जम्मू और कश्मीर के उपराज्यपाल ने 'माई टाउन माई प्राइड' कार्यक्रम की घोषणा की

• जम्मू और कश्मीर के उपराज्यपाल, मनोज सिन्हा ने घोषणा की है कि सरकार 19 अक्टूबर से 'माई टाउन माई प्राइड' नामक आंदोलन शुरू कर रही है, जो शहरी क्षेत्रों में 'बैक टू विलेज' कार्यक्रम की तर्ज पर शासन प्रदान करने के लिए है।
• कार्यक्रम के तीन मुख्य उद्देश्य:

1. कस्बों में सार्वजनिक पहुंच
2. जमीनी लोकतंत्र को मजबूत करना
3. दरवाजे पर सेवा प्रदान करना है

• "माई टाउन माई प्राइड" की विशेषताएं:

1. यह कार्यक्रम ऑन-द-स्पॉट शिकायत निवारण, जनता तक सेवाओं की जल्द डिलीवरी और जन-केंद्रित परियोजनाओं का तेजी से निष्पादन भी सुनिश्चित करेगा।
2. "माई टाउन माई प्राइड" कार्यक्रम डोमिसाइल, एससी / एसटी / आरबीए / एएलसी / ओबीसी प्रमाण पत्र, राजस्व सेवाओं जैसे दस्तावेजों के समयबद्ध वितरण का अनुमान लगाता है.
3. यह कार्यक्रम पेंशन, छात्रवृत्ति, पीएमएवाई, केसीसी, स्वास्थ्य स्वर्ण कार्ड, लाडली बेटी, आदि जैसी विभिन्न कल्याणकारी योजनाओं के लाभों की समयबद्ध डिलीवरी भी सुनिश्चित करेगा।

भारत की परमाणु सक्षम PRITHVI II मिसाइल का रात्रि परीक्षण सफल

• भारत ने हाल ही में स्वदेशी रूप से विकसित परमाणु सक्षम पृथ्वी II मिसाइल का रात्रि परीक्षण किया एवं परीक्षण सफल रहा। यह परीक्षण ओडिशा के बालासोर स्थित एकीकृत परीक्षण रेंज में आयोजित किया गया था।
• पृथ्वी II सतह से सतह पर मार करने वाली मिसाइल है। पृथ्वी II का पहला परीक्षण सितंबर 2020 में किया गया था। इस प्रक्षेपण का संचालन सामरिक बल कमान द्वारा किया गया था। मिसाइल के पूर्ण परीक्षण की निगरानी रक्षा अनुसंधान विकास संगठन द्वारा की गई।
• इस मिसाइल की रेंज 25-350 किलोमीटर है। यह 500 किलोग्राम से 1000 किलोग्राम परमाणु सामग्री ले जाने में सक्षम है। यह लिक्विड प्रोपल्शन सिंगल इंजन द्वारा संचालित है और सिंगल स्टेज मिसाइल है। यह उन्नत जड़त्वीय मार्गदर्शन प्रणाली का उपयोग करता है। इसे पहली बार 2003 में भारतीय रक्षा प्रणाली में शामिल किया गया था।

DRDO परीक्षण ने BRHMOS मिसाइल के नौसेना संस्करण का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया

• 18 अक्टूबर, 2020 को, रक्षा अनुसंधान विकास संगठन परीक्षण ने INS चेन्नई से नौसेना संस्करण BRAHMOS मिसाइल को सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया। इस मिसाइल का परीक्षण स्वदेशी रूप से निर्मित स्टील्थ विध्वंसक आईएनएस चेन्नई से किया गया था। मिसाइल ने अरब सागर में निशाना साधा।
• ब्राह्मोस एक सुपरसोनिक मिसाइल है। यह भारत और रूस द्वारा संयुक्त रूप से विकसित किया गया था।
• मिसाइलों का प्रमुख वर्गीकरण क्रूज़ मिसाइल और बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल हैं।
• बैलिस्टिक मिसाइलें वे मिसाइलें हैं जिनके पास एक बैलिस्टिक प्रक्षेपवक्र है। वर्तमान में भारतीय रक्षा प्रणालियों में प्रचालित बैलिस्टिक मिसाइलें हैं पृथ्वी I, अग्नि I, पृथ्वी II, अग्नि II और धनुष।

IWF ने माइकल ईरानी को अंतरिम अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया

• ग्रेट ब्रिटेन (GBR) के डॉ. माइकल ईरानी को IWF के संविधान के अनुसार IWF के कार्यकारी बोर्ड की बैठक में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय भारोत्तोलन महासंघ (IWF) के अंतरिम अध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।
• माइकल ईरानी को IWF के अध्यक्ष तामस अजान के इस्तीफे के बाद नियुक्त किया गया था। इससे पहले, माइकल ईरानी IWF चिकित्सा समिति के अध्यक्ष के रूप में सेवारत थे।

 विशाल वी शर्मा को यूनेस्को में भारत का अगला स्थायी प्रतिनिधि नियुक्त किया

• विशाल वी शर्मा को राजदूत के पद के साथ संयुक्त राष्ट्र शैक्षिक, वैज्ञानिक और सांस्कृतिक संगठन (यूनेस्को) के लिए भारत के स्थायी प्रतिनिधिमंडल के लिए भारत के अगले स्थायी प्रतिनिधि के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।
• वह जावेद अशरफ की जगह लेंगे। शर्मा के शीघ्र ही कार्यभार संभालने की उम्मीद है।

राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा गार्ड का 36 वां स्थापना दिवस

• राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा गार्ड (एनएसजी) का स्थापना दिवस 16 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाता है यह 36 वां स्थापना दिवस था। भारत के सुरक्षा तंत्र में NSG की अहम भूमिका है। इसे अत्यंत साहस और व्यावसायिकता के साथ जोड़ा गया है।
• एनएसजी आतंकवाद विरोधी गतिविधियों से निपटने के लिए एक संघीय प्रासंगिकत शक्ति है। एनएसजी एक ऐसी ताकत है जो विशिष्ट स्थिति से निपटने के लिए सुसज्जित और प्रशिक्षित है और इसलिए इसका उपयोग असाधारण परिस्थितियों में आतंकवाद के गंभीर कृत्यों को विफल करने के लिए किया जाता है।
• इसे 1984 में स्थापित किया गया था, एनएसजी लोकप्रिय रूप से ब्लैक कैट के रूप में जाना जाता है। यह एक आतंकवादी हमले, अपहरण, और बंधक बंदी जैसी स्थितियों को संभालने के लिए प्रशिक्षित और सुसज्जित, देश में एक कुलीन स्ट्राइक फोर्स है।

• प्रसिद्ध लेखक और राजनीतिज्ञ, शशि थरूर अपनी नई किताब "द बैटल ऑफ बिलॉन्गिंग" का विमोचन नवंबर 2020 में करने के लिए तैयार हैं। यह पुस्तक एलेफ बुक कंपनी द्वारा प्रकाशित की गई है। शशि थरूर ने इस पुस्तक को दुनिया भर में और विशेष रूप से भारत में राष्ट्रवाद के सिद्धांत, विकास और अभ्यास का वर्णन अपने "मैग्नम ऑपस" के रूप में किया है।
• यह पुस्तक उनकी पुस्तक "व्हाई आई एम ए हिन्दू" का विस्तार स्वरूप है।

J&K L-G announces ‘My Town My Pride’ programme

• Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha has announced that the government is coming up with a movement called ”My Town My Pride” from October 19 to provide governance at the doorsteps in urban areas on the pattern of the ”Back to Village” programme.
• The three main objectives of the programme:

1. Public outreach in towns
2. Strengthening grassroots democracy
3. Service delivery at doorsteps

• The programme will also ensure that on-the-spot grievance redressal, instant delivery of services to the masses, and on the ground speedy execution of people-centric projects.
• The “My Town My Pride” programme anticipates the time-bound delivery of documents like domicile, SC/ST/RBA/ALC/OBC certificates, revenue services.
• This programme will also ensure the time-bound delivery of benefits of various welfare schemes like pensions, scholarships, PMAY, KCC, Health golden cards, Ladli Beti, etc.

India’s night trial of Nuclear Capable PRITHVI II missile successful

• India recently conducted the night trial of indigenously developed nuclear capable Prithvi II missile. The test was successful. The test was conducted at the Integrated Test Range, Balasore, Odisha.
• Prithvi II is a surface-to-surface missile. The first trial of Prithvi II was conducted in September 2020. The launch was conducted by the Strategic Force Command. The complete trial of the missile was monitored by Defence Research Development Organization.
• The missile has a range of 25-350 kilometres. It is capable of carrying 500 kg to 1000 kg of Nuclear material. It is powered by Liquid Propulsion Single Engine and is a single stage missile. It uses advanced inertial guidance system. It was first inducted into the Indian Defence System in 2003.

DRDO test fires Naval Version of BRAHMOS missile successfully

• On October 18, 2020, the Defence Research Development Organization test fired the naval version BRAHMOS missile from INS Chennai successfully. The missile was test fired from an indigenously built stealth destroyer INS Chennai. The missile hit a target in Arabian Sea.
• BRAHMOS is a supersonic missile. It was jointly developed by India and Russia.
• The major classification of the missiles is Cruise Missiles and Ballistic Missiles.
• The Ballistic Missiles are those missiles that have a ballistic trajectory. The currently operational ballistic missiles in the Indian Defence Systems are Prithvi I, Agni I, Prithvi II, Agni II and Dhanush.

IWF appoint Michael Irani as interim president

• Dr Michael Irani of Great Britain (GBR) has been appointed as the Interim President of the International Weightlifting Federation(IWF), at the meeting of the IWF Executive Board, in accordance with the constitution of IWF. Michael Irani was appointed following the resignation of IWF President Tamás Aján. Prior to this, Michael Irani was serving as the chairman of the IWF Medical Committee.
• Michael Irani was born in Bombay, India.
• Michael Irani is a leading physician in Rheumatology who works as a Consultant Rheumatologist at Ashford Hospital NHS Trust.
• He was the former Chairman of the anti-doping Commission of IWF.
• He was a member of the IWF Medical Committee since 1992.
• He served as the President of the European Weightlifting Federation(EWF) Medical Committee from 1995 to 1999.

Vishal V Sharma appointed India’s next permanent representative to UNESCO

• Vishal V. Sharma has been appointed as the next Permanent Representative of India to the Permanent Delegation of India to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with the rank of Ambassador. He will replace Jawed Ashraf. Sharma is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

36th Raising Day of National Security Guard

• The 36th Raising Day of National Security Guard (NSG) is observed on 16 October. NSG plays a crucial role in India’s security apparatus. It has been associated with the utmost courage and professionalism.
• The NSG is a Federal Contingency force to deal with anti-terrorist activities. The NSG is a force equipped and trained to deal with the specific situation and is therefore used in exceptional circumstances to thwart serious acts of terrorism. It was established in 1984, NSG is popularly known as the Black Cats. It is an elite striking force in the country trained and equipped to handle situations like a terrorist attack, hijacking, and hostage captivity.

A book titled ‘The Battle of Belonging’ authored by Shashi Tharoor

• Renowned Author and Politician, Shashi Tharoor is set to release his new book titled “The Battle of Belonging” is set to be released in November 2020. The book is published by Aleph Book Company. Shashi Tharoor described this book as his “magnum opus” on the Theory, evolution and practice of Nationalism across the globe and especially in India.
• The book appears to be an extension of his book “Why I Am a Hindu”.
• It provides the historical context to the ideas of nationalism, patriotism, humanism, democracy and their origins.
• This book established the actual Indianism and what it means to be a patriotic and nationalistic Indian in the 21st century.
