अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बिडेन ने सितंबर तक अफगानिस्तान से पूर्ण सैनिक वापसी की घोषणा की

• अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जो बिडेन ने घोषणा की है कि इस वर्ष 11 सितंबर तक सभी अमेरिकी सैनिकों को अफगानिस्तान से हटा लिया जाएगा, जिससे देश का सबसे लंबा युद्ध समाप्त हो जाएगा। अमेरिकी सेना और साथ ही हमारे नाटो (उत्तरी अटलांटिक संधि संगठन) मित्र राष्ट्रों और परिचालन भागीदारों द्वारा तैनात बल, 11 सितंबर (2001) के उस जघन्य हमले की 20 वीं वर्षगांठ से पहले अफगानिस्तान से बाहर हो जाएंगे।
• बिडेन और उनकी टीम न केवल अफगानिस्तान में बल्कि कहीं भी जहां आतंकी खतरे उत्पन्न हो सकते हैं - अफ्रीका, यूरोप, मध्य पूर्व और अन्य जगहों पर महत्वपूर्ण आतंकवादी खतरों की निगरानी और बाधित करने के लिए राष्ट्रीय रणनीति को परिष्कृत कर रही है।
• घोषणा करने से पहले, बिडेन ने पूर्व अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपतियों बराक ओबामा और जॉर्ज बुश के साथ बात की थी।
• युद्धग्रस्त अफगानिस्तान में स्थायी शांति लाने के लिए अमेरिका और तालिबान ने 29 फरवरी, 2020 को दोहा में एक ऐतिहासिक सौदे पर हस्ताक्षर किए और अमेरिकी सैनिकों को अमेरिका के सबसे लंबे युद्ध से स्वदेश लौटने की अनुमति दी।

स्वास्थ्य मंत्री डॉ हर्षवर्धन द्वारा लॉन्च किया गया 'आधार क्रांति' मिशन

• केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री, डॉ. हर्षवर्धन ने पोषण के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाने के लिए समर्पित एक व्यापक मुहिम, आहार क्रांति शुरू की है। यह भारत और दुनिया से जुड़ी एक ऐसी चुनौती, बहुतायत में भूख और बीमारियों की अजीबोगरीब समस्या का समाधान करने के उद्देश्य से किया गया है। अध्ययनों से पता चलता है कि भारत जितनी कैलोरी का उपभोग करता है उससे दो गुना अधिक उत्पादन करता है.
• हालांकि, देश में कई अभी भी कुपोषित हैं। इस अजीब घटना का मूल कारण पोषण संबंधी जागरूकता की कमी है। इसी बात को ध्यान में रखते हुए, आहार क्रांति को उत्तम अहार- उत्तम विचर या अच्छा आहार-अच्छी अनुभूति के आदर्श के साथ लॉन्च किया गया है।
• यह अभियान भारत के पारंपरिक पोषक-आहार, स्थानीय फलों एवं सब्जियों की उपचारात्मक शक्तियों तथा संतुलित आहार के गुणों से लोगों को रूबरू कराकर आहार की उपलब्धता के बावजूद भूख और कुपोषण की विरोधाभासी स्थिति के समाधान की पहल प्रस्तुत करता है। विज्ञान भारती, ग्लोबल इंडियन साइंटिस्ट्स ऐंड टेक्नोक्रेट्स फोरम, विज्ञान प्रसार, और प्रवासी भारतीय अकादमिक और वैज्ञानिक संपर्क ने मिलकर इस मिशन की शुरुआत की है।

पूर्व चुनाव आयुक्त जी.वी.जी. कृष्णमूर्ति का निधन

• पूर्व चुनाव आयुक्त, जीवीजी कृष्णमूर्ति का आयु संबंधी बीमारियों के कारण निधन हो गया।
• एक भारतीय कानूनी सेवा अधिकारी, कृष्णमूर्ति अक्टूबर 1993 में सितंबर 1996 तक चुनाव आयुक्त बने थे।

 पूर्व सीबीआई प्रमुख रंजीत सिन्हा का निधन

• केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो (CBI) के पूर्व निदेशक रंजीत सिन्हा का निधन हो गया है। वह बिहार कैडर के 1974 बैच के आईपीएस अधिकारी थे, जिन्होंने 3 दिसंबर 2012 से 2 दिसंबर 2014 तक सीबीआई निदेशक के रूप में कार्य किया।
• CBI निदेशक के रूप में नियुक्त होने से पहले, सिन्हा ने भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस बल (ITBP) के महानिदेशक, रेलवे सुरक्षा बल तथा पटना और दिल्ली में CBI के कई अन्य वरिष्ठ पदों पर काम किया था।

 प्रसिद्ध रेडियोलॉजिस्ट डॉ काकरला सुब्बा राव का निधन

• प्रसिद्ध रेडियोलॉजिस्ट, डॉ काकरला सुब्बा राव, जिन्होंने निज़ाम के इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ़ मेडिकल साइंसेज (NIMS), हैदराबाद के पहले निदेशक के रूप में कार्य किया, का निधन हो गया है।
• राव को चिकित्सा के क्षेत्र में उनके योगदान के लिए भारत सरकार द्वारा 2000 में पद्म श्री से सम्मानित किया गया था। वह संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में तेलुगु भाषी लोगों के लिए एक छाता संगठन, तेलुगु एसोसिएशन ऑफ नॉर्थ अमेरिका (TANA) के संस्थापक अध्यक्ष थे।

• विश्व हीमोफिलिया दिवस विश्व स्तर पर प्रति वर्ष 17 अप्रैल को मनाया जाता है। यह दिन हीमोफिलिया और अन्य रक्तस्राव विकारों के लिए जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए मनाया जाता है। यह दिन वर्ल्ड फेडरेशन ऑफ हेमोफिलिया के संस्थापक फ्रैंक श्नाबेल (Frank Schnabel) के जन्मदिन के सम्मान में चुना गया। यह वर्ष विश्व हीमोफिलिया दिवस का 30 वाँ संस्करण है।
• 2021 विश्व हीमोफिलिया दिवस के लिए थीम "परिवर्तन के लिए अनुकूलन: एक नई दुनिया में निरंतर देखभाल (Adapting to Change: Sustaining care in a new world)" है। यह दिन 1989 से आयोजित किया जा रहा है, जो वर्ल्ड फेडरेशन ऑफ हीमोफिलिया के संस्थापक फ्रैंक श्नेबेल का जन्मदिन है।
• यह एक दुर्लभ विकार है जिसमें आपके रक्त में सामान्य रूप से थक्का नहीं जमता क्योंकि इसमें पर्याप्त रक्त-थक्के प्रोटीन / कारकों का अभाव होता है। यदि आपको हीमोफिलिया है, तो चोट लगने के बाद सामान्य रूप से रक्त थक्का जमने की तुलना में आपका खून लंबे समय तक बह सकता है।

• मॉस्को इंटरनेशनल फिल्म फेस्टिवल, 2021 में मराठी फिल्म "पगल्या (Puglya)" ने बेस्ट फॉरेन लैंग्वेज फीचर का पुरस्कार जीता है। फिल्म पगल्या का निर्देशन और निर्माण विनोद सैम पीटर ने अब्राहम फिल्म्स के बैनर के तहत किया है।
• अब तक, इस फिल्म ने विभिन्न अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म समारोहों में 45 से अधिक पुरस्कार और मान्यता प्राप्त की है। यह फिल्म अभी भारत में रिलीज होनी बाकी है। यह फिल्म एक पग और दो लड़कों के इर्द-गिर्द घूमती है, जिनकी उम्र 10 वर्ष के आसपास है।

• द इकोनॉमिस्ट इंटेलिजेंस यूनिट (EIU), ने फेसबुक के साथ साझेदारी में, समावेशी इंटरनेट सूचकांक 2021 जारी किया है। भारत को वैश्विक स्तर पर 49 वें स्थान पर रखा गया है। यह थाईलैंड के साथ अपनी रैंक साझा करता है। यह सूचकांक क्षेत्र द्वारा इंटरनेट उपलब्ध और सस्ती होने की सीमा को मापता है और अतिरिक्त अंतर्दृष्टि को उजागर करता है कि दुनिया भर के लोग कैसे वेब का उपयोग कर रहे हैं।

पंजाब नेशनल बैंक ने डिजिटल पहल PNB@Ease को लॉन्च किया

• पंजाब नेशनल बैंक (PNB) ने एक डिजिटल पहल "PNB@Ease" शुरू की है जिसके तहत बैंक शाखा द्वारा किए गए प्रत्येक लेनदेन को स्वयं ग्राहकों द्वारा शुरू और अधिकृत किया जाएगा। यह सुविधा ग्राहकों को एक पटल के तहत सभी बैंकिंग सेवाओं का लाभ उठाने में सक्षम करेगी।
• अपने 127 वें स्थापना दिवस पर, PNB ने अन्य डिजिटल पहलों की घोषणा की, जैसे वीडियो-KYC के माध्यम से ऑनलाइन बचत खाते खोलने, इंस्टा पूर्व-स्वीकृत ऋण, इंस्टा डीमैट खाता तथा इंटरनेट और मोबाइल बैंकिंग सेवाओं के माध्यम से बीमा सुविधा। PNB का 127 वां स्थापना दिवस 12 अप्रैल 2021 को मनाया गया।
• यह सुविधा ग्राहकों को एक पटल के नीचे सभी बैंकिंग सेवाओं का लाभ उठाने में सक्षम करेगी, उन्होंने कहा, PNB@Ease आउटलेट्स बैंक की वितरण क्षमता को बढ़ावा देंगे और ग्राहक अधिग्रहण की लागत कम करेंगे।
• यह सेवा बचत खाता खोलने से लेकर विभिन्न ऋणों और अधिक का लाभ, बिना बैंक शाखा में गए या बैंक कर्मचारियों की सहायता के, उठाने तक हो सकती है।

US President Biden announced complete troop withdrawal from Afghanistan by September

• US President Joe Biden has announced that all American troops would be withdrawn from Afghanistan by September 11 this year, thus bringing to end the country’s longest war. US troops, as well as forces deployed by our NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) Allies and operational partners, will be out of Afghanistan before the 20th anniversary of that heinous attack on September 11 (2001).
• Biden and his team are refining national strategy to monitor and disrupt significant terrorist threats not only in Afghanistan, but anywhere they may arise — Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and elsewhere.
• Before making the announcement, Biden had spoken with former US presidents Barack Obama and George Bush.
• The US and the Taliban signed a landmark deal in Doha on February 29, 2020, to bring lasting peace in war-torn Afghanistan and allow US troops to return home from America’s longest war.

‘Aahaar Kranti’ mission launched by Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan

• Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan has launched Aahaar Kranti, a mission dedicated to spreading awareness about nutrition. It is designed to address the peculiar problem of hunger and diseases in abundance, being faced by India and the world. Studies show that India produces as much as two times the amount of calories it consumes.
• However, many in the country are still malnourished. The root cause of this strange phenomenon is a lack of nutritional awareness. Keeping this in mind, Aahaar Kranti has been launched with the motto of Uttam Aahaar- Uttam Vichaar or Good Diet-Good Cognition.
• The movement proposes to address the problem by working to rouse the people to the values and richness of India’s traditional diet, to the healing powers of local fruits and vegetables and to the miracles of a balanced diet. Vijnana Bharati, Global Indian Scientists and Technocrats Forum, Vigyan Prasar, and Pravasi Bharatiya Academic and Scientific Sampark have come together to launch this mission.

Former election commissioner G.V.G. Krishnamurthy passed away

• Former election commissioner, GVG Krishnamurty passed away due to age-related ailments.
• An Indian Legal Service officer, Krishnamurty became the election commissioner in October 1993 to September 1996.

 Former CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha passed away

• Former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Ranjit Sinha has passed away. He was a 1974-batch IPS officer of the Bihar cadre, who served as CBI Director from 3 December 2012 to 2 December 2014.
• Prior to being appointed as CBI Director, Sinha had headed Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force, the Railway Protection Force and several other senior positions in the CBI in Patna and Delhi.

 Renowned Radiologist Dr. Kakarla Subba Rao Passed Away

• Renowned radiologist, Dr Kakarla Subba Rao, who served as the first director of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, has passed away.
• Rao was conferred Padma Shri in 2000, by the Government of India for his contributions to the field of medicine. He was the founder president of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA), an umbrella organisation for Telugu speaking people in the United States.

World Hemophilia Day observed globally: 17 April

• World Hemophilia Day observed globally on 17 April every year. This day is observed to raise awareness for hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. The date was chosen in honour of the World Federation of Hemophilia founder Frank Schnabel birthday. This year is the 30th edition of World Haemophilia Day.
• The theme for 2021 World Hemophilia Day is “Adapting to Change: Sustaining care in a new world”. The day is being held since 1989, which marks the birthday of Frank Schnabel, founder of the World Federation of Hemophilia.
• It is a rare disorder in which your blood doesn’t clot normally because it lacks sufficient blood-clotting proteins /factors. If you have hemophilia, you may bleed for a longer time after an injury than you would if your blood clotted normally.

Marathi film “Puglya” wins Best Foreign Feature at Moscow International Film Festival 2021

• The Marathi film “Puglya” has won the Best Foreign Language Feature award at Moscow International Film Festival, 2021. The film Puglya has been directed and produced by Vinod Sam Peter under the banner Abraham Films.
• So far, this film has won over 45 awards and recognitions at various international film festivals. The film is yet to be released in India. The film revolves around a pug and two boys, who are around 10 years old.

 Wisden Almanack’s 2021 edition announced

• To perpetuate the 50th anniversary of the first One-Day International, five ODI cricketers of the decade have been listed in Wisden Almanack’s 2021 edition. One cricketer has been selected from each decade between 1971 and 2021, with the Indian captain been granted the award for the 2010s.
• India captain Virat Kohli Wisden Almanack’s ODI player of the 2010s.
• Sachin Tendulkar is the ODI Cricketer of the 1990s.
• Kapil Dev was named as the ODI Cricketer for the 1980s.
• England all-rounder Ben Stokes is ‘Leading Cricketer of the Year’.
• Australia’s Beth Mooney is ‘Leading Women’s Cricketer in the World’.
• West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard was adjudged the ‘Leading T20 Cricketer in the World’.

• The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), in partnership with Facebook, has released the Inclusive Internet Index 2021. India has been ranked at 49th spot globally. It shares its rank with Thailand. This index measures the extent to which the internet is available and affordable by region, and highlights additional insight into how people around the world are using the web.

Punjab National Bank launched digital initiative PNB@Ease

• Punjab National Bank (PNB) has launched a digital initiative “PNB@Ease” under which every transaction undertaken by a bank branch will be initiated and authorised by customers themselves. This facility will enable the customers to avail all banking services under one roof.
• On its 127th foundation day, PNB announced other digital initiatives such as the instant opening of online saving accounts via video-KYC, insta pre-approved loan, insta Demat account and insurance facility through internet and mobile banking services. PNB’s 127th Foundation Day celebrated on Apr 12, 2021.
• This facility will enable the customers to avail all banking services under one roof, he said, adding, PNB@Ease outlets would boost the bank’s distribution capability and lower the cost of customer acquisition.
• The service can range from savings accounts opening to availing various loans and more, without visiting a branch or help from the bank employees.
