CAG जीसी मुर्मू को ओपीसीडब्ल्यू द्वारा एक बाहरी लेखा परीक्षक के रूप में चुना गया

• भारत के नियंत्रक और महालेखा परीक्षक (CAG), जीसी मुर्मू को रासायनिक हथियारों के उन्मूलन के लिए काम करने वाले एक प्रतिष्ठित अंतर सरकारी संगठन द्वारा बाहरी लेखा परीक्षक के रूप में चुना गया है।
• विदेश मंत्रालय के अनुसार, रासायनिक हथियार पर प्रतिबंध (ओपीसीडब्ल्यू) के संगठन के राज्य दलों के हेग-आधारित सम्मेलन ने सीएजी को 2021 से शुरू होने वाले तीन वर्ष के कार्यकाल के लिए अपने बाहरी लेखा परीक्षक के रूप में चुना।
• यह नियुक्ति कल OPCW सम्मेलन में एक चुनावी प्रक्रिया के माध्यम से की गई थी जहाँ भारत को दूसरों के मुकाबले भारी समर्थन मिला था।

आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री ने जगन्नाथ विद्या दीवेना योजना शुरू की

• आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री, वाईएस जगन मोहन रेड्डी ने हाल ही में वर्ष 2021-22 के लिए जगनन्ना विद्या दीवेना योजना के तहत 672 करोड़ रुपये की पहली किश्त जारी की। इसने 10.88 लाख छात्रों की फीस प्रतिपूर्ति की।अब तक कुल 4, 879 करोड़ रुपये जगनन्ना विद्या दीवेना योजना के तहत वितरित किए जा चुके हैं।
• जगनन्ना विद्या दीवेना योजना का मुख्य उद्देश्य उन सभी छात्रों को छात्रवृत्ति प्रदान करना है, जो अपने वित्तीय बोझ के कारण अपनी फीस का भुगतान करने में सक्षम नहीं हैं।

झारखंड मुक्ति मोर्चा (JMM) चुनावी बॉन्ड दाता का नाम घोषित करने वाली पहली पार्टी बनी

• झारखंड मुक्ति मोर्चा (JMM) पहली पार्टी है, जिसने उस निकाय का नाम घोषित किया है जिसने चुनावी बॉन्ड के माध्यम से इसे दान किया था। पार्टी की 2019-20 योगदान रिपोर्ट में 1 करोड़ रुपये के दान की घोषणा की गई थी। झारखंड में सत्तारूढ़ दल की योगदान रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, दान एल्यूमीनियम और तांबा निर्माण कंपनी हिंडाल्को द्वारा किया गया था।
• एक नई रिपोर्ट में, एसोसिएशन ने कहा कि 2019-20 में राष्ट्रीय और क्षेत्रीय राजनीतिक दलों के लिए आय का सबसे आम और लोकप्रिय स्रोत चुनावी बांड के माध्यम से दान थे। इससे यह सवाल उठता है कि क्या राजनीतिक दलों को उन दाताओं की पहचान के बारे में पता है जिनका चुनावी बांड के माध्यम से योगदान है, जैसा कि इस मामले में देखा जा सकता है।

(WSAI), टिहरी बांध में भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस (ITBP) द्वारा स्थापित किया गया

• उत्तराखंड के टिहरी बांध में भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस (ITBP) द्वारा वाटर स्पोर्ट्स एंड एडवेंचर इंस्टीट्यूट (WSAI) की स्थापना की गई है। संस्थान का उद्घाटन मुख्यमंत्री तीरथ सिंह रावत और खेल मंत्री किरेन रिजिजू ने किया। औली में ITBP का पर्वतारोहण और स्कीइंग संस्थान स्वतंत्र रूप से इस संस्थान को चलाएगा, जो हवाई, जल और भूमि से संबंधित खेल और एडवेंचर गतिविधियों में प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करेगा।
• इस संस्थान में कयाकिंग, रोइंग, कैनोइंग, वॉटर स्कीइंग, पैरा-ग्लाइडिंग, पैरा-सेलिंग, स्कूबा डाइविंग, पैडल बोटिंग, स्पीड बोटिंग, पतंग सर्फिंग, जेट स्कीइंग आदि का प्रशिक्षण भी दिया जाएगा। इसके अलावा, यहां जल बचाव और जीवन रक्षक पाठ्यक्रम संचालित किए जाएंगे। इस संस्था में प्रतिवर्ष कम से कम 200 युवाओं को पानी के खेल में प्रशिक्षित करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है।

प्रियंका मोहिते: माउंट अन्नपूर्णा को स्केल करने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला

• पश्चिमी महाराष्ट्र के सतारा की प्रियंका मोहिते ने विश्व की दसवीं सबसे ऊंची पर्वत चोटी माउंट अन्नपूर्णा पर फतह हासिल की, जो यह उपलब्धि हासिल करने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला पर्वतारोही बन गई हैं।
• माउंट अन्नपूर्णा नेपाल में स्थित हिमालय का एक पुंजक है, जिसमें 8,000 मीटर से अधिक ऊंची चोटी शामिल है और इसे चढ़ाई करने के लिए सबसे कठिन पहाड़ों में से एक माना जाता है।

• नासा के छोटे हेलिकॉप्टर इनजेनुएटी ने मंगल ग्रह पर, दूसरे ग्रह पर पहली संचालित उड़ान और सतह से कुछ मीटर ऊपर की सफलतापूर्वक उड़ान भरी। स्वायत्त उड़ान से डेटा और छवियों को 173 मिलियन मील (278 मिलियन किलोमीटर) पृथ्वी पर वापस भेजा गया था जहां उन्हें नासा के ग्राउंड एंटेना द्वारा प्राप्त किया गया था और तीन घंटे से अधिक बाद में संसाधित किया गया था।

58 वर्षीय कव्वाली गायक फरीद साबरी का निधन

• राजस्थान के प्रसिद्ध संगीत युगल 'साबरी ब्रदर्स' के कव्वाली गायक फरीद साबरी का बुधवार सुबह जयपुर के एक अस्पताल में निधन हो गया।
• उनकी हालत में अचानक गिरावट के कारण उन्हें मंगलवार रात को अस्‍पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था, क्योंकि गायक पिछले कुछ दिनों से निमोनिया से पीड़ित थे। साबरी 58 वर्ष के थे।
• उनके भाई, गायक अमीन साबरी ने पुष्टि की कि फरीद को कोविद नहीं था, लेकिन मधुमेह के अलावा फेफड़ों के संक्रमण और गुर्दे की बीमारियों से पीड़ित थे। डॉक्टरों ने इसकी पुष्टि की है।
• गायक का मिस्कीन शाह कब्रिस्तान में अंतिम संस्कार किया गया, उसके शव को जयपुर के मथुरा वालन की हवेली के सबरी के पैतृक स्थान पर ले जाया गया।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मातृ पृथ्वी दिवस 22 अप्रैल को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया गया

• पृथ्वी दिवस या अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मातृ पृथ्वी दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 22 अप्रैल को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। पूरे विश्व में पृथ्वी को बेहतर बनाने के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाने और लोगों को पर्यावरण संरक्षण के लिए प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए पृथ्वी दिवस मनाया जाएगा। वर्ष 1970 में शुरू होने बाद से विश्व पृथ्वी दिवस 2021 इस दिन की 51 वीं वर्षगाँठ मनाई जाएगी। 2009 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा पृथ्वी दिवस को आधिकारिक तौर पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मातृ पृथ्वी दिवस के रूप में नामित किया गया था।
• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मातृ पृथ्वी दिवस 2021 की थीम है: रिस्टोर अवर अर्थ (Restore Our Earth)।

इंटरनेशनल गर्ल्स इन आईसीटी डे 22 अप्रैल 2021 को मनाया जा रहा है

• इंटरनेशनल गर्ल्स इन आईसीटी डे वार्षिक रूप से अप्रैल में चौथे गुरुवार को मनाया जाता है।इस वर्ष इंटरनेशनल गर्ल्स इन आईसीटी डे 22 अप्रैल 2021 को मनाया जा रहा है। इंटरनेशनल गर्ल्स इन आईसीटी डे का उद्देश्य प्रौद्योगिकी में लड़कियों और महिलाओं के प्रतिनिधित्व को बढ़ाने के लिए एक वैश्विक आंदोलन को प्रेरित करना है। आज, युवा महिलाओं और लड़कियों को विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी, इंजीनियरिंग और गणित में अवसरों के लिए समान पहुंच के लक्ष्य के लिए पुन: प्रयास करते हैं।

सम्‍मेलन एवं समझौते

GOI- जर्मनी ने महासागरों में प्रवेश करने वाले प्लास्टिक कचरे को रोकने के लिए एक समझौता ज्ञापन किया

• भारत और जर्मनी सरकार ने नई दिल्ली में एक वर्चुअल समारोह में प्लास्टिक को समुद्री वातावरण में प्रवेश करने से रोकने के अभ्यासों को बढ़ाने में तकनीकी सहयोग के लिए एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। 'सिटिज़ कॉम्बेटिंग प्लास्टिक एंटरिंग द मरीन एनवायरनमेंट' नामक परियोजना को साढ़े तीन वर्ष की अवधि के लिए लागू किया जाएगा।
• परियोजना का परिणाम पूरी तरह से स्वच्छ भारत मिशन-शहरी के उद्देश्यों के अनुरूप है, जिसमें 2022 तक एकल-उपयोग प्लास्टिक को चरणबद्ध करने के लिए स्थायी ठोस अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन और प्रधान मंत्री मोदी के दृष्टिकोण पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया है।
• इस समझौते पर आवास और शहरी मामलों के मंत्रालय (MoHUA), भारत सरकार और जर्मन संघीय पर्यावरण, प्रकृति संरक्षण और परमाणु सुरक्षा मंत्रालय की ओर से डॉयचे गेसलशाफ्ट फर इंटरनेशनेल ज़ुसम्मेनरबेइत (GIZ) जीएमबीएच भारत के बीच हस्ताक्षर किए गए। यह राष्ट्रीय स्तर (MoHUA पर), चुनिंदा राज्यों (उत्तर प्रदेश, केरल और अंडमान-निकोबार द्वीप समूह) और कानपुर, कोच्चि और पोर्ट ब्लेयर शहरों में किया जाएगा।

वर्ल्ड प्रेस फ्रीडम इंडेक्स 2021, जारी: भारत 142 वें स्थान पर

• 20 अप्रैल, 2021 को जारी नवीनतम विश्व प्रेस स्वतंत्रता सूचकांक 2021 में 180 देशों में से भारत 142 वें स्थान पर है। भारत 2020 में भी 142 वें स्थान पर था। नॉर्वे ने पांचवें वर्ष के लिए अपना शीर्ष स्थान बरकरार रखा है, इसके बाद फिनलैंड और डेनमार्क क्रमशः दूसरे और तीसरे स्थान पर हैं। इरीट्रिया सूचकांक के सबसे निचले स्थान, 180 वें स्थान पर है।
• यह सूचकांक 180 देशों और क्षेत्रों में प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता की स्थिति का मूल्यांकन करने के लिए, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पत्रकारिता नॉट-फॉर-प्रॉफिट बॉडी, "रिपोर्टर्स विदाउट बॉर्डर्स (RSF)" द्वारा प्रतिवर्ष प्रकाशित किया जाता है।

CAG GC Murmu has been chosen as an external auditor by OPCW

• Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, GC Murmu has been chosen as the external auditor by a prestigious intergovernmental organisation working for the elimination of chemical weapons.
• According to the External Affairs Ministry, the Hague-based Conference of State Parties of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) selected the CAG as its external auditor for a three-year term starting 2021.
• The appointment was made through an election process at the OPCW conference yesterday where India received overwhelming support ahead of others.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh launched Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme

• The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Yeduguri Sandinti Jagan Mohan Reddy released the first tranche of Rs 672 crores under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme for the year 2021-22. This reimbursed the fees for 10.88 lakh students. So far, a total of Rs 4, 879 crores have been disbursed under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme.
• The main objective of the Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme is to provide scholarships to all the students who are not able to pay their fees because of their financial burden.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is the first party to declare name of electoral bonds donor

• The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is the first party that has declared the name of the entity which made donations to it through electoral bonds. A declaration of a ₹1 crore donation was made in the party’s 2019-2020 contribution report. According to the contribution report of the ruling party in Jharkhand, the donation was made by aluminium and copper manufacturing company Hindalco.
• The association said the most common and popular source of income for national and regional political parties in 2019-20 were donations through electoral bonds. This raises the question as to whether political parties are aware of the identity of the donors who have contributions through electoral bonds, as can be seen in this case.

(WSAI) has been established by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at Tehri Dam

• Water Sports and Adventure Institute (WSAI) has been established by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at Tehri Dam in Uttarakhand. The institute was inaugurated on by Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. ITBP’s Mountaineering and Skiing Institute at Auli will independently run this institution, which will impart training in aero, water and land-related sports and adventure activities.
• Training in kayaking, rowing, canoeing, water skiing, para-gliding, para-sailing, speed boating, kite surfing, jet skiing, etc, will also be provided at this institute. Apart from this, water rescue and life-saving courses will be conducted here. It has been targeted to train at least 200 youth in water sports at this institution every year.

Priyanka Mohite : first Indian woman to scale Mount Annapurna

• Priyanka Mohite from Satara in western Maharashtra has scaled Mount Annapurna, the tenth highest mountain peak in the world, became the first Indian woman climber to achieve the feat.
• Mount Annapurna is a massif in the Himalayas located in Nepal that includes one peak over 8,000 metres and is considered to be one of the toughest mountains to climb.

NASA successfully flew its tiny helicopter Ingenuity on Mars

• NASA successfully flew its tiny helicopter Ingenuity on Mars, the first powered flight on another planet and a feat a top engineer called “our Wright brothers’ moment.” Data and images from the autonomous flight were transmitted (278 million kilometres) back to Earth where they were received by NASA’s array of ground antennas and processed more than three hours later. Ingenuity was on autopilot for its entire flight, out of sight, direct control, or contact with the men and women on Earth who had ordered it aloft—because radio signals take too long to travel between the planets for any human operator to intervene.

OBITUARY

Qawwali singer Farid Sabri passed away on 58.

• Qawwali singer Farid Sabri of the renowned musical duo 'Sabri Brothers' from Rajasthan passed away on Wednesday morning at a hospital in Jaipur.
• He was reportedly admitted to the facility on Tuesday night due to sudden deterioration in his condition, as the singer was allegedly suffering from pneumonia for the past few days. Sabri was 58.
• His brother, singer Amin Sabri confirmed that Farid had not tested positive, but was suffering from lung infection and kidney ailments, besides being diabetic. Doctors have confirmed the same.
• The singer was cremated at the Miskin Shah Cemetery, after his body was taken to the Sabris' ancestral place of Mathura Walon ki Haveli in Jaipur.

• Earth Day (International Mother Earth Day) is observed globally on 22 April every year. The Day will be celebrated all over the world to spread awareness for Earth’s wellbeing and to encourage people to support environmental protection. World Earth Day 2021 will mark the 51st Anniversary of the day since it started being observed in 1970. Earth Day was renamed officially by the UN in 2009 as International Mother Earth Day.
• The theme of 2021 International Mother Earth Day is Restore Our Earth.

International Girls in ICT Day is observed on 22nd April 2021

• International Girls in ICT Day marked annually on the fourth Thursday of April. This year International Girls in ICT Day is observed on 22nd April 2021. International Girls in ICT Day aims to inspire a global movement to increase the representation of girls and women in technology. Today, let’s recommit to the goal of equal access for young women and girls to opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math.
• The United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is highlighting the need to promote technology career opportunities for girls and women in the world’s fastest-growing sector.

GOI-Germany enter into an agreement to prevent plastic waste entering oceans

• The Government of India and Germany Government have signed an agreement for Technical Cooperation in enhancing practices to prevent plastic from entering the marine environment at a virtual ceremony in New Delhi India. The project titled ‘Cities Combating Plastic Entering the Marine Environment’ will be implemented for a period of 42 months.
• The outcome of the project is completely in line with the objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban focusing on sustainable solid waste management and Prime Minister Modi’s vision to phase out single-use plastic by 2022.
• The agreement was signed between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India and Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH India on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

World Press Freedom Index 2021, released: India at 142nd 

• India has been placed at 142nd position among 180 countries in the latest World Press Freedom Index (WPFI)2021, released on April 20, 2021. India was at 142nd position in 2020 as well. Norway has retained its top spot for the fifth year running, followed by Finland and Denmark at second and third place respectively. Eritrea is at the bottom of the index at 180th place.
• The index is published every year by the international journalism not-for-profit body, “Reporters without Borders (RSF)”, to evaluate the press freedom situation in 180 countries and territories.
