21वीं शंघाई सहयोग संगठन की बैठक

• शंघाई सहयोग संगठन (SCO) के राष्ट्राध्यक्षों की परिषद की 21वीं बैठक 17 सितंबर, 2021 को दुशांबे, ताजिकिस्तान में हाइब्रिड प्रारूप में आयोजित की गई थी। बैठक ताजिकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति एमोमली रहमन की अध्यक्षता में हुई। यह हाइब्रिड प्रारूप में आयोजित पहला एससीओ शिखर सम्मेलन और चौथा शिखर सम्मेलन था जिसमें भारत ने एससीओ के पूर्ण सदस्य के रूप में भाग लिया था।
• भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने किया, जिन्होंने वीडियो-लिंक के माध्यम से बैठक में भाग लिया और दुशांबे में, भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व विदेश मंत्री डॉ एस जयशंकर ने किया। पीएम मोदी ने अफगानिस्तान में मौजूदा व्यवस्था के संबंध में वैश्विक विचार-विमर्श में संयुक्त राष्ट्र की "केंद्रीय भूमिका" के लिए भारत का समर्थन व्यक्त किया है।

पूर्व भारतीय खिलाड़ी भबानी रॉय का निधन

• भारत के पूर्व फुटबॉलर और मोहन बागान के कप्तान भबानी रॉय का निधन हो गया। वह 1966 में बागान में शामिल हुए और 1972 तक क्लब के लिए खेले। उन्होंने 1969 मर्डेका कप में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया और तीन मैच खेले।
• भबानी रॉय ने मोहन बागान को 1968, 1970, 1971 और 1972 (संयुक्त विजेता) में रोवर्स कप जीतने में मदद की थी। घरेलू स्तर पर, वह 1968 और 1971 में संतोष ट्रॉफी जीतने वाली पश्चिम बंगाल टीम का हिस्सा थे।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समान वेतन दिवस 2021: 18 सितंबर

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समान वेतन दिवस 18 सितंबर को मनाया जाता है। दिन का उद्घाटन संस्करण वर्ष 2020 में मनाया गया। दिन का उद्देश्य समान मूल्य के काम के लिए समान वेतन प्राप्त करना और महिलाओं और लड़कियों के खिलाफ भेदभाव सहित सभी प्रकार के भेदभाव के खिलाफ दीवार दीवारों को तोड़ना है।
• संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने 15 नवंबर, 2019 को 18 सितंबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समान वेतन दिवस के रूप में मनाने के लिए एक प्रस्ताव अपनाया, जिसे समान वेतन अंतर्राष्ट्रीय गठबंधन (EPIC) द्वारा पेश किया गया था। प्रस्ताव को कुल 105 सदस्य देशों द्वारा सह-प्रायोजित किया गया था। साथ ही श्रमिकों और नियोक्ताओं के संगठनों, और व्यवसायों के योगदान को मान्यता देते हुए, संकल्प ने समान वेतन प्राप्त करने के लिए EPIC के कार्य और योगदान को भी स्वीकार किया।

 विश्व बांस दिवस 2021: 18 सितंबर

• बांस के लाभों के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने और रोजमर्रा के उत्पादों में इसके उपयोग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए प्रतिवर्ष 18 सितंबर को विश्व बांस दिवस मनाया जाता है। मुख्य रूप से पूर्व और दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया में विभिन्न उद्देश्यों के लिए बांस का उपयोग किया जाता है। बांस पोएसी परिवार की एक लंबी, पेड़ जैसी घास है। इसमें 115 से अधिक जेनेरा और 1,400 प्रजातियां शामिल हैं।
• WBD 2021 के 12वें संस्करण की थीम '#बैम्बू प्लांट : यह समय बैम्बू प्लांट लगाना (#PlantBamboo: It Is Time To Plant Bamboo)' है।
• WBD को आधिकारिक तौर पर विश्व बांस संगठन द्वारा 18 सितंबर को बैंकॉक में 2009 में आयोजित 8 वीं विश्व बांस कांग्रेस में घोषित किया गया था। डब्ल्यूबीओ का उद्देश्य बांस की क्षमता को और अधिक विस्तार देना, विश्‍व भर के क्षेत्रों में नए उद्योगों के लिए बांस की नई खेती को बढ़ावा देना और सामुदायिक आर्थिक विकास आदि के लिए स्थानीय स्तर पर पारंपरिक उपयोगों को बढ़ावा देना है।

• विश्व जल निगरानी दिवस 2003 से प्रतिवर्ष 18 सितंबर को मनाया जाता है ताकि विश्‍व भर में जल निगरानी और जल संसाधनों की सुरक्षा में जन जागरूकता और भागीदारी बढ़ाई जा सके। यह दिन विश्‍व भर में जल निगरानी और जल संसाधनों की सुरक्षा में जन जागरूकता और भागीदारी बढ़ाने के लिए मनाया जाता है। विश्व जल निगरानी दिवस सभी उम्र के लोगों को स्थानीय नदियों, नालों, ज्वारनदमुख (estuaries) और अन्य जल निकायों की स्थिति की निगरानी में संलग्न करता है। विश्व जल दिवस 2021 की थीम पानी का महत्व है।
• यह दिन 2003 में अमेरिका के क्लीन वाटर फाउंडेशन (ACWF) द्वारा एक वैश्विक शैक्षिक आउटरीच कार्यक्रम के रूप में नागरिकों को उनके स्थानीय जल निकायों की बुनियादी निगरानी करने के लिए संलग्न करके स्थापित किया गया था। यह आयोजन अब जल पर्यावरण संघ और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय जल संघ द्वारा समन्वित है।

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय तटीय सफाई दिवस पारंपरिक रूप से सितंबर के तीसरे शनिवार को मनाया जाता है। 2021 में यह दिन 18 सितंबर को पड़ रहा है। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय तटीय सफाई दिवस 2021 का विषय: "कचरा बिन में रखें, समुद्र में नहीं (Keep trash in the bin and not in the ocean)" है। तटीय सफाई दिवस की स्थापना ओशन कंजरवेंसी द्वारा की गई थी, जो एक ऐसा संगठन है जो समुद्र को प्रतिवर्ष आने वाली चुनौतियों से बचाने में मदद करता है।
• पहला अंतर्राष्ट्रीय तटीय सफाई दिवस 1986 में मनाया गया था। इस दिन का उद्देश्य महासागरों, समुद्र तटों और समुद्र तटों पर कूड़े के संचय और नकारात्मक प्रभावों के बारे में जन जागरूकता बढ़ाना है।

• पुलित्जर पुरस्कार विजेता प्रख्यात कथा लेखिका, झुम्पा लाहिड़ी, अपनी नई पुस्तक 'ट्रांसलेटिंग माईसेल्फ एंड अदर' को लॉन्च करने के लिए तैयार हैं, जो एक अनुवादक के रूप में उनके काम को उजागर करेगी। नई किताब को 2022 के वसंत में प्रकाशित करने की योजना है।
• यह निबंधों का एक संग्रह होगा जो अनुवाद के अर्थ, अपने स्वयं के लेखन का अनुवाद और सभी भाषाओं में लेखन पर लाहिड़ी के अनुभवों को दर्शाता है। पुस्तक का प्रकाशन प्रिंसटन यूनिवर्सिटी प्रेस द्वारा किया जाएगा।

सीटीओ के रूप में आरबीआई इनोवेशन हब

• भारतीय स्टेट बैंक के ग्लोबल डिप्टी सीटीओ, अमित सक्सेना आरबीआई इनोवेशन हब में मुख्य प्रौद्योगिकी अधिकारी (CTO) के रूप में शामिल हुए हैं। रिज़र्व बैंक ने घोषणा की कि वह प्रौद्योगिकी का लाभ उठाकर और नवाचार को बढ़ावा देने वाले वातावरण का निर्माण करके वित्तीय क्षेत्र में नवाचार को बढ़ावा देने के लिए रिज़र्व बैंक इनोवेशन हब (RBIH) स्थापित करेगा।
• RBIH एक ऐसा पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र तैयार करेगा जो वित्तीय सेवाओं और उत्पादों तक पहुंच को बढ़ावा देने पर ध्यान केंद्रित करेगा। इससे वित्तीय समावेशन को भी बढ़ावा मिलेगा।
• हब वित्तीय क्षेत्र के संस्थानों, प्रौद्योगिकी उद्योग और शैक्षणिक संस्थानों के साथ सहयोग करेगा और विचारों के आदान-प्रदान और वित्तीय नवाचारों से संबंधित प्रोटोटाइप के विकास के प्रयासों का समन्वय करेगा।

21st  Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Meeting

• The 21st Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State was held in hybrid format on September 17, 2021, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon. This was the first SCO Summit held in a hybrid format and the fourth Summit in which India participated as a full-fledged member of SCO.
• The Indian delegation was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who participated in the meeting via video-link and at Dushanbe, India was represented by External Affairs Minister, Dr S. Jaishankar. PM Modi has expressed India’s support for the “central role” of the United Nations in the global deliberation regarding the current system in Afghanistan.

 OBITUARY

Former Indian player Bhabani Roy passed away

• Former India footballer and Mohun Bagan captain, Bhabani Roy passed away. He was joined Bagan in 1966 and played for the club till 1972.
• He represented India in the 1969 Merdeka Cup and played in three matches. Bhabani Roy helped Mohun Bagan win the Rovers Cup in 1968, 1970, 1971 and 1972 (Joint Winner). At the domestic level, he was part of the West Bengal team that won the Santosh Trophy in 1968 and 1971.

International Equal Pay Day 2021: 18th  September

• International Equal Pay Day is celebrated on 18 September. The inaugural edition of the day was observed in the year 2020. The day aims to achieve equal pay for work of equal value and break the walls against all forms of discrimination, including discrimination against women and girls.
• The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution to observe September 18 as International Equal Pay Day, on November 15, 2019, which was introduced by the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC). The resolution was co-sponsored by a total of 105 member states. As well as recognising the contribution of workers’ and employers’ organizations, and businesses, the resolution also acknowledged the work and contribution of EPIC to achieving equal pay.

 World Bamboo Day 2021: 18th September

• World Bamboo Day is observed every year on 18 September to raise awareness of the benefits of bamboo and to promote its use in everyday products. Bamboos are used for various purposes mainly in East and Southeast Asia. Bamboo is a tall, tree-like grass of the family Poaceae. It comprises more than 115 genera and 1,400 species.
• The theme for the 12th edition of WBD 2021 is ‘#PlantBamboo: It Is Time To Plant Bamboo’
• WBD was officially declared by the World Bamboo Organization on September 18 at the 8th World Bamboo Congress held in Bangkok in 2009. The aim of the WBO is to bring the potential of bamboo to more elevated exposure, to promote new cultivation of bamboo for new industries in regions across the world, and also to promote traditional uses locally for community economic development, etc.

 World Water Monitoring Day 2021: 18th  September

• The World Water Monitoring Day is observed every year on September 18 since 2003 to increase public awareness and involvement in water monitoring and protecting water resources around the world. This day is celebrated to increase public awareness and involvement in water monitoring and protecting water resources around the world. World Water Monitoring Day engages people of all ages in monitoring the condition of local rivers, streams, estuaries and other water bodies. The theme of World Water Day 2021 is valuing water.
• The day was established in 2003 by America’s Clean Water Foundation (ACWF) as a global educational outreach program by engaging citizens to conduct basic monitoring of their local water bodies. The event is now coordinated by the Water Environment Federation and the International Water Association.

 International Coastal Clean-Up Day 2021: 18th September

• The International Coastal Cleanup Day is traditionally held on the third Saturday in September. In 2021, the day is being held on 18 September. The theme of International Coastal Clean-Up Day 2021: “Keep trash in the bin and not in the ocean”. Coastal Cleanup Day was established by the Ocean Conservancy, an organization that works to help protect the ocean from the challenges it faces every year.
• The first International Coastal Cleanup Day was observed in 1986. The day aims to increase public awareness about the accumulation and negative impacts of litter in oceans, on coastlines and on beaches.

Book ‘Translating Myself and Others’ by Jhumpa Lahiri 

• The Pulitzer Prize-winning noted fiction writer, Jhumpa Lahiri, is set to launch her new book titled ‘Translating Myself and Others’, which will highlight her work as a translator. The new book is planned to be out in Spring 2022.
• It will be a collection of essays that reflect Lahiri’s experiences on the meaning of translation, translating her own writing, and writing across languages. The book will be published by Princeton University Press.

RBI Innovation Hub as CTO

• Global Deputy CTO of State Bank of India, Amit Saxena has joined RBI Innovation Hub as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The Reserve Bank announced that it would set up Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) to promote innovation across the financial sector by leveraging on technology and creating an environment that would facilitate and foster innovation.
• The RBIH shall create an ecosystem that would focus on promoting access to financial services and products. This will also promote financial inclusion.
• The Hub will collaborate with financial sector institutions, the technology industry, and academic institutions and coordinate efforts for the exchange of ideas and development of prototypes related to financial innovations.
