CRPF ने अपनी R&D क्षमताओं को बढ़ाने के लिए IIT दिल्ली, DRDO, JATC के साथ की साझेदारी

• देश के सबसे बड़े अर्धसैनिक बल केंद्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल (CRPF) ने IIT दिल्ली, रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन और संयुक्त उन्नत प्रौद्योगिकी केंद्र (JATC) के साथ मिलकर अपनी अनुसंधान और विकास क्षमताओं को बढ़ाने के लिए साझेदारी की है।
• सीआरपीएफ अधिकारी / एसओ (अधीनस्थ अधिकारी) जिन्हें आईआईटी दिल्ली द्वारा प्रशिक्षित किया जाता है, वे रक्षा/सुरक्षा तकनीक समाधान के क्षेत्र में डीआरडीओ और आईआईटी दिल्ली द्वारा संयुक्त अनुसंधान परियोजनाओं से भी जुड़े होंगे। CRPF में 3 लाख से अधिक कर्मचारी हैं, जिनमें से 500 से अधिक अधिकारी / एसओ के पास इंजीनियरिंग की डिग्री हैं।

भारत ने की SCO देशो के कानून मंत्रियों की 7 वीं बैठक की मेजबानी

• शंघाई सहयोग संगठन (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) के सदस्य देशों के मंत्रियों (कानून और न्याय) की 7 वीं बैठक की मेजबानी वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंस के माध्यम भारतीय विधि और न्याय, संचार और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री रवि शंकर प्रसाद द्वारा की गई थी। भारतीय की ओर से एससीओ सदस्य देशों से मंच के माध्यम से पहचाने गए क्षेत्रों में विचारों, सर्वोत्तम प्रयासों और अनुभवों के आदान-प्रदान को बढ़ावा देने का आग्रह किया। साथ ही उन्होंने समाज में हाशिए पर चुके समुदार्यों को मुफ्त कानूनी सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए प्रो बोनो लीगल सर्विसेज की शुरुआत करने का भी उल्लेख किया।
• कानून और न्याय मंत्रालय द्वारा एक बयान के अनुसार इस आभासी बैठक में चीन, कजाकिस्तान, किर्गिस्तान, पाकिस्तान, रूस, ताजिकिस्तान और उजबेकिस्तान के न्याय मंत्रियों ने हिस्सा लिया। एससीओ सदस्य देशों के न्याय मंत्रियों के सातवें सत्र में इन सहयोग के क्षेत्रों पर विचार-विमर्श किया गया; कोरोनोवायरस महामारी के प्रसार के प्रतिकार पर कानूनी जानकारी के पारस्परिक आदान-प्रदान की उच्च प्रासंगिकता पर बल दिया और एडीआर तंत्र क्षेत्र में सहयोग की आवश्यकता को स्वीकार किया।

 नियुक्ति और इस्तीफे

केंद्र सरकार ने 2021 तक बढ़ाया गृह सचिव अजय कुमार भल्ला का कार्यकाल

• मंत्रिमंडल की नियुक्ति समिति ने गृह सचिव अजय कुमार भल्ला के कार्यकाल को 22 अगस्त, 2021 तक बढ़ाने की मंजूरी दे दी। असम-मेघालय कैडर के 1984 बैच के आईएएस अधिकारी भल्ला को अगस्त 2019 में गृह सचिव के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया था। 30 नवंबर, 2020 को उनका कार्यकाल पूरा होने वाला था

 राजकिरण राय बने IBA के नए अध्यक्ष

• यूनियन बैंक ऑफ इंडिया के प्रबंध निदेशक और सीईओ राजकिरण राय जी को वर्ष 2020-21 के लिए भारतीय बैंक संघ (Indian Banks’ Association) का अध्यक्ष चुना गया है। उनकी नियुक्ति हाल ही में एसबीआइ प्रमुख के पद से सेवानिवृत्त हुए रजनीश कुमार के स्थान पर की गई है।
• इसके अतिरिक्त भारतीय स्टेट बैंक के अध्यक्ष दिनेश कुमार खारा को एसोसिएशन का उपाध्यक्ष चुना गया है। IBA भारत में बैंकिंग पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र में बैंकों और अन्य संस्थाओं का एक संघ है जो अपने सदस्यों का प्रबंधन करता है।

ISA सौर पुरस्कार पहली बार प्रदान किया गया

• इंटरनेशनल सोलर अलायंस (आईएसए) ने प्रतिष्ठित वैज्ञानिक और संगठनों को मान्यता देने के लिए आईएसए सौर पुरस्कारों को सफलतापूर्वक संस्थागत रूप दिया है जो सस्ती, विश्वसनीय और टिकाऊ सौर ऊर्जा प्रदान करने में उत्कृष्टता प्रदान करते हैं।

पुरस्कारों की तीन श्रेणियों को प्रदान किया गया था जिसमें शामिल थे:

1. विश्वेश्वरैया पुरस्कार आईएसए के चार क्षेत्रों में से प्रत्येक में अधिकतम अस्थायी सौर क्षमता वाले देशों को मान्यता देता है।
2. कल्पना चावला पुरस्कार सौर ऊर्जा के क्षेत्र में काम करने वाले वैज्ञानिकों और इंजीनियरों के उत्कृष्ट योगदान को पहचानते हैं।
3. दिवाकर पुरस्कार उन संगठनों और संस्थानों को मान्यता देता है जो अलग-अलग लोगों के लाभ के लिए काम कर रहे हैं और उन्होंने मेजबान देश में सौर ऊर्जा के उपयोग को अधिकतम किया है।

• प्रख्यात बंगाली वक्ता प्रदीप घोष का निधन। घोष एक प्रमुख रंगकर्मी और प्रसिद्ध मुखर कलाकार थे, जो अपनी सरल शैली के लिए प्रसिद्ध थे।

विश्व सांख्यिकी दिवस: 20 अक्टूबर

• तीसरा विश्व सांख्यिकी दिवस 20 अक्टूबर 2020 को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाएगा। विश्व सांख्यिकी दिवस 2020 एक वैश्विक सहयोगात्मक प्रयास है, जिसे संयुक्त राष्ट्र सांख्यिकी आयोग के मार्गदर्शन में आयोजित किया जाता है।
• विश्व सांख्यिकी दिवस 2020 की थीम “Connecting the world with data we can trust” हैं। यह विषय विश्वास, आधिकारिक डेटा, नवाचार और राष्ट्रीय सांख्यिकीय प्रणालियों में लोगों की भलाई के महत्व को दर्शाता है।

 विश्व ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस दिवस: 20 अक्टूबर

• विश्व ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस दिवस (WOD) 20 अक्टूबर को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस और चयापचय हड्डी रोग की रोकथाम, निदान और उपचार की वैश्विक जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए दिन मनाया जाता है। WOD का आयोजन इंटरनेशनल ओस्टियोपोरोसिस फाउंडेशन (IOF) द्वारा एक विशिष्ट विषय के साथ एक साल के लंबे अभियान के लॉन्च के द्वारा किया जाता है। WOD का उद्देश्य स्वास्थ्य देखभाल पेशेवरों, मीडिया, नीति निर्माताओं, रोगियों और बड़े पैमाने पर लोगों तक पहुंचकर ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस और फ्रैक्चर की रोकथाम को वैश्विक स्वास्थ्य प्राथमिकता बनाना है।

CRPF collaborates with IIT Delhi, DRDO, JATC to augment R&D capabilities

• The country’s largest para-military force, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has collaborated with IIT Delhi, Defence Research and Development Organisation, and Joint Advanced Technology Centre (JATC) to augment its Research and Development capabilities.
• The CRPF officers/SOs(Subordinate Officers) who are trained by the IIT Delhi will also be associated with joint research projects undertaken by DRDO and IIT Delhi in the field of defence/security tech solutions. CRPF has over 3 lakh personnel, of which more than 500 officers/SOs holds a degree in Engineering.

India hosts 7th meeting of Ministers of Justice of SCO

• The 7th meeting of Ministers of (Law and) Justice of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Member States was virtually hosted by Indian Minister of Law & Justice, Communication and Electronics & Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad. The Indian side urged the SCO Member States to promote the exchange of ideas, best practices and experiences in identified areas through the platform. He also mentioned initiating Pro Bono Legal Services to provide free legal aid to marginalized sections of the society.
• The virtual meeting was attended by justice ministers from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, according to a statement by the Ministry Of Law and Justice. The Seventh Session of the Justice Ministers of SCO member states deliberated on areas of cooperation; emphasized the high relevance of mutual exchange of legal information on counteraction to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and acknowledged the need for cooperation in ADR mechanism area, among others.

GoI extends Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla’s tenure till 2021

• The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of the tenure of Home Secretary, Ajay Kumar Bhalla till August 22, 2021. Bhalla, a 1984 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, was appointed as Home Secretary in August 2019. He was to superannuate on November 30, 2020.

 Rajkiran Rai becomes new chairman of IBA

• The Managing Director and CEO of Union Bank of India, Rajkiran Rai G has been elected as the Chairman of Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) for the term 2020-21. He succeeds Rajnish Kumar as the IBA Chairman after Kumar recently retired as SBI Chief.
• Apart from this, Dinesh Kumar Khara, the Chairman of State Bank of India has been elected as the deputy chairman of the association. IBA is an association of banks and other entities in the banking ecosystem in India catering to its members.

ISA Solar Awards conferred for the first time

• For the first time, since the inception of the framework agreement of ISA, the Solar Awards were presented during the third Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to the countries of the region as well as institutions working for solar.

Three categories of awards were conferred which included:

1. Visvesvaraya award recognises the countries with a maximum floating solar capacity in each of the four regions of ISA.
2. Kalpana Chawla awards recognise the outstanding contribution of scientists and engineers working in the field of solar energy.
3. Diwakar award recognizes organisations & institutions that have been working for the benefit of differently-abled people and have maximised the use of solar energy in the host country.

Veteran Bengali Vocal Artiste Pradip Ghosh passes away

• Noted Bengali elocutionist, Pradip Ghosh passed away. Ghosh was a prominent recitor and renowned vocal artist, who was well-known for his inimitable style of recitation.
• His most notable works included his recitation of Tagore’s poems, especially those for children.

Nozomi Okuhara and Anders Antonsen wins Denmark Open 2020

• In Badminton, former World Champion Nozomi Okuhara of Japan clinched the Denmark Open 2020 title beating three-time world champion Carolina Marin in women’s singles. In the men’s singles final, world number seven Anders Antonsen of Denmark defeated his compatriot Rasmus Gemke.

World Statistics Day: 20 October

• The third World Statistics Day is observed globally on 20 October 2020. The celebration of World Statistics Day 2020 is a global collaborative endeavour, organized under the guidance of the United Nations Statistical Commission.
• The World Statistics Day 2020 theme “Connecting the world with data we can trust.” This theme reflects the importance of trust, authoritative data, innovation and the public good in national statistical systems.
• At its 41st Session in February 2010, the United Nations Statistical Commission proposed celebrating 20 October 2010 as World Statistics Day. The General Assembly adopted on 3 June 2010 resolution 64/267, which officially designated 20 October 2010 as the first-ever World Statistics Day under the general theme “Celebrating the many achievements of official statistics. In 2015, with resolution 96/282, the General Assembly decided to designate 20 October 2015 as the second World Statistics Day under the general theme “Better data, better lives,” as well as to celebrate World Statistics Day every five years on 20 October.

 World Osteoporosis Day: 20 October

• The World Osteoporosis Day (WOD) is observed globally on 20 October. The day is celebrated to raise global awareness of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease. WOD is organized by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), by the launch of a year-long campaign with a specific theme. WOD aims to make osteoporosis and fracture prevention a global health priority by reaching out to health-care professionals, the media, policymakers, patients, and the public at large.
• In 2020 the Global WOD Campaign theme is “THAT’S OSTEOPOROSIS”, highlighting emotionally impactful visuals and stories of real people living with osteoporosis in all regions of the world.
