications, the book will hit the stands across the country on July 27. Ad maker-turned-director Mehra, known for helming movies like Rang De Basanti, Delhi-6, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and the recently released Toofan.
• According to a press release, The Stranger In The Mirror features first-person accounts of noted personalities from the cinema and advertising world including Waheeda Rahman, A.R. Rahman, Bajpayee, Abhishek Bachchan, Akhtar, Kapoor Ahuja, Tandon, Ronnie Screwvala, Atul Kulkarni, R. Madhavan, Divya Dutta and Prahlad Kakar.
