UN की 75 वीं वर्षगांठ पर ECOSOC को संबोधित करेंगे PM मोदी

• पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी संयुक्त राष्ट्र की 75 वीं वर्षगांठ के अवसर पर 17 जुलाई को आर्थिक और सामाजिक परिषद (ECOSOC) के सत्र को संबोधित करेंगे।
• संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद में चुने जाने के बाद यह संयुक्त राष्ट्र में पीएम मोदी का पहला भाषण होगा। प्रधानमंत्री के अलावा नॉर्वे के पीएम एर्ना सोलबर्ग और संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव एंटोनियो गुटेरेस भी इस कार्यक्रम को संबोधित करेंगे।
• ईसीओएसओसी द्वारा प्रतिवर्ष आयोजित किए जाने वाले उच्च-स्तरीय सेगमेंट का विषय "C-19 के बाद बहुपक्षवाद है: 75 वीं वर्षगांठ पर हमें किस तरह के यूएन की आवश्यकता है"। 

DRDO ने विकसित किया पी-7 हेवी ड्रॉप सिस्टम, 7 टन के भार को विमान से गिराने में सक्षम

रक्षा अनुसंधान एवं विकास संगठन (DRDO) ने पी-7 हेवी ड्रॉप सिस्टम (P7 Heavy Drop System) विकसित किया है। इसके जरिए 7-टन वजन तक के सैन्य उपकरणों को आईएल 76 विमान से नीचे गिराया जा सकेगा। पी-7 हैवी ड्रॉप सिस्टम की मदद से दुर्गम स्थलों पर सैन्य वाहनों (सात टन वजन तक के) को उतारा जा सकेगा। इससे दुश्मन को मुंहतोड़ जवाब दिया जा सकेगा।

बुधवार को आगरा के मलपुरा स्थित ड्रॉपिंग जोन में इसका ट्रायल किया गया। यह ट्रायल कई मायने में बेहतरीन है।यह उपलब्धि हवाई वितरण अनुसंधान एवं विकास संस्थापन (एडीआरडीई) हासिल कर रहा है। एडीआरडीई ने कुछ साल पूर्व हैवी ड्रॉप सिस्टम विकसित किया था। पैराशूट की मदद से पांच टन तक के वजन के सामान को जमीन पर आसानी से उतारा जा सकता है जबकि, अब सात टन वजन के सामान को उतारने के लिए पी-7 हैवी ड्रॉप सिस्टम विकसित किया जा रहा है। 

भारत का पहला केबल-स्टेन्ड रेलवे ब्रिज अंजीखड़ पुल का निर्माण किया जा रहा

• जम्मू-कश्मीर के कटरा और रियासी खंड को जम्मू-बारामूला लाइन से जोड़ने के लिए भारतीय रेलवे द्वारा भारत का पहला केबल-स्टेन्ड रेलवे ब्रिज अंजीखड़ पुल का निर्माण किया जा रहा है।
• भारत सरकार के उपक्रम कोंकण रेलवे कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड द्वारा 458 करोड़ के रेलवे पुल का विकास किया जा रहा है।
• अंजीखड़पुल की कुल लंबाई 473.25 मीटर है, जो चिनाब नदी के तल से 331 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर है।

 बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

चालू वित्त वर्ष में 9.5 फीसदी घट सकती है भारत की जीडीपी: ICRA

रेटिंग एजेंसी ICRA ने भारत की जीडीपी ग्रोथ में भारी कमी की है, देश में C-19 के बढ़ते  संक्रमण को रोकने के लिए किए गए C-19 की वजह से अर्थव्यवस्था पर काफी चोट पड़ी है और इस दौर में भारत के सकल घरेलू उत्पाद में काफी कमी आ सकती है। रेटिंग एजेंसी ने कहा है कि भारत की जीडीपी विकास दर चालू वित्त वर्ष में -9.5 फीसदी रह सकती है।

घरेलू रेटिंग एजेंसी इकरा ने चालू कारोबारी साल में देश की जीडीपी में गिरावट के अपने अनुमान को और बढ़ा दिया है। एजेंसी ने कहा है कि चालू कारोबारी साल में देश की जीडीपी में 9.5 फीसदी की गिरावट आ सकती है।

रेटिंग एजेंसी ने इससे पहले चालू कारोबारी साल में देश की जीडीपी में 5 फीसदी गिरावट का अनुमान जताया था। ICRA ने हालांकि कहा है कि चालू कारोबारी साल में कृषि जीवीए में 3.5-4 फीसदी की वृद्धि हो सकती है।

सीपीजे इंटरनेशनल प्रेस स्वतंत्रता पुरस्कार 2020 की घोषणा की

• कमेटी टू प्रोटेक्ट जर्नलिस्ट (CPJ) ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रेस स्वतंत्रता पुरस्कार 2020 के विजेताओं की घोषणा की है जिसमें बांग्लादेश से शाहिदुल आलम, ईरान से मोहम्मद मोसेद, नाइजीरिया से डापो ओलरुन्योमी और रूस से स्वेतलाना प्रोकोपोवा शामिल हैं।
• सभी चार पत्रकारों को उनकी रिपोर्टिंग के लिए प्रतिशोध में गिरफ्तारी या आपराधिक मुकदमा का सामना करना पड़ा है। उनके अलावा, वकील अमल क्लूनी को ग्वेन इफिल प्रेस फ्रीडम अवार्ड 2020 से सम्मानित किया जाएगा। 

खेल

कतर में 2022 फीफा विश्व कप आयोजित किया जाएगा

15 जुलाई, 2020 को फीफा ने घोषणा की कि 2022 विश्व कप कतर में आयोजित किया जायेगा। फीफा ने मैचों की अनुसूची भी जारी की।

2022 का फीफा विश्व कप अरब विश्व में आयोजित होने वाला पहला विश्व कप होगा और मुस्लिम बहुल देश में पहला भी होगा। विश्व कप 32 टीमों को शामिल करने वाला अंतिम टूर्नामेंट होगा क्योंकि 2026 टूर्नामेंट में टीमों को 48 तक बढ़ाया जायेगा।

यह टूर्नामेंट नवंबर-दिसंबर में होना है। टूर्नामेंट का अंतिम मैच 18 दिसंबर, 2020 को निर्धारित किया गया है, जो कतर नेशनल डे भी है।

भारत ने कभी फीफा विश्व कप में भाग नहीं लिया। भारतीय राष्ट्रीय टीम 2019 में जारी नवीनतम फीफा रैंकिंग में 108 रैंक पर है।  भारतीय फुटबॉल टीम ने एएफसी एशियाई कप और ओलंपिक में भाग लिया है।

नेल्सन मंडेला अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस 2020

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र प्रत्‍येक वर्ष 18 जुलाई को नेल्सन मंडेला अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस के रूप में मनाता है। यह दिन अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर लोकतंत्र के लिए संघर्ष और दुनिया भर में शांति की संस्कृति को बढ़ावा देने में नेल्सन मंडेला के योगदान को स्वीकार करता है। नेल्सन मंडेला दिवस सभी के लिए कार्रवाई करने और परिवर्तन को प्रेरित करने का एक अवसर है।

PM Modi to address ECOSOC on 75th anniversary of UN

• PM Narendra Modi will be virtually addressing the session of Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on 17th July on the occasion of 75th anniversary of the United Nations.
• This will be PM Modi's first speech at the UN after being elected to the UN Security Council. Besides the Prime Minister, Norway PM Erna Solberg and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will also be addressing the event.
• The theme of the High-Level Segment which is held annually by ECOSOC is “Multilateralism after C-19: What kind of UN do we need at the 75th anniversary”.

DRDO developed fully indigenous P7 Heavy Drop System for IL 76 aircraft

• Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed the P7 Heavy Drop System which is capable of para dropping military stores up to 7-ton weight class from IL 76 aircraft.
• The design of this fully indigenous system has been developed by Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE), a pioneer Research & Development (R&D) lab of DRDO based in Agra, Uttar Pradesh (UP).
• It’s platform system manufactured by L&T (Larsen & Toubro) while parachutes manufactured by Ordnance Factory. 

Indian Railways first cable-stayed bridge ‘AnjiKhad Bridge’ being set up in Jammu & Kashmir

• India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge ‘AnjiKhad bridge ‘is being constructed by the Indian Railways’ in Jammu & Kashmir to connect Katra and Reasi Section of Jammu–Baramulla line.
• The Rs. 458 crore railway bridge is being developed by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, a Government of India undertaking.
• The total length of the AnjiKhad Bridge is 473.25 metres, standing at a height of 331 metres above the Chenab river bed. 

Banking and Economy

ICRA Predicts India’s GDP to Contract 9.5% in FY21

• Credit Rating agency ICRA has sharply revised the GDP forecast for India and expects the Indian economy to contract by 9.5% (-9.5%) in 2020-21. Earlier it had projected the GDP at -5% for FY21.
• The increasing C-19 infections, leading to localised C-19s in some states and cities, affecting the economic activities is the main reason for this sharp revision.

CPJ International Press Freedom Award 2020 announced

• The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has announced the recipients of the International Press Freedom Awards 2020 include Shahidul Alam from Bangladesh, Mohammad Mosaed from Iran, Dapo Olorunyomi from Nigeria and Svetlana Prokopyeva from Russia.
• All four journalists have faced arrests or criminal prosecution in reprisal for their reporting. In addition to them, lawyer Amal Clooney will be honoured with the Gwen Ifill Press Freedom Award 2020.

2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar

• The Federation International de Football Association announced that the 2022 World Cup is to be held in Qatar.
• The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the first world cup to be held in Arab World and also the first in a muslim-majority country.
• Indian National Team ranks 108 in the latest FIFA rankings that were released in 2019.

Nelson Mandela International Day

• The United Nations observes 18 July every year as Nelson Mandela International Day. The day acknowledges Nelson Mandela’s contribution to the struggle for democracy internationally and the promotion of a culture of peace throughout the world. Nelson Mandela Day is an occasion for all to take action and inspire change.
• This day marks the contribution to peace through his active involvement in resolving conflicts, promoting human rights, international democracy and reconciliation and in addressing racial issues.
