भारत, सिंगापुर और थाईलैंड ने SITMEX-21 अभ्यास शुरू किया

• SITMEX-21 नामक त्रिपक्षीय समुद्री अभ्यास का तीसरा संस्करण अंडमान सागर में 15 से 16 नवंबर 21 तक आयोजित किया जा रहा है। इस आयोजन में भारत, सिंगापुर और थाईलैंड की नौसेनाएं भाग लेंगी। भारतीय नौसेना पोत (आईएनएस) करमुक भारत से तीसरे संस्करण में भाग ले रहा है। यह स्वदेश निर्मित मिसाइल कार्वेट है।
• इस कार्यक्रम की मेजबानी अंडमान सागर में रॉयल थाई नेवी (RTN) द्वारा की जा रही है, जिसका उद्देश्य क्षेत्र में समग्र समुद्री सुरक्षा को बढ़ाने की दिशा में भाग लेने वाली नौसेनाओं के बीच सहयोग को बढ़ाना है।
• भारतीय नौसेना (आईएन), आरएसएन और आरटीएन के बीच आपसी अंतर-संचालन को बढ़ाने और सर्वोत्तम प्रथाओं को आत्मसात करने के उद्देश्य से 2019 से सालाना SITMEX का आयोजन किया जा रहा है। SITMEX के पहले संस्करण की मेजबानी IN ने सितंबर 2019 में पोर्ट ब्लेयर के बाहर की थी। RSN ने नवंबर 2020 में अभ्यास के दूसरे संस्करण की मेजबानी की। अभ्यास के 2021 संस्करण की मेजबानी अंडमान सागर में आरटीएन द्वारा की जा रही है।

पीएम मोदी ने उत्तर प्रदेश में पूर्वांचल एक्सप्रेस-वे का उद्घाटन किया

• प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने उत्तर प्रदेश के सुल्तानपुर जिले में 341 किलोमीटर लंबी पूर्वांचल एक्सप्रेस का उद्घाटन किया। एक्सप्रेसवे राज्य की राजधानी लखनऊ को गाजीपुर से जोड़ता है और इसका निर्माण 22,500 करोड़ रुपये की अनुमानित लागत से किया गया है। पीएम मोदी सैन्य परिवहन विमान में पूर्वांचल एक्सप्रेसवे हवाई पट्टी पर उतरे। एक्सप्रेसवे की प्रमुख विशेषता आपात स्थिति में भारतीय वायु सेना के लड़ाकू विमानों की लैंडिंग और टेक-ऑफ करने के लिए 3.2 किमी लंबी हवाई पट्टी है।
• पूर्वांचल एक्सप्रेसवे लखनऊ जिले के गांव चौदसराय से शुरू होता है और उत्तर प्रदेश-बिहार सीमा से 18 किलोमीटर पूर्व में राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग संख्या 31 पर हैदरिया गांव में समाप्त होता है।
• एक्सप्रेसवे 6-लेन चौड़ा है जिसे भविष्य में 8-लेन तक बढ़ाया जा सकता है।
• यह एक्सप्रेसवे उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्वी हिस्से विशेषकर लखनऊ, बाराबंकी, अमेठी, अयोध्या, सुल्तानपुर, अंबेडकर नगर, आजमगढ़, मऊ और गाजीपुर जिलों के आर्थिक विकास को बढ़ावा देने के लिए तैयार है।

 केंद्रीय मंत्री किरेन रिजिजू ने सिटीजन टेली-लॉ मोबाइल ऐप लॉन्च किया

• केंद्रीय कानून और न्याय मंत्री, किरेन रिजिजू ने सिटीजन टेली-लॉ मोबाइल ऐप लॉन्च किया है। यह ऐप लाभार्थियों को सीधे कानूनी सलाह और परामर्श देने वाले पैनल वकीलों से जोड़ेगा। ऐप को 8 से 14 नवंबर तक न्याय विभाग द्वारा मनाए जाने वाले आजादी का अमृत महोत्सव समारोह के हिस्से के रूप में लॉन्च किया गया था। ऐप लाभार्थियों को सीधे कानूनी सलाह और परामर्श देने वाले पैनल वकीलों से जोड़ेगा।
• टेली-लॉ सेवाओं की पेशकश करने वाले अपने निकटतम सामान्य सेवा केंद्रों (CSCs) पर जाने का आग्रह करके टेलीकांफ्रेंसिंग और वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग सुविधाओं के माध्यम से कानूनी सलाह और परामर्श लेने की आवश्यकता वाले लोगों को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए पूरे देश में एक विशेष "लॉगिन" सप्ताह आयोजित किया जा रहा है।
• इन सामान्य सेवा केंद्रों को इस उद्देश्य के लिए 'कनूनी सलाह सहायक केंद्र' के रूप में ब्रांडेड किया गया है।
• ये "टेली-लॉ ऑन व्हील्स" वैन प्रतिदिन 30-40 किमी की दूरी तय करती हैं, टेली-लॉ पर सूचना पत्रक वितरित करती हैं, और टेली-लॉ सेवाओं के बारे में रेडियो जिंगल पर फिल्मों का प्रसारण करती हैं।

• भारत ने 15 नवंबर, 2021 को अंटार्कटिका के लिए 41वें वैज्ञानिक अभियान का सफलतापूर्वक शुभारंभ किया। 23 वैज्ञानिकों और सहयोगी कर्मचारियों के दल का पहला जत्था भारतीय अंटार्कटिक स्टेशन मैत्री पहुंच गया है। जनवरी 2022 के मध्य तक चार और बैच अंटार्कटिका में उतरेंगे। भारतीय अंटार्कटिक कार्यक्रम 1981 में शुरू हुआ और इसने 40 वैज्ञानिक अभियान पूरे कर लिए हैं।
• 41वें अभियान में 48 सदस्यों की टीम का नेतृत्व डॉ शैलेंद्र सैनी, वैज्ञानिक राष्ट्रीय ध्रुवीय और महासागर अनुसंधान केंद्र (वॉयेज लीडर), श्री हुइड्रोम नागेश्वर सिंह, मेट्रोलॉजिस्ट, इंडिया मेट्रोलॉजिकल डिपार्टमेंट (लीडर, मैत्री स्टेशन) और श्री अनूप कालयिल सोमन, वैज्ञानिक भारतीय भू-चुंबकत्व संस्थान (नेता, भारती स्टेशन) कर रहे हैं। वर्तमान में, अंटार्कटिका में तीन स्थायी अनुसंधान बेस स्टेशन हैं, जिनका नाम दक्षिण गंगोत्री (1983), मैत्री (1988) और भारती (2012) है।

इंडियन ऑयल और एनटीपीसी ने हरित ऊर्जा पर सहयोग करने के लिए समझौता किया

• नेशनल थर्मल पावर कॉरपोरेशन लिमिटेड (NTPC) ने अक्षय ऊर्जा के क्षेत्र में सहयोग करने और कम कार्बन/आरई आरटीसी (चौबीसों घंटे) कैप्टिव पावर की आपूर्ति के अवसरों का पता लगाने के लिए इंडियन ऑयल कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड (IOCL) के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए। अक्षय ऊर्जा लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करने और ग्रीनहाउस गैस उत्सर्जन को कम करने के लिए देश की प्रतिबद्धता का समर्थन करने के लिए, भारत की दो प्रमुख राष्ट्रीय ऊर्जा कंपनियों द्वारा यह अपनी तरह की पहली अनूठी पहल है। यह इंडियन ऑयल की मथुरा रिफाइनरी में देश का पहला ग्रीन हाइड्रोजन प्लांट बनाने की योजना की घोषणा करने की पृष्ठभूमि में आता है।

इतिहासकार और पद्म विभूषण से सम्मानित बाबासाहेब पुरंदरे का 99 वर्ष की उम्र में निधन

• प्रख्यात इतिहासकार, वक्ता और महाराष्ट्र के प्रसिद्ध लेखक बलवंत मोरेश्वर पुरंदरे का निधन हो गया है। वह 99 थे। लेखक बाबासाहेब पुरंदरे के नाम से लोकप्रिय थे। पुरंदरे ने मराठा योद्धा राजा छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज के बारे में विस्तार से लिखा। उन्होंने उपनाम 'शिव शाहीर अर्जित किया था जिसका शाब्दिक अर्थ शिवाजी का बार्ड है। उन्हें 25 जनवरी 2019 को भारत के दूसरे सर्वोच्च नागरिक पुरस्कार पद्म विभूषण से सम्मानित किया गया।

राष्ट्रीय प्रेस दिवस 2021:16 नवंबर

• राष्ट्रीय प्रेस दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 16 नवंबर को भारत में स्वतंत्र और जिम्मेदार प्रेस का जश्न मनाने के लिए मनाया जाता है। इस दिन भारतीय प्रेस परिषद ने यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए एक नैतिक प्रहरी के रूप में कार्य करना शुरू किया कि प्रेस उच्च मानकों को बनाए रखे और किसी भी प्रभाव या खतरों से विवश न हो। यह उस दिन को भी याद करता है जब भारतीय प्रेस परिषद ने काम करना शुरू किया था।
• 1956 में, भारत में प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता की रक्षा के लिए एक प्रेस परिषद बनाने के लिए पहले प्रेस आयोग की योजना बनाई गई थी। 4 जुलाई 1966 को भारत में प्रेस परिषद की स्थापना हुई। यह 16 नवंबर 1966 से प्रभावी हुआ। इसलिए प्रतिवर्ष 16 नवंबर को राष्ट्रीय प्रेस दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है।

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र प्रतिवर्ष 16 नवंबर को "अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सहिष्णुता दिवस" मनाता है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र संस्कृतियों और लोगों के बीच आपसी समझ को बढ़ावा देकर सहिष्णुता को मजबूत करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।

अपशिष्ट परियोजना के लिए भारतीय भाइयों ने जीता बाल शांति पुरस्कार

• दिल्ली के दो किशोर भाइयों विहान (17) और नव अग्रवाल (14) ने घरेलू कचरे को रिसाइकिल करके अपने गृह शहर में प्रदूषण से निपटने के लिए 17वां वार्षिक किड्सराइट्स इंटरनेशनल चिल्ड्रन पीस प्राइज जीता है। दोनों को भारतीय नोबेल शांति पुरस्कार विजेता कैलाश सत्यार्थी द्वारा प्रतिष्ठित पुरस्कार मिला। विहान और नव ने हजारों घरों, स्कूलों और कार्यालयों से कचरे को अलग करने और कचरा उठाने के आयोजन के लिए "वन स्टेप ग्रीनर" पहल विकसित की है।
• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाल शांति पुरस्कार एम्स्टर्डम, नीदरलैंड में स्थित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाल अधिकार संगठन किड्सराइट्स द्वारा प्रतिवर्ष दिया जाता है।
• यह उस बच्चे को दिया जाता है जिसने बच्चों के अधिकारों की वकालत करने और अनाथ, बाल मजदूरों और एचआईवी/एड्स वाले बच्चों जैसे कमजोर बच्चों की स्थिति में सुधार करने में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया है।

INTERNATIONAL

India, Singapore and Thailand begins Exercise SITMEX–21

• The 3rd edition of the Trilateral Maritime Exercise named SITMEX–21 is being held from 15 to 16 Nov 21 in the Andaman Sea. The Navies of the India, Singapore and Thailand will participate in the event. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Karmuk is participating in the 3rd edition from India. It is an indigenously built Missile Corvette.
• The event is being hosted by Royal Thai Navy (RTN) in the Andaman Sea with an aim to enhance the cooperation between the participating navies towards augmenting the overall maritime security in the region.
• SITMEX is being conducted annually since 2019 with an aim to enhance mutual inter-operability and imbibing best practices between the Indian Navy (IN), RSN and RTN. The maiden edition of SITMEX was hosted by IN off Port Blair in September 2019. RSN hosted the second edition of the exercise in November 2020. The 2021 edition of the exercise is being hosted by RTN in the Andaman Sea.

PM Modi inaugurated Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the 341-km long Purvanchal Express in Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. The expressway links state capital Lucknow with Ghazipur and has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 22,500 crore. PM Modi landed on the Purvanchal Expressway airstrip in a military transport aircraft. The key feature of the Expressway is the 3.2 km long airstrip to enable landing and take-off of Indian Air Force fighter planes in case of emergency.
• The Purvanchal Expressway starts from village Chaudsarai in the Lucknow district and ends at Haidaria village on National Highway number 31, 18 kilometres east of the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border.
• The expressway is 6-lane wide which can be expanded to 8-lane in the future.
• This expressway is set to give a boost to the economic development of the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh especially the districts of Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur.

 Union Minister Kiren Rijiju launched Citizen’s Tele-Law mobile app

• Union Minister of Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju has launched the Citizen’s Tele-Law Mobile App. This app would connect the beneficiaries directly with panel lawyers offering legal advice and consultation. The app was launched as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, celebrated by the Department of Justice from 8 to 14 November. • A special “Login” week is being organised throughout the country for encouraging those in need to seek legal advice and consultation through teleconferencing and video conferencing facilities by urging them to visit their nearest Common Service Centres (CSCs) offering Tele-Law services.
• These Common Service Centres have been branded as ‘Kanooni Salah Sahahyak Kendra’ for this purpose.

India Launches Another Scientific Expedition To Antarctica, First Batch Of Scientists Reaches Indian Antarctic Station

• India successfully launched the 41st Scientific Expedition to Antarctica on November 15, 2021. The first batch of its contingents comprising of 23 scientists and support staff has reached the Indian Antarctic station Maitri. Four more batches will be landing in Antarctica by mid-January 2022. The Indian Antarctic program began in 1981 and has completed 40 scientific expeditions.
• The team of 48 members at the 41st expedition is being led by Dr Shailendra Saini, Scientist National Centre for Polar & Ocean Research (Voyage Leader), Shri. Huidrom Nageshwar Singh, Metrologist, India Metrological Department (Leader, Maitri Station) and Shri. AnoopKalayilSoman, scientist Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (Leader, Bharati Station). Currently, there are three permanent research base stations in Antarctica, named DakshinGangotri (1983), Maitri (1988) and Bharati (2012).

Lewis Hamilton ends 'hardest weekend' with stunning win at Brazilian Grand Prix

• Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes-Great Britain), has won the 2021 F1 Sao Paulo Grand Prix (earlier known as Brazilian Grand Prix). Max Verstappen (Red Bull – Netherlands) came second while Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes-Finland) came third in the Brazilian Grand Prix 2021. Max Verstappen is leading the World Drivers’ Standings with 312.5 points, 19 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton (318.5).

Indian Oil and NTPC ink deal to collaborate on green energy

• National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) signed an MoU with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to collaborate in the field of Renewable Energy and mutually explore opportunities for the supply of low carbon/RE RTC (round the clock) captive power. This is a first-of-its-kind novel initiative by two leading national energy majors of India, to support the country’s commitment to achieving renewable energy targets and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This comes in the backdrop of Indian Oil announcing its plan to build the country’s first green hydrogen plant at its Mathura refinery.

Babasaheb Purandare, historian and Padma Vibhushan awardee, passes away at 99

• The eminent historian, orator and noted author from Maharashtra, Balwant Moreshwar Purandare has passed away. He was 99. The author was popularly known as Babasaheb Purandare. Purandare wrote extensively about Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He had earned the moniker ‘Shiv Shahir’ which literally means Shivaji’s bard. He was felicitated with India’s second-highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan, on 25 January 2019.

National Press Day 2021:16th November

• National Press Day is observed on 16th November every year to celebrate free and responsible press in India. On this day the Press Council of India started functioning as a moral watchdog to ensure that the press maintains high standards and is not constrained by any influence or threats. It also commemorates the day when the Press Council of India started functioning.
• In 1956, the First Press Commission was planned to form a Press Council to protect freedom of the press in India. On 4 July 1966, the Press Council was established in India. It came into effect from 16 November 1966. Therefore, 16 November is celebrated as National Press Day every year.

 International Day for Tolerance 2021: 16th November

• The United Nations observes “International Day for Tolerance” on 16th November every year. The United Nations is committed to strengthening tolerance by fostering mutual understanding among cultures and peoples.
• In 1994, UNESCO marked the 125th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth paving the way for the proclamation of 16 November as the International Day for Tolerance by the UN. This day pays tribute to the values of the Mahatma of peace, non-violence and equality. The UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence rewards significant activities in the scientific, artistic, cultural or communication fields aimed at the promotion of a spirit of tolerance and non-violence. The prize is awarded every two years on the International Day for Tolerance, 16 November.

Indian brothers win Children's Peace Prize for waste project

• Two Delhi-based teenage brothers Vihaan (17) and Nav Agarwal (14) have won the 17th annual KidsRights International Children’s Peace Prize for tackling pollution in their home city by recycling household waste. The duo received the prestigious award by Indian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi. Vihaan and Nav have developed an “One Step Greener” initiative for segregating rubbish and organising waste pickups for trash from thousands of homes, schools and offices.
• The International Children’s Peace Prize is given annually by the International children’s rights organization KidsRights based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
• It is given to a child who has made a significant contribution to advocating children’s rights and improving the situation of vulnerable children such as orphans, child labourers and children with HIV/AIDS.
