दक्षिण कोरिया को मिलेगी 2025 तक स्थायी फ्लोटिंग सिटी 

• समुद्र के बढ़ते जल स्तर के कारण बाढ़ की समस्या से निपटने के लिए दक्षिण कोरिया को जल्द ही विश्‍व का पहला तैरता हुआ शहर मिलने वाला है। फ्लोटिंग सिटी प्रोजेक्ट यूएन ह्यूमन सेटलमेंट प्रोग्राम और ओशनिक्स का एक संयुक्त प्रयास है। यह शहर दक्षिण कोरिया में बुसान के तट पर बनाया जाएगा और इसके 2025 तक पूरा होने की संभावना है।
• तैरते हुए शहर में 'बाढ़-प्रूफ़ बुनियादी ढांचा' होगा और बाढ़ के जोखिम को खत्म करने के लिए कई मानव निर्मित द्वीप शामिल होंगे। आत्मनिर्भर शहर को विशेष रूप से सुनामी, बाढ़ और श्रेणी 5 के तूफान जैसी प्राकृतिक आपदाओं का सामना करने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया जाएगा।

 मरियम-वेबस्टर ने वर्ष 2021 शब्द के रूप में वैक्सीन का चयन किया

• अमेरिकी प्रकाशन कंपनी मरियम-वेबस्टर ने "वैक्सीन " शब्द को अपने 2021 वर्ड ऑफ द ईयर के रूप में चुना है। मरियम-वेबस्टर अंग्रेजी शब्द परिभाषाओं, अर्थों और उच्चारण के लिए अमेरिका का सबसे भरोसेमंद ऑनलाइन शब्दकोश है। यह 2008 से वर्ड ऑफ द ईयर घोषित कर रहा है। शब्द "वैक्सीन" में वर्ष 2020 की तुलना में परिभाषा लुकअप में 601 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि देखी गई।

कुलगाम में आयोजित हुआ पहला अहरबल महोत्सव

• कुलगाम जिला प्रशासन और पर्यटन विभाग, जम्मू और कश्मीर ने कश्मीर में पर्यटन को बढ़ावा देने के लिए, विशेष रूप से अहरबल जलप्रपात, कुलगाम, जम्मू और कश्मीर में पहली बार अहरबल महोत्सव का आयोजन किया। अहरबल जलप्रपात, जिसे कश्मीर के "नियाग्रा फॉल्स" के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, जम्मू और कश्मीर में कश्मीर घाटी के दक्षिण-पश्चिमी हिस्से में एक हिल स्टेशन है।
• विभाग ने उत्तरी कश्मीर के कुपवाड़ा जिले के चंडीगाम लोलाब में पहला लोलाब उत्सव एक दिवसीय उत्सव का आयोजन किया और दूधपथरी को एक आकर्षक पर्यटन स्थल के रूप में बढ़ावा देने के लिए बडगाम जम्मू और कश्मीर में दूधपथरी महोत्सव का 3 दिवसीय पर्यटन उत्सव आयोजित किया।

IISF 2021: विज्ञान फिल्म महोत्सव 10 दिसंबर से गोवा में 4 दिवसीय कार्यक्रम आयोजित

• चार दिवसीय भारत अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान महोत्सव (IISF) का 7 वां संस्करण 10 से 13 दिसंबर, 2021 तक पणजी, गोवा में आयोजित होने वाला है। 2021 में उत्सव का विषय "समृद्ध भारत के लिए विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी और नवाचार में रचनात्मकता का जश्न मनाना" है। पहला IISF 2015 में नई दिल्ली में आयोजित किया गया था।
• पृथ्वी विज्ञान मंत्रालय के तहत गोवा स्थित नेशनल सेंटर फॉर पोलर एंड ओशन रिसर्च (NCPOR), IISF 2021 को आयोजित करने वाली नोडल एजेंसी है। उत्सव का आयोजन परमाणु ऊर्जा विभाग (DAE), विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी (DST), जैव प्रौद्योगिकी (DBT), और अंतरिक्ष (DoS) और वैज्ञानिक और औद्योगिक अनुसंधान परिषद (CSIR) के साथ संयुक्त रूप से किया जाएगा।

यूएई के अहमद अल रायसी 4 वर्ष के कार्यकाल के लिए इंटरपोल के अध्यक्ष चुने गए

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आपराधिक पुलिस संगठन (INTERPOL) ने इस्तांबुल, तुर्की में आयोजित 89वीं इंटरपोल आम सभा की बैठक में 4 वर्ष के कार्यकाल के लिए महानिरीक्षक अहमद नासर अल-रईसी (संयुक्त अरब अमीरात) को अपना अध्यक्ष चुना है। उन्होंने दक्षिण कोरिया से किम जोंग यान की जगह ली है।
• अंतिम दौर में, संयुक्त अरब अमीरात के उम्मीदवार को सदस्य देशों द्वारा डाले गए 68.9 प्रतिशत वोट मिले। राष्ट्रपति के रूप में, अल रईसी की भूमिका उनके चार वर्ष के कार्यकाल के दौरान कार्यकारी समिति की बैठकों की अध्यक्षता करने की होगी जो महासभा में लिए गए निर्णयों के कार्यान्वयन की निगरानी करती है।

वयोवृद्ध ब्रॉडवे संगीतकार और गीतकार स्टीफन सोंडहाइम का 91 वर्ष की उम्र में निधन

• वयोवृद्ध संगीतकार और गीतकार, स्टीफन जोशुआ सोंडहाइम का 91 वर्ष की आयु में कनेक्टिकट, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका (यूएस) में निधन हो गया है। थिएटर में आजीवन उपलब्धि के लिए उन्हें 8 टोनी पुरस्कार, एक विशेष टोनी पुरस्कार 2008 मिला। उन्हें पुलित्जर पुरस्कार ('संडे इन द पार्क'), और 'सूनर ऑर लेटर' गीत के लिए एक अकादमी पुरस्कार भी मिला। आठ ग्रैमी पुरस्कार, स्वतंत्रता का राष्ट्रपति पदक 2015, आदि जैसे कई पुरस्कार भी जीते।

बीएसएफ स्थापना दिवस 2021: दिसंबर 01

• सीमा सुरक्षा बल (बीएसएफ) 01 दिसंबर 2021 को अपना 57वां स्थापना दिवस मना रहा है। सीमा सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए भारत-पाक और भारत-चीन युद्धों के बाद 1 दिसंबर, 1965 को एक एकीकृत केंद्रीय एजेंसी के रूप में बीएसएफ का गठन किया गया था। भारत और उससे जुड़े मामलों के लिए। यह भारत संघ के पांच केंद्रीय सशस्त्र पुलिस बलों में से एक है और विश्‍व की सबसे बड़ी सीमा सुरक्षा बल के रूप में खड़ा है। BSF को भारतीय क्षेत्रों की रक्षा की पहली पंक्ति कहा गया है।

एचएसबीसी इंडिया ने पुनर्नवीनीकरण पीवीसी प्लास्टिक क्रेडिट कार्ड लॉन्च किया

• एचएसबीसी इंडिया ने पुनर्नवीनीकरण पीवीसी (पॉलीविनाइल क्लोराइड) प्लास्टिक से बना भारत का पहला क्रेडिट कार्ड लॉन्च किया है। कार्डों को वैश्विक कार्ड निर्माता IDEMIA के साथ साझेदारी में पेश किया गया है ताकि धीरे-धीरे एकल-उपयोग वाले पीवीसी प्लास्टिक को खत्म किया जा सके। कार्ड 85 प्रतिशत पुनर्नवीनीकरण प्लास्टिक से बने हैं और प्रत्येक कार्ड समग्र कार्बन उत्सर्जन को कम करने में मदद करने के अलावा 3.18 ग्राम प्लास्टिक कचरे को बचाएगा।
• कार्ड को एचएसबीसी समूह द्वारा शुरू किए गए एक नए कार्यक्रम के एक हिस्से के रूप में लॉन्च किया गया था, जो कि 2030 तक अपने संचालन में स्थिरता और शुद्ध-शून्य के लिए अपनी वैश्विक प्रतिबद्धताओं का समर्थन करने के लिए अपने सभी वैश्विक स्थानों पर स्थायी कार्ड पेश करता है।

एलआईसी को केएमबी में हिस्सेदारी बढ़ाकर 9.9% करने के लिए आरबीआई की मंजूरी मिली

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने निजी ऋणदाता कोटक महिंद्रा बैंक में अपनी हिस्सेदारी बढ़ाकर 9.99 प्रतिशत करने के लिए जीवन बीमा निगम (LIC) को अपनी मंजूरी दे दी है। वर्तमान में, LIC के पास निजी ऋणदाता में 4.96% हिस्सेदारी है। कोटक महिंद्रा बैंक लिमिटेड को एलआईसी से एक सूचना मिली है जिसमें कहा गया है कि आरबीआई ने बैंक की चुकता इक्विटी शेयर पूंजी के 9.99 प्रतिशत तक बैंक में अपनी हिस्सेदारी बढ़ाने के लिए एलआईसी को अपनी मंजूरी दे दी है।
• केंद्रीय बैंक की मंजूरी एक वर्ष के लिए वैध होगी। आरबीआई के मानदंडों के अनुसार, निजी बैंकों में हिस्सेदारी 5 प्रतिशत से अधिक बढ़ाने के लिए आरबीआई की पूर्व स्वीकृति आवश्यक है।
• एलआईसी भारत के शेयर बाजार में सबसे बड़े संस्थागत निवेशकों में से एक है और कई निजी और सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों में इसकी हिस्सेदारी है। एलआईसी की 24 अनुसूचित वाणिज्यिक बैंकों में हिस्सेदारी है, जैसा कि कैपिटालाइन शो के आंकड़ों से पता चलता है।

South Korea hopes to build sustainable floating city by 2025

• South Korea is soon going to get the world’s first floating city, to deal with the problem of floods due to rising sea levels. The floating city project is a joint effort by the UN Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habit) and OCEANIX. The city will be built off the coast of Busan in South Korea and is likely to be completed by 2025.
• The floating city will have ‘flood-proof infrastructure’ and comprise several man-made islands to eliminate the risk of flooding. The self-sufficient city will be specifically designed to withstand natural disasters like tsunamis, floods, and Category 5 hurricanes.

 Merriam-Webster chooses vaccine as the 2021 word of the year

• The American publishing company Merriam-Webster has chosen the word “vaccine” as its 2021 Word of the Year. Merriam-Webster is America’s most trusted online dictionary for English word definitions, meanings, and pronunciation. It has been declaring the word of the year since 2008. The word “vaccine” saw a 601 percent increase in definition lookups over the year, compared to 2020.

First ever Aharbal Festival held in Kulgam 

• Kulgam district administration and the Department of Tourism, Jammu & Kashmir organized the 1st ever Aharbal Festival at Kulgam, J & K to promote tourism in Kashmir, particularly at the Aharbal waterfall. Aharbal falls, also known as “Niagara Falls” of Kashmir, is a hill station in the southwestern part of Kashmir Valley in the Jammu and Kashmir.
• The department organized the 1st ever Lolab festival, a one-day festival at Chandigam Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, J&K, and Doodhpathri Festival, a 3-day tourism festival at Budgam, J&K, to promote Doodhpathri as an attractive tourist destination.

IISF 2021: Science Film Festival To Be Part Of 4-Day Event In Goa From December 10

• The 7th edition of the four-day India International Science Festival (IISF) is scheduled to be held in Panaji, Goa, from December 10 to 13, 2021. The festival theme in 2021 is “Celebrating Creativity in Science, Technology and Innovation for Prosperous India”. The first IISF was held in New Delhi in 2015.
• The Goa-based National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, is the nodal agency to organise IISF 2021. The festival will be organised jointly with the Departments of Atomic Energy (DAE), Science and Technology (DST), Biotechnology (DBT), and Space (DoS) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

UAE’s Ahmed Al Raisi elected Interpol president for 4-year term

• The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) has elected Inspector General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi (United Arab Emirates) as its President for a 4-year term at the 89th Interpol general assembly meeting held in Istanbul, Turkey. He replaces Kim Jong Yan from South Korea.
• In the final round, the UAE candidate received 68.9 per cent of votes cast by member countries. As president, Al Raisi’s role during his four-year term will be to chair meetings of the executive committee which supervises the implementation of decisions taken at the General Assembly.

Stephen Sondheim, Titan of the American Musical, Is Dead at 91

• Veteran composer and lyricist, Stephen Joshua Sondheim has passed away at the age of 91 in Connecticut, United States (US). He received 8 Tony Awards, a Special Tony Award 2008 for lifetime achievement in the theatre. He also received a Pulitzer Prize (‘Sunday in the Park’), and an Academy Award for the song ‘Sooner or Later’. Also won several awards like eight Grammy Awards, Presidential Medal of Freedom 2015, etc.

BSF Raising Day 2021: December 01

• The Border Security Force (BSF) is celebrating its 57th Raising Day on 01 December 2021. BSF was formed on December 1, 1965 as a unified central agency after the Indo-Pak and India-China wars for ensuring the security of the borders of India and for matters connected therewith. It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces of the Union of India and stands as the world’s largest border guarding force. BSF has been termed as the First Line of Defence of Indian Territories.

• A book titled ‘Indian Innings: The Journey of Indian Cricket from 1947’ authored by Ayaz Memon released. The book has covered the era of veteran cricketers K N Prabhu to P N Sundaresan and Dicky Rutnagar to Ramachandra Guha and Suresh Menon, those years of famous victories consist of experiences about World Cups, various Test cricket, etc.

HSBC India launches recycled PVC plastic credit card

• HSBC India has launched India’s 1st credit card made from recycled PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) plastic. The cards have been introduced in partnership with global cards manufacturer IDEMIA to gradually eliminate single-use PVC plastic. The cards are made from 85 per cent recycled plastic and each card will save 3.18gm of plastic waste in addition to helping lower overall carbon emission.
• The card was launched as a part of a new program launched by HSBC Group to introduce sustainable cards across all its global locations to support its global commitments to sustainability and a net-zero in its operations by 2030.

 LIC gets RBI approval to hike stake in KMB to 9.9%

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given its approval to Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) to raise its stake in private lender Kotak Mahindra Bank to 9.99 per cent. Currently, LIC holds 4.96% stake in the private lender. Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited has received an intimation from LIC stating that the RBI had granted its approval to LIC, for increasing its holding in the Bank up to 9.99 per cent of the paid-up equity share capital of the Bank.
• The approval of the central bank will be valid for one year. As per RBI norms, prior approval of the RBI is required to increase the stake in private banks beyond 5 per cent.
• LIC is one of the biggest institutional investors in India’s stock market and has a stake in a number of private and public sector banks. LIC has a stake in as many 24 scheduled commercial banks, data from Capitaline shows.
