सिंगापुर ने विश्‍व के सबसे बड़े तैरते सौर पैनल फार्मों में से एक का अनावरण किया

• सिंगापुर ने विश्‍व के सबसे बड़े तैरते सौर पैनल फार्मों में से एक का अनावरण किया है। यह परियोजना देश द्वारा जलवायु परिवर्तन से निपटने में मदद करने के लिए 2025 तक अपने सौर ऊर्जा उत्पादन को चौगुना करने के लक्ष्य को पूरा करने के प्रयासों का हिस्सा है। पश्चिमी सिंगापुर में एक जलाशय पर स्थित, 60 मेगावाट-पीक सौर फोटोवोल्टिक फार्म का निर्माण, सेम्बकॉर्प इंडस्ट्रीज की पूर्ण स्वामित्व वाली सहायक कंपनी द्वारा किया गया है। यह संयंत्र 45 फुटबॉल मैदानों के बराबर क्षेत्र में फैला है और द्वीप के पांच जल उपचार संयंत्रों को बिजली देने के लिए पर्याप्त बिजली का उत्पादन करता है।
• 45-हेक्टेयर साइट पर एक लाख 22 हजार सौर पैनलों से उत्पन्न बिजली सिंगापुर को विश्‍व के उन कुछ देशों में से एक बना देगी, जहां जल उपचार प्रणाली पूरी तरह से सतत ऊर्जा द्वारा संचालित है। सोलर फार्म सालाना लगभग 32 किलोटन कार्बन उत्सर्जन को कम करने में मदद कर सकता है, जो सड़कों से 7,000 कारों को हटाने के बराबर है।

नोएडा हवाई अड्डे और फिल्म सिटी के बीच संचालित होने वाली भारत की पहली पॉड टैक्सी

• इंडियन पोर्ट रेल एंड रोपवे कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड (आईपीआरसीएल) ने नोएडा एयरपोर्ट जेवर और फिल्म सिटी के बीच पॉड टैक्सी सेवा के लिए एक विस्तृत परियोजना रिपोर्ट या डीपीआर तैयार की है। दोनों गंतव्यों के बीच चालक रहित टैक्सी चलाने की योजना है। यमुना एक्सप्रेसवे औद्योगिक विकास प्राधिकरण (येदा) को सौंपी गई विस्तृत परियोजना रिपोर्ट (डीपीआर) के अनुसार, इस पर लगभग 862 करोड़ रुपये खर्च होंगे। यह 14 किमी की दूरी है। यह भारत की पहली पॉड टैक्सी सेवा होगी।
• पॉड टैक्सियों में प्रति कार चार से छह यात्री बैठ सकते हैं। यह महत्वपूर्ण परियोजना फिल्म सिटी और नोएडा अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे के बीच पड़ने वाले आवासीय और औद्योगिक क्षेत्रों को सुगम कनेक्टिविटी प्रदान करेगी। डीपीआर के अनुसार, कॉरिडोर 21, 28, 29, 30 और 32 जैसे विभिन्न क्षेत्रों से होकर गुजरेगा, जो येइदा क्षेत्र के अंतर्गत आते हैं।

तेलंगाना का प्रसिद्ध त्योहार 'बोनालू' शुरू

• 'बोनालू' एक पारंपरिक लोक उत्सव है जो प्रतिवर्ष तेलुगु महीने आषाढ़म (जून/जुलाई में पड़ता है), हैदराबाद और सिकंदराबाद के जुड़वां शहरों और तेलंगाना राज्य के कुछ अन्य हिस्सों में मनाया जाता है। 2014 में राज्य के गठन के बाद के चंद्रशेखर राव के नेतृत्व वाली सरकार द्वारा बोनालु उत्सव को 'राज्य उत्सव' घोषित किया गया था।
• बोनालु उत्सव में हैदराबाद और सिकंदराबाद के जुड़वां शहरों के 25 मंदिरों में देवी महाकाली को पारंपरिक 'बोनम' (भोजनम से व्युत्पन्न, जिसका अर्थ है भोजन) की पेशकश करते हैं।

मंडुआडीह रेलवे स्टेशन का नाम बदलकर बनारस रेलवे स्टेशन कर दिया गया

• पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे (NER) द्वारा मंडुआडीह रेलवे स्टेशन का नाम बदलकर आखिरकार बनारस कर दिया गया है। रेलवे बोर्ड द्वारा नए नाम के लिए अपनी मंजूरी दिए जाने के बाद एनईआर ने पुराने साइनबोर्ड को नए के साथ बदल दिया, जिस पर 'बनारस' लिखा गया है। नए साइनबोर्ड में बनारस हिंदी, संस्कृत, अंग्रेजी और उर्दू में लिखा गया है।
• स्टेशन का नाम बदलने की प्रक्रिया 2019 में पूर्व रेल मंत्री और जम्मू-कश्मीर के वर्तमान राज्यपाल मनोज सिंह के अनुरोध पर शुरू की गई थी। उसी वर्ष, उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार कर लिया और इसे गृह मंत्रालय को भेज दिया।

रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने AI- आधारित शिकायत विश्लेषण ऐप "CPGRAMS" लॉन्च किया

• रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने आर्टिफीसियल इंटेलिजेंस (AI) और मशीन लर्निंग टूल्स का उपयोग करके शिकायतें दर्ज करने के लिए CPGRAMS नामक एक मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन लॉन्च किया है। रक्षा मंत्री को बताया गया कि यह AI-पावर्ड एप्लिकेशन लोगों की शिकायतों को स्वचालित रूप से संभालेगा और उनका विश्लेषण करेगा एवं मानवीय हस्तक्षेप को कम करेगा, समय बचाएगा और उनके निपटान में अधिक पारदर्शिता लाएगा।
• यह पहली AI आधारित प्रणाली सरकार में शिकायत निवारण में सुधार के लिए विकसित की गई है।
• पहल के हिस्से के रूप में विकसित AI टूल में इसमें मौजूद सामग्री के आधार पर शिकायत को समझने की क्षमता है।

अदानी समूह ने जीवीके समूह से मुंबई हवाई अड्डे का अधिग्रहण किया

• गौतम अडानी के नेतृत्व में अदानी समूह ने जीवीके समूह से 'मुंबई अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे' का अधिग्रहण पूरा कर लिया है। इस अधिग्रहण के साथ, अदानी समूह भारत में एयरपोर्ट इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर कंपनियों के मामले में शीर्ष कंपनी बन गया है। मुंबई अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे का संचालन अदानी एयरपोर्ट होल्डिंग्स द्वारा किया जाएगा जो अदानी एंटरप्राइजेज की पूर्ण स्वामित्व वाली सहायक कंपनी है। अधिग्रहण के साथ, अदानी समूह के हवाई अड्डों का अब भारत भर के हवाई अड्डों पर कुल यात्रियों की संख्या का एक चौथाई हिस्सा है, और कुल एयर कार्गो का एक तिहाई हिस्सा है।

• 13 जुलाई, 2021 को अफगानिस्तान के कंधार प्रांत के स्पिन बोल्डक जिले में अफगान सैनिकों और तालिबान के बीच लड़ाई की रिपोर्टिंग करते समय हुए संघर्ष में मारे जाने के बाद पुलित्जर पुरस्कार विजेता भारतीय फोटो पत्रकार दानिश सिद्दीकी का निधन हो गया है।
• वह अंतरराष्ट्रीय समाचार एजेंसी रॉयटर्स में कार्यरत थे। उन्होंने 2018 में रॉयटर्स समाचार एजेंसी के साथ फोटोग्राफर के रूप में काम करने वाले छह अन्य लोगों के साथ प्रतिष्ठित पुलित्जर पुरस्कार प्राप्त किया था।

पाकिस्तान के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति एम हुसैन का निधन हो गया

• पाकिस्तान के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति ममनून हुसैन का निधन हो गया है। ममनून हुसैन, का जन्म 1940 में आगरा में हुआ था और वें 1947 में अपने माता-पिता के साथ पाकिस्तान चले गए थे, उन्होंने सितंबर 2013 और सितंबर 2018 के बीच पाकिस्तान के 12वें राष्ट्रपति के रूप में कार्य किया था।
• वह जून से अक्टूबर 1999 तक सिंध के गवर्नर थे, जब तत्कालीन पाकिस्तानी सेना प्रमुख जनरल परवेज मुशर्रफ ने प्रधान मंत्री नवाज शरीफ की सरकार गिरा दी थी।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय न्याय के लिए विश्व दिवस 2021: 17 जुलाई

• विश्व अंतर्राष्ट्रीय न्याय दिवस, (अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आपराधिक न्याय दिवस या अंतर्राष्ट्रीय न्याय दिवस के रूप में भी जाना जाता है), अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अपराध न्यायालय (ICC) के काम को समर्थन और मान्यता देने के लिए 17 जुलाई को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है।
• यह दिन 17 जुलाई 1998 को रोम संविधि को अपनाने की वर्षगांठ का प्रतीक है, जिस संधि ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आपराधिक न्यायालय बनाया था। यह तब हुआ जब 120 राज्यों ने रोम में एक क़ानून को अपनाया। इसे अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आपराधिक न्यायालय के रोम संविधि के रूप में जाना जाता था, क़ानून को अपनाने के लिए सहमत होने वाले सभी देशों ने ICC के अधिकार क्षेत्र को स्वीकार किया।

Singapore unveiled one of the world’s biggest floating solar panel farms

• Singapore has unveiled one of the world’s largest floating solar panel farms. The project is part of efforts by the country to meet a goal of quadrupling its solar energy production by 2025 to help tackle climate change. Located on a reservoir in western Singapore, the 60 megawatt-peak solar photovoltaic farm has been built by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries. Spanning an area equivalent to 45 football fields and producing enough electricity to power the island’s five water treatment plants.
• The electricity generated from the one lakh 22 thousand solar panels on the 45-hectare site should make Singapore one of the few countries in the world to have a water treatment system fully powered by sustainable energy. The solar farm could help to reduce carbon emissions by about 32 kilotonnes annually, comparable to taking 7,000 cars off the roads.

NATIONAL

India’s first pod taxi to operate between Noida Airport and Film City

• Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Ltd (IPRCL) has prepared a Detailed Project Report or DPR for the pod taxi service between Noida Airport at Jewar and Film City. There are plans to run a driverless taxi between the two destinations. This will cost about Rs 862 crore, according to the detailed project report (DPR) submitted to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida). This is a 14 km stretch. This will be India’s first pod taxi service.
• Pod taxis can accommodate four to six passengers per car. This important project will provide smooth connectivity to residential and industrial areas falling between film city and the Noida International Airport. As per the DPR, the corridor will pass through various sectors such as 21, 28, 29, 30 and 32, among others, falling under the Yeida region.

Telangana’s famous festival ‘Bonalu’ begins

• ‘Bonalu’ is a traditional folk festival celebrated every year in the Telugu month of Ashadham (falling in June/July), in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, and some other parts of Telangana state. The Bonalu festival was declared a ‘state festival’ by the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led government after the state’s formation back in 2014.
• The Bonalu festival involves scores of devotees offering the traditional ‘bonam’ (derived from Bhojanam, meaning meals) to the goddess Mahankali at 25 temples across the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Manduadih railway station renamed as Banaras railway station

• The Manduadih railway station has been finally renamed as Banaras by the Northeastern railways (NER). The NER replaced the old signboard with the new one which read ‘Banaras’ after the Railway Board gave its nod for the new name. The newly painted signboards were put up with Banaras written in Hindi, Sanskrit, English, and Urdu.
• The process to change the station’s name started in 2019 when the former railway minister and the present governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Singh, put forth the request. In the same year, the Uttar Pradesh government accepted the proposal and forwarded it to the ministry of home affairs.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched AI-based grievance analysis app “CPGRAMS”

• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has launched a mobile application, called CPGRAMS to lodge grievances using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning tools. The Raksha Mantri was briefed that this AI-powered application will automatically handle and analyse the complaints of the people and would reduce human intervention, save time and bring more transparency to their disposal.
• This is the first AI-based system developed to improve grievance redressal in the Government.
• The AI tool developed as part of the initiative has the capability to understand the content of the complaint based on the contents therein.

Adani Group takes over Mumbai airport management from the GVK group

• Adani Group led by Gautam Adani has completed the takeover of ‘Mumbai International Airport’ from the GVK group. With this takeover, Adani group has become the top company in terms of airport infrastructure companies in India. Mumbai International Airport will be operated by Adani Airport Holdings which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises. With the takeover, Adani group’s airports now account for a fourth of total footfalls at airports across India, and a third of total air cargo handled.
• Thus, the company now operate six airports. Three airports in Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Mangaluru are being operated by the Adani group already while the takeover of three airports in Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Jaipur is to be complete.

AIFF nominated Gokulam Kerala FC to represent India in the AFC Club Championship 2020-21

• The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has nominated Gokulam Kerala FC to represent India in the AFC Club Championship 2020-21. The winners of the Women League compete in the tournament but since it will not be held, the national federation nominated the champions of the fourth edition.
• Gokulam Kerala FC became the first team from Kerala to win a national title when they defeated Kryphsa FC in the 2019-20 Indian Women’s League (IWL) finals in Bengaluru.

Pulitzer Prize-winning Indian photojournalist D. Siddiqui passed away

• Pulitzer Prize-winning Indian photojournalist, Danish Siddiqui, has passed away, after he was killed in a clash while reporting a fight between Afghan troops and the Taliban in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province in Afghanistan on July 13, 2021.
• He was employed with the international news agency Reuters. He was a recipient of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize with six others working as a photographer with Reuters news agency in 2018.

Three time National Award-winning actress Surekha Sikri passed away

• Three-time national award-winning actress Surekha Sikri has passed away. The three-time National Award winner is best known for her performances in ‘Tamas’, ‘Mammo’, ‘Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro’, ‘Zubeidaa’, ‘Badhaai Ho’ and daily soap ‘Balika Vadhu’.
• She was last seen in Netflix’s anthology ‘Ghost Stories’ (2020), in the story directed by Zoya Akhtar.

Former president of Pakistan M. Hussain passed away

• Former president of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain passed away. Mamnoon Hussain, who was born in Agra in 1940 and migrated with his parents to Pakistan in 1947, served as the 12th President of Pakistan between September 2013 and September 2018.
• He was governor of Sindh from June to October 1999 when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government was overthrown by the then Pakistan Army chief, Gen Pervez Musharraf.

World Day for International Justice 2021: 17th July

• The World Day for International Justice, (also known as Day of International Criminal Justice or International Justice Day), is celebrated globally on July 17 to support and recognize the work of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
• The day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute on July 17, 1998, the treaty that created the International Criminal Court. It came about when 120 states adopted a statute in Rome. It was known as the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, All the countries that agreed to adopt the statute were accepting the jurisdiction of the ICC.
