चीन ने सौर विस्फोटों की निगरानी के लिए अपना पहला सूर्य अवलोकन उपग्रह लॉन्च किया

• चीन ने लॉन्ग मार्च -2 डी रॉकेट पर सवार होकर उत्तरी शांक्सी प्रांत के ताइयुआन उपग्रह प्रक्षेपण केंद्र से अंतरिक्ष में अपना पहला सौर अन्वेषण उपग्रह सफलतापूर्वक लॉन्च किया है।
• उपग्रह का नाम 'शीहे (Xihe)' रखा गया था (शीहे सूर्य की देवी हैं जिन्होंने प्राचीन चीनी पौराणिक कथाओं में कैलेंडर बनाया था), जिसे चीनी Hα सोलर एक्सप्लोरर (CHASE) के रूप में भी जाना जाता है। उपग्रह को चाइना एयरोस्पेस साइंस एंड टेक्नोलॉजी कॉरपोरेशन (CASC) द्वारा विकसित किया गया है।

C-19 ने टीबी उन्मूलन में दशकों की प्रगति को बदला, भारत सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित: WHO

• विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (WHO) ने 2021 के लिए 'ग्लोबल टीबी रिपोर्ट जारी की है, जिसमें इसने C-19 के प्रभावों पर प्रकाश डाला, जिसके कारण तपेदिक (टीबी) उन्मूलन की प्रगति में भारी उलटफेर हुआ। रिपोर्ट में भारत को टीबी उन्मूलन में सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित देश के रूप में भी उल्लेख किया गया है, जहां 2020 में नए टीबी मामलों का पता लगाने में भारी प्रभाव पड़ा।
• 2019 की तुलना में 2020 में 20% टीबी के मामलों में नाटकीय रूप से कमी देखी गई, अर्थात; 4.1 मिलियन मामलों का अंतर है। टीबी का पता लगाने में प्रगति 2012 के स्तर पर वापस चली गई है, भारत में 2020 में कुल मामलों में 41% की गिरावट आई है।

केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने सार्वजनिक कार्यालय में पीएम मोदी के 20 वर्ष पूरे होने पर 'मोदी वैन' को हरी झंडी दिखाई

• केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने उत्तर प्रदेश के कौशांबी जिले में 19 अक्टूबर, 2021 को मोदी वैन के रूप में डब की गई "फाइव मोबाइल मेडिकल वैन" को हरी झंडी दिखाई। इन वैनों को भाजपा के 'सेवा ही संगठन' कार्यक्रम के तहत प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के शासनाध्यक्ष के रूप में 20 वर्ष पूरे करने के उपलक्ष्य में लॉन्च किया गया है।
• पांच मोबाइल मेडिकल वैन कौशांबी के पांच विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में संचालित होंगी। ये वैन भाजपा के राष्ट्रीय सचिव विनोद सोनकर द्वारा संचालित कौशांबी विकास परिषद के तत्वावधान में काम करेंगी।

भवानी देवी ने फ्रांस में तलवारबाजी प्रतियोगिता जीती

• पहली भारतीय फेंसर के रूप में ओलंपिक में प्रतिस्पर्धा कर टोक्यो में इतिहास रचने वाली भवानी देवी ने व्यक्तिगत महिला सेबर इवेंट में फ्रांस में चार्लेविल राष्ट्रीय प्रतियोगिता जीती है।
• वह वर्तमान में विश्‍व में 50 वें स्थान पर है और भारत से शीर्ष क्रम की फेंसर है। वह 2022 के एशियाई खेलों में एक अच्छे प्रदर्शन पर नजर गड़ाए हुए है और उसने बहु-विषयक खेल की तैयारी शुरू कर दी है।

 नियुक्ति एवं इस्‍तीफे

आरबीआई ने अमिताभ चौधरी की एक्सिस बैंक के एमडी और सीईओ के रूप में फिर से नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दी

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने अमिताभ चौधरी की तीन वर्ष की अवधि के लिए निजी ऋणदाता एक्सिस बैंक के प्रबंध निदेशक और मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी के रूप में फिर से नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दी। 31 दिसंबर, 2018 से प्रभावी, निवर्तमान एमडी और सीईओ शिखा शर्मा के सेवानिवृत्त होने के बाद अमिताभ ने जनवरी 2019 में एक्सिस बैंक के नए एमडी और सीईओ के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला था। बढ़ा हुआ तीन वर्ष का कार्यकाल 1 जनवरी, 2022 से प्रभावी होगा।

विश्व ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस दिवस 2021: 20 अक्टूबर

• विश्व ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस दिवस (WOD) प्रतिवर्ष 20 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाता है। इस दिन का उद्देश्य ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस और मेटाबोलिक हड्डी रोग की रोकथाम, निदान और उपचार के बारे में वैश्विक जागरूकता बढ़ाना है। WOD का आयोजन इंटरनेशनल ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस फाउंडेशन (IOF) द्वारा एक विशिष्ट विषय के साथ एक वर्ष के लंबे अभियान के शुभारंभ के द्वारा किया जाता है। 2021 में वैश्विक WOD अभियान का विषय "हड्डियों की ताकत की सेवा" है।
• ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस के कारण हड्डियां कमजोर और नाजुक हो जाती हैं जिससे कि वे आसानी से टूट जाती हैं जैसे कि मामूली गिरने पर, टक्कर होने पर, छींक या अचानक हरकत होने पर भी। ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस के कारण होने वाला फ्रैक्चर जीवन के लिए खतरा हो सकता है और दर्द और दीर्घकालिक विकलांगता का एक प्रमुख कारण हो सकता है। ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस विश्‍व भर में एक बढ़ती वैश्विक समस्या है। यह तीन में से एक महिला और 50 वर्ष से अधिक उम्र के पांच पुरुषों में से एक को प्रभावित करता है।

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय शेफ दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 20 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाता है। इस दिन का उद्देश्य महान पेशे का जश्न मनाना और सम्मान करना और विश्‍व भर के लोगों को स्वस्थ खाने के बारे में शिक्षित करना है। यह अनुभवी रसोइयों के लिए भी गर्व और प्रतिबद्धता की भावना के साथ अपने ज्ञान और पाक कौशल को अगली पीढ़ी तक पहुंचाने का दिन है।
• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय शेफ दिवस 2021 अभियान का विषय भविष्य के लिए स्वस्थ भोजन है। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय शेफ दिवस 2004 में एक प्रसिद्ध शेफ और वर्ल्ड एसोसिएशन ऑफ शेफ्स सोसाइटीज (वर्ल्ड शेफ) के पूर्व अध्यक्ष डॉ. बिल गैलाघेर द्वारा बनाया गया था।

सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार, 43 वैश्विक पेंशन प्रणालियों में भारत 40वें स्थान पर

• प्रमुख वैश्विक प्रबंधन परामर्श फर्म मर्सर कंसल्टिंग ने मर्सर ग्लोबल पेंशन इंडेक्स का 13वां संस्करण जारी किया है। 2021 मर्सर CFS ग्लोबल पेंशन इंडेक्स सर्वे में 43 देशों में से भारत को 40वें स्थान पर रखा गया है। 2020 में, भारत 39 पेंशन प्रणालियों में से 34 वें स्थान पर था।
• आइसलैंड इस रैंकिंग में 84.2 के सूचकांक मूल्य के साथ शीर्ष पर है, इसके बाद नीदरलैंड 83.5 के साथ और फिर नॉर्वे 82.0 के साथ है। भारत का समग्र सूचकांक मूल्य 43.3 था। थाईलैंड का समग्र सूचकांक मूल्य सबसे कम 40.6 था। 2021 MCGPI ने 4 नई सेवानिवृत्ति प्रणाली जोड़ी है: आइसलैंड, ताइवान, संयुक्त अरब अमीरात और उरुग्वे।

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने करूर वैश्य बैंक को केंद्रीय प्रत्यक्ष कर बोर्ड की ओर से प्रत्यक्ष कर एकत्र करने के लिए अधिकृत किया

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने करूर वैश्य बैंक को केंद्रीय प्रत्यक्ष कर बोर्ड (CBDT) की ओर से प्रत्यक्ष कर एकत्र करने के लिए अधिकृत किया है। अनुमोदन प्राप्त करने के बाद, KVB ने प्रत्यक्ष कर एकत्र करने के लिए सीबीडीटी के साथ एकीकरण प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी है।
• एकीकरण से बैंक अपने ग्राहकों को किसी भी शाखा/नेट बैंकिंग/मोबाइल बैंकिंग सेवाओं (DLite मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन) के माध्यम से प्रत्यक्ष कर भेजने की अनुमति देगा।

INTERNATIONAL

China launches its first sun observation satellite to monitor solar eruptions

• China has successfully launched its 1st solar exploration satellite into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi Province aboard a Long March-2D rocket.
• The satellite was named as ‘Xihe’ (Xihe is the goddess of the sun who created the calendar in ancient Chinese mythology), also known as the Chinese Hα Solar Explorer (CHASE). The satellite has been developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).

C-19 reverses decades of progress in TB elimination, India worst-hit: WHO

• The World Health Organisation (WHO) has released the ‘Global TB report for 2021, where it highlighted the effects of C-19 which led to a huge reversal in the progress of Tuberculosis (TB) elimination. The report also mentioned India as the worst-hit country in TB elimination, where the detection of new TB cases saw a huge impact in 2020.
• A dramatic reduction of 20% TB cases were witnessed in 2020 as compared to 2019, ie; a gap of 4.1 million cases. The progress in TB detection has gone back to the levels of 2012, with India accounting for 41% of the total case drops in 2020.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah flags off ‘Modi Van’ to mark 20 years of PM Modi in public office

• The Union Home Minister Amit Shah has flagged off “Five Mobile Medical Vans” dubbed as Modi Van on October 19, 2021, in the Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh. These vans have been launched under the ‘Seva Hi Sangathan’ programme of BJP to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 20 years as the Head of Government.
• The Five Mobile Medical Vans will operate in five Assembly Constituencies in Kaushambi. These vans will work under the aegis of Kaushambi Vikas Parishad run by BJP’s National Secretary Vinod Sonkar.

Bhavani Devi wins fencing competition in France

• Fencer Bhavani Devi, who made history at the Tokyo Olympics by becoming the first Indian to compete in the sport at the Games, has won the Charlellville National Competition in France in the individual women’s sabre event.
• She is currently ranked 50th in the world and is the top-ranked fencer from India. She is eyeing a good show at the 2022 Asian Games and has started preparing for the multi-discipline sporting extravaganza.

RBI approves re-appointment of Amitabh Chaudhry as MD & CEO of Axis Bank

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the re-appointment of Amitabh Chaudhry as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of private lender Axis Bank for a period of three years.
• Amitabh had taken charge as Axis Bank’s new MD and CEO in January 2019 after as outgoing MD and CEO Shikha Sharma retired, effective December 31, 2018. The extended three-year term will be effective from January 1, 2022.

World Osteoporosis Day 2021: 20th October

• World Osteoporosis Day (WOD) is observed annually on October 20. The day aims to raise global awareness of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease. WOD is organized by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), by launch of a year-long campaign with a specific theme. In 2021 the Global WOD Campaign theme is “Serve Up Bone Strength”.
• Osteoporosis causes bones to become weak and fragile so that they break easily – even as a result of a minor fall, a bump, a sneeze, or a sudden movement. Fractures caused by osteoporosis can be life-threatening and a major cause of pain and long-term disability. Osteoporosis is a growing global problem worldwide. It affects one in three women and one in five men over the age of 50.

 International Chef’s Day 2021: 20th October

• International Chefs Day is observed every year on 20 October. The day aims to celebrate and honour the noble profession and educate people around the world about eating healthy. It is also the day for experienced chefs to pass on their knowledge and culinary skills to the next generation with a sense of pride and commitment.
• The theme of the International Chefs Day 2021 campaign is Healthy Food for the Future. International Chefs Day was created by Dr Bill Gallagher, a renowned chef and the former president of the World Association of Chefs Societies (World Chefs), in 2004.

Book titled “Actually… I Met Them: A Memoir” by Gulzar

• Legendary Indian poet-lyricist-director Gulzar has come out with his new book title “Actually… I Met Them: A Memoir”. In a memoir published by the publishing group Penguin Random House India.
• In this book, Gulzar has shared many interesting unknown facts about legends like Kishore Kumar, Bimal Roy, Ritwik Ghatak, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Mahasweta Devi, among others.

India ranks 40th out of 43 global pension systems, as per survey

• Mercer Consulting, a leading global management consulting firm, has released the 13th edition of the Mercer Global Pension Index (2021 MCGPI). India has been ranked at 40th position out of 43 countries in the 2021 Mercer CFS Global Pension Index survey. In 2020, India was ranked at 34th position out of 39 pension systems.
• Iceland has topped this ranking with an index value of 84.2 followed by the Netherlands with 83.5 and Norway with 82.0. India had an overall index value of 43.3. Thailand had the lowest overall index value at 40.6. The 2021 MCGPI, has added 4 new retirement systems: Iceland, Taiwan, UAE and Uruguay.

Reserve Bank of India has authorized Karur Vysya Bank to collect Direct Taxes on behalf of Central Board of Direct Taxes

• The Reserve Bank of India has authorised Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) to collect direct taxes on behalf of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). After obtaining the approval, KVB has started the integration process with the CBDT to collect direct taxes.
• The integration would enable the bank to allow its customers to remit the direct taxes through any branch/net banking/ mobile banking services (DLite Mobile application).
