पेड्रो कैस्टिलो: पेरू के नए राष्ट्रपति घोषित

• ग्रामीण शिक्षक-राजनीतिक नौसिखिए, पेड्रो कैस्टिलो 40 वर्षों में देश की सबसे लंबी चुनावी गिनती के बाद पेरू के राष्ट्रपति चुनाव के विजेता बने। कैस्टिलो, जिनके समर्थकों में पेरू के गरीब और ग्रामीण नागरिक शामिल थे, ने दक्षिणपंथी राजनेता कीको फुजीमोरी को सिर्फ 44,000 मतों से हराया। दक्षिण अमेरिकी राष्ट्र में अपवाह चुनाव होने के एक महीने के अधिक समय बाद चुनावी अधिकारियों ने अंतिम आधिकारिक परिणाम जारी किए।
• विश्‍व के दूसरे सबसे बड़े तांबा उत्पादक पेरू की अर्थव्यवस्था को C-19 महामारी ने कुचल दिया है, जिससे गरीबी का स्तर लगभग एक-तिहाई आबादी तक बढ़ गया है और एक दशक के लाभ को समाप्त कर दिया गया है।

मालदीव के विदेश मंत्री अब्दुल्ला शाहिद भारत पहुंचे

• मालदीव के विदेश मंत्री और संयुक्त राष्ट्र की 76वीं महासभा के निर्वाचित अध्यक्ष अब्दुल्ला शाहिद नई दिल्ली पहुंचे हैं। अपनी यात्रा के दौरान, वह प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी से मिलेंगे और विदेश मंत्री डॉ. एस जयशंकर के साथ पारस्परिक हित के प्रमुख अंतरराष्ट्रीय, बहुपक्षीय, क्षेत्रीय और द्विपक्षीय मुद्दों पर बातचीत करेंगे।
• दोनों मंत्रियों द्वारा दोनों पक्षों के बीच द्विपक्षीय सहयोग के संपूर्ण पहलुओं की समीक्षा करने की भी संभावना है। इस चर्चा से दोनों देशों के बीच तेजी से बढ़ रहे संबंधों को और गति मिलने की उम्मीद है। यात्रा के दौरान, मालदीव में भारतीय अनुदान सहायता से लागू होने वाली उच्च प्रभाव वाली सामुदायिक विकास परियोजनाओं के लिए एक समझौते पर भी हस्ताक्षर किए जाएंगे।

ऑस्ट्रेलिया 2032 ओलंपिक और पैरालंपिक खेलों की मेजबानी करेगा

• अंतरराष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति (IOC) ने 2032 ग्रीष्मकालीन ओलंपिक और पैरालंपिक खेलों के लिए ऑस्ट्रेलियाई के ब्रिस्बेन शहर को मेजबान के रूप में वोट दिया है।
• ब्रिस्बेन 1956 में मेलबर्न और 2000 में सिडनी के बाद ओलंपिक खेलों की मेजबानी करने वाला तीसरा ऑस्ट्रेलियाई शहर है। इसके साथ, ऑस्ट्रेलिया तीन अलग-अलग शहरों में ग्रीष्मकालीन ओलंपिक खेलों का मंचन करने वाला संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के बाद विश्‍वका एकमात्र दूसरा देश बन जाएगा।

• प्रसिद्ध रंगमंच व्यक्तित्व और साहित्यकार उर्मिल कुमार थपलियाल का निधन हो गया है। थपलियाल ने अपने पूरे जीवन में नौटंकी के पुनरुद्धार और रंगमंच को लोकप्रिय बनाने के लिए काम किया।
• वयोवृद्ध राज्य की राजधानी के 50 वर्षीय लोकप्रिय थिएटर समूह दर्पण से जुड़े थे। उन्होंने ऑल इंडिया रेडियो के साथ भी लंबी पारी खेली।

• बंगलौर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डा आने वाले वर्षों में स्मार्ट हवाई अड्डा बन जाएगा! एक "एयरपोर्ट इन ए बॉक्स" प्लेटफॉर्म बनाने के लिए, जो प्रौद्योगिकी, संचालन के साथ-साथ ग्राहक अनुभव को बदल देता है, बेंगलुरु में केम्पेगौड़ा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे (केआईएबी/ बीएलआर हवाई अड्डे), बैंगलोर इंटरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट लिमिटेड (बीआईएएल) के संचालक ने कंपनी- आईबीएम के साथ दस वर्ष की साझेदारी पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

कोटक महिंद्रा बैंक ने भारतीय नौसेना के साथ समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए

Pedro Castillo declared is the New President of Peru

• Rural teacher-turned-political novice, Pedro Castillo became the winner of Peru’s presidential election after the country’s longest electoral count in 40 years. Castillo, whose supporters included Peru’s poor and rural citizens, defeated right-wing politician Keiko Fujimori by just 44,000 votes. Electoral authorities released the final official results more than a month after the runoff election took place in the South American nation.
• The economy of Peru, the world’s second-largest copper producer, has been crushed by the coronavirus pandemic, increasing the poverty level to almost one-third of the population and eliminating the gains of a decade.

Maldives Foreign Affairs Minister Abdulla Shahid arrives in India

• Maldives Foreign Affairs Minister and President-Elect of 76th General Assembly of United Nations, Abdulla Shahid has arrived in New Delhi today. During his visit, he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hold talks with the External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar on key international, multilateral, regional and bilateral issues of mutual interest.
• The two Ministers are also expected to review the entire gamut of bilateral cooperation between the two sides. The discussions are expected to give further momentum to the rapidly expanding ties between the two countries. During the visit, an Agreement for High Impact Community Development Projects to be implemented with Indian grant assistance in the Maldives will also be signed.

Australia will Host Olympic and Paralympic games 2032

• The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has voted the Australian city of Brisbane as the host city for the 2032 Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games.
• Brisbane is the third Australian city to host the Olympic Games after Melbourne in 1956 and Sydney in 2000. With this, Australia will also become the only second country in the world, after the United States, to stage the summer Olympic Games in three different cities.

Veteran litterateur Urmil Kumar Thapliyal passed away

• Renowned theatre personality and litterateur, Urmil Kumar Thapliyal has passed away. Thapliyal worked all through his life for the revival of nautanki and popularising theatre.
• The veteran was associated with Darpan, the 50-year-old popular theatre group of the state capital. He also had long innings with the All India Radio.

BIAL signs 10-year partnership with IBM

• Bangalore International Airport to become Smart Airport in coming years! In a bid to create an “Airport in a Box” platform, which transforms technology, operations, as well as customer experience, the operator of Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru (KIAB/BLR Airport), Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), has signed a ten-year partnership with the company- IBM.
• A statement issued by IBM on Wednesday said the companies- IBM Hybrid Cloud capabilities, Red Hat Automation as well as Kyndryl managed infrastructure services will help the airport operator improve its productivity, automate IT and minimize or reduce costs.

Kotak Mahindra Bank signs an MoU with the Indian Navy

• The Indian Navy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kotak Mahindra for salary accounts of all its personnel – both serving and retired. The bank will reportedly offer special salary account benefits to the Indian Navy like enhanced complimentary personal accident insurance cover, special education benefit for children, and additional girl child benefit, and attractive rates and zero processing fees on personal loans, home loans and car loans.

SBI selected Paisalo as its National Corporate Business Correspondent of the Bank

• State Bank of India (SBI) has selected “Paisalo Digital” as the National Corporate Business Correspondent of the Bank for financial inclusion by providing banking services through kiosks. The signing of the Service Level Agreement and other formalities shall be done shortly. Paisalo is tapping into the Rs 8 lakh crore market opportunity of small-ticket loans for India’s 365 million unbanked population.
• Ensuring superior financial inclusion and increasing the outreach, the financial solutions company shall extend its services and its reach to the general public including its existing customers and new customers. As a business correspondent for State Bank of India, they will focus and improve the synergy with the thrust of the already up and running fully digital small loan business under SBI-Paisalo Loan Co-origination.

ICICI Bank announced the launch of a co-branded credit card

• ICICI Bank has announced the launch of a co-branded credit card with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to enable users to get benefits and reward points for using multiple credit cards in one. Named, ‘ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver Credit Card’, the card offers best-in-class rewards and benefits to customers on their everyday spends on fuel as well as other categories including electricity and mobile, departmental stores like Big Bazaar and D-Mart, and e-commerce portals, among others. Powered by VISA, the card is unique among its peers which typically offer benefits on only one category of spends.
• Customers can apply for the ‘ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver Credit Card’ through the Bank’s internet banking platform or the mobile banking app, iMobile Pay.
