इब्राहिम रायसी होंगे ईरान के नए राष्ट्रपति

• इब्राहीम रायसी ने 2021 का ईरानी राष्ट्रपति चुनाव जीता है, जिसमें लगभग 90 प्रतिशत मतपत्रों की गिनती के साथ 62 प्रतिशत मत प्राप्त हुए हैं।
• 60 वर्षीय रायसी अगस्त 2021 में हसन रूहानी की जगह लेंगे और अपना चार वर्ष का कार्यकाल शुरू करेंगे। वह मार्च 2019 से ईरान के मुख्य न्यायाधीश भी हैं।

30 जून, 2021 से पहले पैन लिंक नहीं होने पर पैन को 'निष्क्रिय' घोषित किया जाएगा

• केंद्रीय प्रत्यक्ष कर बोर्ड (सीबीडीटी) ने हाल ही में चल रहे C-19 महामारी से उत्पन्न कठिनाइयों के कारण स्थायी खाता संख्या (पैन) को आधार संख्या से जोड़ने की समय सीमा को 30 जून, 2021 तक बढ़ा दिया था। तो अब जैसे-जैसे समय सीमा नजदीक आ रही है, यहां कुछ दिशानिर्देश दिए गए हैं जिन्हें ध्यान में रखा जाना चाहिए।
• आयकर अधिनियम 1961 की नई धारा 234एच के अनुसार, जिसे हाल ही में बजट 2021 के दौरान पेश किया गया है, जो पैन कार्ड 30 जून, 2021 के बाद आधार से लिंक नहीं हैं, उन्हें "निष्क्रिय" घोषित किया जाएगा, साथ ही एक एक हजार रुपये का जुर्माना भी लगाया जा सकता है। दूसरी ओर, व्यक्ति को बिना पैन कार्ड वाला व्यक्ति माना जाएगा।

DPIIT सचिव जी। महापात्रा का C-19 के कारण निधन हो गया

• उद्योग और आंतरिक व्यापार विभाग (DPIIT) के सचिव गुरुप्रसाद महापात्र का C-19 संबंधित जटिलताओं के कारण निधन हो गया है।
• अगस्त 2019 में DPIIT सचिव के रूप में नियुक्त होने से पहले, महापात्रा ने भारतीय विमानपत्तन प्राधिकरण (AAI) के अध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्य किया। वह 1986 बैच के गुजरात कैडर के आईएएस अधिकारी थे, जिन्होंने पहले वाणिज्य विभाग में संयुक्त सचिव के रूप में कार्य किया था।

संक्रांति मनाने का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस 2021: 21 जून

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संक्रांति उत्सव दिवस 21 जून को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। यह दिन संक्रांति और विषुव तथा कई धर्मों और जातीय संस्कृतियों के लिए उनके महत्व के बारे में जागरूकता लाता है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा 20 जून 2019 को संकल्प A/RES/73/300 के तहत अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संक्रांति उत्सव दिवस की घोषणा की गई थी।
• संक्रांति वह बिंदु है जिस पर सूर्य विश्‍व से अपनी सबसे बड़ी दूरी पर होता है और विषुव अंतरिक्ष का सबसे न्यून बिंदु होता है। ईसाइयों, मुसलमानों और अन्य धर्मों के लिए संक्रांति और विषुव दोनों का अपना महत्व है। solstice शब्द, लैटिन sol ("सूर्य") और sistere ("स्थिर रहने के लिए") से लिया गया है क्योंकि सूर्य के दैनिक पथ (जैसा कि पृथ्वी से देखा जाता है) की मौसमी गति उलटने से पहले उत्तरी या दक्षिणी सीमा पर "ठहराव" दिखाई देती है, एक अवसर है जो तब होता है जब सूर्य भूमध्य रेखा के सापेक्ष अपने सबसे उत्तरी या दक्षिणी दिन-चाप पर पहुंच जाता है।

• योग का अभ्यास करने के कई लाभों के बारे में विश्‍व भर में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र प्रतिवर्ष 21 जून को विश्व स्तर पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस मनाता है। योग एक प्राचीन शारीरिक, मानसिक और आध्यात्मिक अभ्यास है जिसकी उत्पत्ति भारत में हुई थी। 'योग' शब्द संस्कृत से लिया गया है और इसका अर्थ है जुड़ना या मिलना, शरीर और चेतना के मिलन का प्रतीक।
• योग की इस महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका को स्वीकार करते हुए, इस वर्ष अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस का स्मरणोत्सव "कल्याण के लिए योग (Yoga for well-being)" पर केंद्रित है - योग का अभ्यास कैसे प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के समग्र स्वास्थ्य को बढ़ावा दे सकता है।
• भारत ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय योग दिवस की स्थापना के लिए मसौदा संकल्प का प्रस्ताव रखा और इस प्रस्ताव का रिकॉर्ड 175 सदस्य देशों ने समर्थन किया। इसकी सार्वभौमिक अपील को स्वीकार करते हुए, 11 दिसंबर 2014 को, संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने संकल्प 69/131 द्वारा 21 जून को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस के रूप में घोषित किया।

विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस 2021: 20 जून

• विश्‍वभर में शरणार्थियों के साहस और शक्ति को सम्मानित करने के लिए प्रतिवर्ष 20 जून को विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस मनाया जाता है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र इस दिन को उन शरणार्थियों को सम्मानित करने के लिए मनाता है, जिन्हें उनके घरों से बाहर रहने के लिए मजबूर किया गया। इस दिन का उद्देश्य नए देशों में अपना जीवन बना रहे शरणार्थियों के लिए समझ और सहानुभूति का निर्माण करना है।
• इस वर्ष विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस का विषय है 'टुगेदर वी हील, लर्न एंड शाइन (Together we heal, learn and shine)'। संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने कहा है कि C-19 बीमारी महामारी ने यह स्पष्ट कर दिया है कि हम केवल एक साथ खड़े होने से ही सफल हो सकते हैं। संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने विश्‍व भर में स्वास्थ्य सेवा प्रणाली में शरणार्थियों को अधिक से अधिक शामिल करने का आह्वान किया है।
• विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस पहली बार 20 जून 2001 को 1951 शरणार्थी सम्मेलन की 50वीं वर्षगांठ पर मनाया गया था। संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने दिसंबर 2000 में आधिकारिक तौर पर 20 जून को विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस के रूप में नामित किया।

पुरस्‍कार एवं सम्‍मान

पर्यावरण संगठन ‘Familial Forestry’ ने प्रतिष्ठित संयुक्त राष्ट्र पुरस्कार जीता

• 2021 लैंड फॉर लाइफ अवार्ड राजस्थान के फैमिलियल फॉरेस्ट्री द्वारा जीता गया है, यह एक अनूठी अवधारणा है, जो एक परिवार को एक पेड़ के साथ जोड़ती है, जिससे यह एक हरा "परिवार का सदस्य" बन जाता है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र कन्वेंशन टू कॉम्बैट डेजर्टिफिकेशन (UNCCD), भूमि के संतुलन की दिशा में प्रयासों में उत्कृष्टता और नवाचार को पहचानने के लिए हर दो वर्ष में लैंड फॉर लाइफ अवार्ड का आयोजन करता है।

• फैमिलियल फॉरेस्ट्री जलवायु-कार्यकर्ता श्याम सुंदर ज्ञानी द्वारा एक पर्यावरण संरक्षण अवधारणा है, जो राजस्थान में समाजशास्त्र के एक एसोसिएट प्रोफेसर हैं, जो 15 से अधिक वर्षों से फैमिलियल फॉरेस्ट्री के लिए अभियान चला रहे हैं।

बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

सेंट्रम को पीएमसी बैंक का अधिग्रहण करने के लिए आरबीआई की सैद्धांतिक मंजूरी मिली

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने सेंट्रम फाइनेंशियल सर्विसेज लिमिटेड (CFSL) को एक छोटा वित्त बैंक (SFB) स्थापित करने के लिए "सैद्धांतिक" मंजूरी दे दी है, जो संकटग्रस्त पंजाब और महाराष्ट्र सहकारी बैंक (PMC बैंक) का अधिग्रहण करेगा। इसे संचालन शुरू करने के लिए 120 दिन का समय मिलेगा। PMC बैंक के साथ समामेलन एक अलग प्रक्रिया है, जिसमें सरकार द्वारा योजना की अधिसूचना शामिल होगी।
• पहले वर्ष साझेदार 900 करोड़ रुपये लगाएंगे, जिसका इस्तेमाल कारोबार शुरू करने और PMC बैंक के अधिग्रहण के लिए किया जाएगा। 900 करोड़ रुपये की इक्विटी फंडिंग का दूसरा दौर अगले वर्ष होगा।
• सेंट्रम को PMC बैंक का अधिग्रहण करने के लिए रुचि की अभिव्यक्ति (EoI) के जवाब में किए गए प्रस्ताव के अनुसार "सैद्धांतिक" अनुमोदन दिया गया है। सेंट्रम और भारतपे के कंसोर्टियम ने PMC बैंक का अधिग्रहण करने में रुचि व्यक्त की थी। रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक, सेंट्रम और भारतपे दोनों की स्मॉल फाइनेंस बैंक में 50 प्रतिशत हिस्सेदारी होगी और मल्टीस्टेट कोऑपरेटिव बैंक की संपत्ति और देनदारियां उसे ट्रांसफर कर दी जाएंगी।

Ebrahim Raisi will be new President of Iran

• Ebrahim Raisi has won the 2021 Iranian presidential election, winning 62 per cent of the vote with about 90 per cent of ballots counted.
• The 60-year-old Raisi will succeed Hassan Rouhani in August 2021, to begin his four-year term. He is also the Chief Justice of Iran since March 2019.

PAN to be declared ‘INOPERATIVE’ if not linked before June 30, 2021

• The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) had recently extended the deadline to link Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar number to June 30, 2021, due to the difficulties posed by the ongoing C-19 pandemic. So now as the deadline is fast approaching, here are some guidelines which must be kept in mind.
• As per the new Section 234H of the Income-tax Act 1961, which has been recently introduced during Budget 2021, the PAN cards which are not linked to Aadhaar after June 30, 2021, would be declared “inoperative”, as well as a penalty of Rs 1,000 may also be imposed. On the other hand, the person will be considered as an individual without a PAN card.

DPIIT Secretary G. Mohapatra Passed Away due to C-19

• Guruprasad Mohapatra, the Secretary in the Department of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), has passed away due to C-19 related complications.
• Before being appointed as DPIIT secretary in August 2019, Mohapatra served as Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI). He was a Gujarat cadre 1986 batch IAS officer, who had earlier served as joint secretary in the Department of Commerce.

International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice 2021: 21 June

• International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice is observed globally on 21st June. This day bring awareness about solstices and equinoxes and their significance for several religions and ethnic cultures. The International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly on 20th June 2019 within Resolution A/RES/73/300.
• Solstice is that the point at which the Sun is at its greatest distance from the world and equinox is when space is that the lowest. Both solstice and equinox have their own significance for Christians, Muslims, and other religions. A solstice derived from the Latin sol (“sun”) and sistere (“to stand still”) because the seasonal movement of the Sun’s daily path (as seen from Earth) appears to “standstill” at a northern or southern limit before reversing direction is an occasion that occurs when the Sun reaches its most northerly or southerly day-arc relative to the equator.

International Day of Yoga 2021: 21 June

• United Nations celebrates International Day of Yoga globally on 21 June every year to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practising yoga. Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.
• Recognizing this important role of Yoga, this year’s commemoration of the International Day of Yoga focuses on “Yoga for well-being” – how the practice of Yoga can promote the holistic health of every individual.
• India proposed the draft resolution establish the International Day of Yoga and the proposal was endorsed by a record 175 member states. Recognizing its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131.

World Refugee Day 2021: 20 June

• World Refugee Day is observed every year on June 20 to respect and honour the courage and resilience of refugees across the world. The United Nations observes this day to honour the refugees who have been forced outside of their homes. The day aims to build understanding and empathy for refugees building their lives in countries new to them.
• This year the theme for World Refugee Day is ‘Together we heal, learn and shine’. The United Nations has stated that the coronavirus disease (C-19) pandemic has made it evident that we can only succeed by standing together. The UN has called for the greater inclusion of refugees in the healthcare system across the world.
• World Refugee Day was celebrated for the first time on June 20, 2001, on the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention. The United Nations General Assembly officially designated June 20 as World Refugee Day in December 2000.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

Environmental Organisation ‘Familial Forestry’ wins prestigious UN Award

• The 2021 Land for Life Award has been won by Familial Forestry of Rajasthan, a unique concept that relates a tree with a family, making it a green “family member.” The UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) organises the Land for Life Award every two years to recognize excellence and innovation in efforts towards land in balance.
• The theme for the 2021 Award is “Healthy Land, Healthy Lives”. The Land for Life Award was launched at the UNCCD COP (Conference of Parties) 10 in 2011. and is considered as the world’s highest reward regarding land conservation and restoration.
• Familial Forestry is an environment conservation concept by climate-activist Shyam Sunder Jyani, an Associate Professor for Sociology in Rajasthan, who has been campaigning for Familial Forestry for over 15 years.

BANKING AND ECONOMY

Centrum gets RBI’s in-principle nod to take over PMC Bank

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given “in-principle” approval to Centrum Financial Services Ltd (CFSL) to set up a small finance bank (SFB), which will take over the beleaguered Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank (PMC Bank). It will get 120 days to commence operations. The amalgamation with PMC Bank is a separate process that would involve notification of the scheme by the government.
• The first year the partners would put in Rs 900 crore, which will be used for starting the business and acquiring PMC Bank. The second round of equity funding of Rs 900 crore will happen in the following year.
• The “in-principle” approval has been given to Centrum in accordance with the offer it made in response to the expression of interest (EoI) to take over PMC Bank. The consortium of Centrum and BharatPe had expressed an interest in taking over PMC Bank. According to reports, both Centrum and BharatPe will hold 50 per cent in the small finance bank and the assets and liabilities of the multistate cooperative bank will be transferred to it.
