 साइप्रस ने नए 'डेल्टाक्रॉन' C-19 संस्करण का पता लगाया 

• साइप्रस ने "डेल्टाक्रॉन" के रूप में डब किए गए एक नए संस्करण का पता लगाया है, जिसकी डेल्टा संस्करण के समान आनुवंशिक पृष्ठभूमि है, जो ओमाइक्रोन से 10 उत्परिवर्तन के साथ मिलकर है। साइप्रस में इस संस्करण ने पहले ही 25 लोगों को प्रभावित किया है। साइप्रस विश्वविद्यालय में जैव प्रौद्योगिकी और आणविक वायरोलॉजी की प्रयोगशाला के प्रमुख डॉ लियोनडिओस कोस्त्रिकिस के अनुसार, साइप्रस में लिए गए 25 नमूनों में से 11 को वायरस के कारण अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था, जबकि 14 सामान्य आबादी के थे। 

• माना जा रहा है कि B.1.640.2 नाम के वंश के नए संस्करण ने देश में 12 लोगों को संक्रमित किया है, फ्रांसीसी सरकार द्वारा समर्थित अभी तक सहकर्मी-समीक्षित अध्ययन के अनुसार। अध्ययनों से पता चला है कि डेल्टा और ओमाइक्रोन के सह-अस्तित्व से उनके व्यापारिक जीन के परिणामस्वरूप एक नए संस्करण की संभावना बढ़ जाती है। 

राष्ट्रीय 

पिछले 2 वर्षों में भारत का वन, वृक्ष आवरण 2,261 वर्ग किलोमीटर बढ़ा: पर्यावरण मंत्री ने रिपोर्ट जारी की 

• केंद्रीय पर्यावरण मंत्री, भूपेंद्र यादव ने द्विवार्षिक 'इंडिया स्टेट ऑफ फॉरेस्ट रिपोर्ट (ISFR)' 2021 के 17वें संस्करण का शुभारंभ किया। ISFR भारतीय वन सर्वेक्षण (एफएसआई) द्वारा 1987 से हर दो वर्ष में देश के वन संसाधनों का आकलन करने के लिए जारी किया जाता है। 2019 के आकलन की तुलना में ISFR 2021 में भारत के वन और वृक्षों के आवरण में 2,261 वर्ग किलोमीटर की वृद्धि हुई। इसमें वन क्षेत्र में 1,540 वर्ग किलोमीटर की वृद्धि और वृक्षों के आवरण में 721 वर्ग किलोमीटर की वृद्धि शामिल है। 

• भारत में वन और वृक्षों का आवरण अब 8,09,537 वर्ग किमी है। कुल वनावरण 7,13,789 वर्ग किमी, (भौगोलिक क्षेत्र का 21.71 प्रतिशत) और वृक्षों का आवरण 95,748 वर्ग किमी (भौगोलिक क्षेत्र का 2.91 प्रतिशत) है। 

• देश में कुल वन और वृक्ष आवरण अब 80.9 मिलियन हेक्टेयर या देश के भौगोलिक क्षेत्र के 24.62% में फैला हुआ है। 

• वन क्षेत्र में वृद्धि के मामले में शीर्ष पांच राज्य आंध्र प्रदेश (647 वर्ग किमी), तेलंगाना (632 वर्ग किमी), ओडिशा (537 वर्ग किमी), कर्नाटक (155 वर्ग किमी) और झारखंड (110 वर्ग किमी) हैं। 

मणिपुर में कचाई लेमन फेस्टिवल शुरू 

• दो दिवसीय कचाई लेमन फेस्टिवल का 18वां संस्करण मणिपुर में उखरूल जिले के कछाई गांव के स्थानीय मैदान में शुरू हुआ। इस अनोखे प्रकार के नींबू फल को बढ़ावा देने और नींबू किसानों को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए प्रतिवर्ष कचाई लेमन फेस्टिवल का आयोजन किया जाता है। इस वर्ष इस फेस्टिवल में कुल मिलाकर 260 स्टॉल लगाए गए हैं, जिसमें इस वर्ष नींबू की भरपूर फसल का प्रदर्शन किया गया है। इस वर्ष महोत्सव का आयोजन 'सुरक्षित पर्यावरण और ग्रामीण परिवर्तन के लिए जैविक कचाई नींबू' विषय के तहत किया जा रहा है। महोत्सव के तहत कल नींबू किसानों के लिए प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया जाएगा। 

• मणिपुर के कचाई नींबू को भौगोलिक संकेत (जीआई) पंजीकरण टैग दिया गया है और उखरूल जिले के कछाई गांव में व्यापक रूप से उगाया जाता है। विश्‍व के अन्य हिस्सों में उगाई जाने वाली अन्य नींबू किस्मों के विपरीत, कचाई नींबू को अद्वितीय माना जाता है क्योंकि यह एस्कॉर्बिक एसिड का एक समृद्ध स्रोत है और इसकी रस सामग्री के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। 

खेल 

एआईएससीडी 10 से 20 जनवरी, 2023 तक केरल में पहली विश्व बधिर टी20 क्रिकेट चैंपियनशिप की मेजबानी करेगा 

• बधिरों की अखिल भारतीय खेल परिषद को 10-20 जनवरी, 2023 तक केरल में पहली विश्व बधिर टी20 क्रिकेट चैम्पियनशिप की मेजबानी करने के लिए बधिरों के लिए खेल की अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समिति (ICSD) से मंजूरी मिल गई है। इस चैंपियनशिप को 2020-21 में आयोजित करने की योजना थी, लेकिन कोरोनावायरस के अचानक प्रकोप के कारण इसे पहले 2022 तक के लिए स्थगित कर दिया गया और अब इसे 2023 के लिए निर्धारित किया गया है। चैंपियनशिप में कम से कम आठ देशों के भाग लेने की उम्मीद है और इस तरह का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आयोजन भारत में पहली बार आईसीएसडी की मंजूरी से हो रहा है। 

• AISCD बधिरों के लिए एकमात्र केंद्र-मान्यता प्राप्त राष्ट्रीय खेल महासंघ है, जबकि ICSD एकमात्र अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महासंघ है जिसे बधिर खेल आंदोलन के शासी निकाय के रूप में मान्यता प्राप्त है और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति द्वारा स्वीकृत डेफलिम्पिक्स है। 

विज्ञान एवं तकनीक 

इसरो ने गगनयान रॉकेट के लिए क्रायो इंजन का सफल परीक्षण किया 

• भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (ISRO) ने इसरो प्रोपल्शन कॉम्प्लेक्स (आईपीआरसी), महेंद्रगिरि, तमिलनाडु में 720 सेकंड की अवधि के लिए गगनयान कार्यक्रम के लिए क्रायोजेनिक इंजन की योग्यता परीक्षा सफलतापूर्वक आयोजित की है। अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी के अनुसार, इंजन के प्रदर्शन ने परीक्षण के उद्देश्यों को पूरा किया और परीक्षण की पूरी अवधि के दौरान इंजन के पैरामीटर भविष्यवाणियों के साथ निकटता से मेल खाते थे। 

• लंबी अवधि का यह सफल परीक्षण मानव अंतरिक्ष कार्यक्रम-गगनयान के लिए एक प्रमुख मील का पत्थर है। यह गगनयान के मानव-रेटेड प्रक्षेपण यान में शामिल करने के लिए क्रायोजेनिक इंजन की विश्वसनीयता और मजबूती सुनिश्चित करता है। इसके अलावा, इस इंजन को 1810 सेकेंड की कुल अवधि के लिए चार और परीक्षणों से गुजरना होगा। इसके बाद, गगनयान कार्यक्रम के लिए क्रायोजेनिक इंजन योग्यता को पूरा करने के लिए एक और इंजन को दो छोटी अवधि के परीक्षण और एक लंबी अवधि के परीक्षण से गुजरना होगा। 

नियुक्ति एवं इस्‍तीफे 

कुरुक्षेत्र विश्वविद्यालय के प्रोफेसर एमेरिटस तंवर बने आईसीएचआर अध्यक्ष 

• कुरुक्षेत्र विश्वविद्यालय के प्रोफेसर एमेरिटस, रघुवेंद्र तंवर को भारतीय ऐतिहासिक अनुसंधान परिषद (ICHR) के अध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। तंवर की नियुक्ति उस दिन से तीन वर्ष की अवधि के लिए होती है जिस दिन से वह परिषद के अध्यक्ष का पद ग्रहण करते है या अगले आदेश तक। अगस्त 1977 में एक व्याख्याता के रूप में कुरुक्षेत्र विश्वविद्यालय में शामिल हुए तंवर का एमए इतिहास में दो स्वर्ण पदक के साथ एक उत्कृष्ट अकादमिक रिकॉर्ड है। 

• भारतीय ऐतिहासिक अनुसंधान परिषद का प्राथमिक लक्ष्य और उद्देश्य ऐतिहासिक अनुसंधान को बढ़ावा देना और दिशा देना और फोस्टर के उद्देश्य और वैज्ञानिक लेखन को प्रोत्साहित करना और बढ़ावा देना है।आईसीएचआर गतिविधियों के उत्पादन के अकादमिक मानक को बढ़ाना इसके एजेंडे में सबसे महत्वपूर्ण उद्देश्य रहा है। 

शोक संदेश 

29 वर्षीय ओलंपिक और विश्व पदक विजेता डीओन लेंडोर का टेक्सास में कार दुर्घटना में निधन 

• 2020 ओलंपिक में 400 मीटर की दौड़ में भाग लेने वाले ओलंपिक एथलीट डीओन लेंडोर का 29 वर्ष की आयु में टेक्सास, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका (यूएस) में एक घातक कार दुर्घटना के कारण निधन हो गया। उनका जन्म 28 अक्टूबर 1992 को त्रिनिदाद और टोबैगो (कैरेबियन द्वीप समूह, दक्षिण अमेरिका) में हुआ था, जो 400 मीटर चैंपियनशिप के विशेषज्ञ थे। उन्होंने 2012 में लंदन ओलंपिक में भाग लिया और 4×400 मीटर रिले में कांस्य पदक जीता। उन्होंने टोक्यो ओलंपिक 2021 और 2016 रियो ओलंपिक में भी भाग लिया था।

 भारतीय सेना दिवस 2022: 15 जनवरी 

• भारत में सेना दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 15 जनवरी को देश और उसके नागरिकों की रक्षा के लिए अपने प्राणों की आहुति देने वाले बहादुर सैनिकों को सलाम करने के लिए मनाया जाता है। इस वर्ष 74वां भारतीय सेना दिवस है। यह दिन उस दिन को मनाने के लिए मनाया जाता है जब जनरल (बाद में फील्ड मार्शल) केएम करियप्पा ने 1949 में अंतिम ब्रिटिश कमांडर-इन-चीफ जनरल सर एफआरआर बुचर से सेना की कमान संभाली और स्वतंत्रता के बाद भारतीय सेना के पहले कमांडर-इन-चीफ बने। 

• भारतीय सेना विश्‍व की सबसे शक्तिशाली सेनाओं में से एक है, जो अमेरिका, रूस और चीन जैसी महाशक्तियों के साथ प्रतिस्पर्धा कर रही है। भारतीय सेना का आदर्श वाक्य 'स्वयं से पहले सेवा' है और इसका मिशन राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा और राष्ट्रीय एकता सुनिश्चित करना, बाहरी आक्रमण और आंतरिक खतरों से राष्ट्र की रक्षा करना और अपनी सीमाओं के भीतर शांति और सुरक्षा बनाए रखना है। हमारी रक्षा के लिए अपनी जान जोखिम में डालकर बलिदान करने वाले वीर जवानों को नमन। यहां तक कि 1965 में भारत के प्रधानमंत्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री ने भी "जय जवान जय किसान" का नारा दिया था। 

बैंकिंग और आर्थिक 

विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार 878 मिलियन अमरीकी डॉलर घटकर 632.736 बिलियन अमरीकी डॉलर हुआ 

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) के साप्ताहिक आंकड़ों के अनुसार, 7 जनवरी, 2022 को समाप्त सप्ताह में भारत का विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार 878 मिलियन डॉलर घटकर 632.736 बिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर हो गया। 31 दिसंबर को समाप्त हुए पिछले सप्ताह में, भारत के भंडार में 1.466 डॉलर की गिरावट आई थी। अरब से 633.614 अरब डॉलर गिरावट मुख्य रूप से सोने के भंडार और विदेशी मुद्रा संपत्ति (एफसीए) में गिरावट के कारण थी। समीक्षाधीन सप्ताह में, एफसीए 497 मिलियन डॉलर घटकर 569.392 बिलियन डॉलर हो गया। 

• सोने का भंडार 36 करोड़ डॉलर घटकर 39.044 अरब डॉलर रहा। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष (IMF) के साथ विशेष आहरण अधिकार (SDRs) $16 मिलियन गिरकर $19.098 बिलियन हो गया। आईएमएफ के साथ भारत की आरक्षित स्थिति 5 मिलियन डॉलर घटकर 5.202 बिलियन डॉलर हो गई। 

एचडीएफसी बैंक को ग्लोबल प्राइवेट बैंकिंग अवार्ड्स 2021 में 'भारत में सर्वश्रेष्ठ निजी बैंक' चुना गया 

• एचडीएफसी बैंक को 'ग्लोबल प्राइवेट बैंकिंग अवार्ड्स 2021' में भारत में 'सर्वश्रेष्ठ निजी बैंक' के रूप में नामित किया गया था, जिसे एक आभासी समारोह में व्यावसायिक धन प्रबंधन (PWM) द्वारा आयोजित किया गया था। PWM एक धन प्रबंधन पत्रिका है, जिसे फाइनेंशियल टाइम्स ग्रुप द्वारा प्रकाशित किया जाता है। यह पुरस्कार पर्यावरण, सामाजिक और शासन (ईएसजी) रणनीतियों में डिजिटलीकरण, संचार और निवेश सहित प्रमुख रुझानों में तेजी लाने में योगदान के लिए दिया गया था।

INTERNATIONAL 

Cyprus Finds C-19 Infections That Combine Delta and Omicron 

• Cyprus has detected a new variant dubbed as “Deltacron”, that has a similar genetic background to the Delta variant, coupled with 10 mutations from Omicron. The variant has already affected 25 people in Cyprus. According to Dr Leondios Kostrikis, the head of the laboratory of biotechnology and molecular virology at the University of Cyprus, of the 25 samples taken in Cyprus, 11 were hospitalised due to the virus, while 14 were from the general population. 

• The new variant from the lineage named B.1.640.2 is believed to have infected 12 people in the country, according to the yet-to-be peer-reviewed study supported by the French government. Studies have shown that the co-existence of Delta and Omicron increases the chances of a new variant as a result of them trading genes. 

NATIONAL 

India’s Forest, Tree Cover Rose By 2,261 Sq Km In Last 2 Years: Environment Minister Releases Report 

• Union Environment Minister, Bhupender Yadav has launched the 17th edition of the biennial ‘India State of Forest Report (ISFR)’ 2021. ISFR is released by the Forest Survey of India (FSI), every two years since 1987 to assess the country’s forest resources. India’s forest and tree cover rose by 2,261 square kilometres in ISFR 2021 as compared to the assessment of 2019. This includes an increase of 1,540 square kilometres in forest cover and a 721 sq km increase in tree cover. 

• The forest and tree cover in India is now 8,09,537 sq km. Total forest cover is 7,13,789 sq km, (21.71 per cent of the geographical area) and tree cover is 95,748 sq km (2.91 per cent of the geographical area). 

• The total forest and tree cover in the country is now spread across 80.9 million hectares or 24.62% of the geographical area of the country. 

• The top five states in terms of increase in forest cover are Andhra Pradesh (647 sq km), Telangana (632 sq km), Odisha (537 sq km), Karnataka (155 sq km) and Jharkhand (110 sq km). 

Kachai Lemon Festival begins in Manipur 

• The 18th edition of the two days long Kachai Lemon Festival began in Manipur at the Local Ground of Kachai Village in Ukhrul district. The Kachai Lemon Festival is organised annually to promote this unique kind of lemon fruit and to encourage lemon farmers. This year, altogether 260 stalls are put up at the festival showcasing the rich reap of lemon this year. This year the festival is being organised under the theme ‘Organic Kachai Lemon for Safe Environment and Rural Transformation’. A training program for lemon farmers will be held tomorrow as part of the festival. 

• Kachai Lemon of Manipur has been accorded Geographical Indication (GI) registration tag and widely grown in the Kachai Village of Ukhrul district. Unlike the other lemon varieties grown in other parts of the world, Kachai Lemon is considered to be unique as it is a rich source of ascorbic acid and famous for its juice content. 

SPORTS 

AISCD will host the first World Deaf T20 Cricket Championship in Kerala from January 10 to 20, 2023 

• The All India Sports Council of the Deaf has got approval from the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) to host the first World Deaf T20 Cricket Championship in Kerala from January 10-20, 2023. This championship was planned to be conducted in 2020-21 but due to the sudden outbreak of coronavirus, it was postponed first to 2022 & now fixed for 2023. A minimum of eight countries are expected to take part in the championship and this kind of international event is being held in India with the approval of the ICSD for the first time.” 

• AISCD is the only Centre-recognised national sports federation for the deaf, while the ICSD is the only international federation recognized as governing body of the deaf sports movement and Deaflympics sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee. 

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY 

Isro successfully conducts cryo engine test for Gaganyaan rocket 

• Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully conducted the qualification test of Cryogenic Engine for Gaganyaan programme for a duration of 720 seconds at ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu. According to the space agency, the performance of the engine met the test objectives and the engine parameters were closely matching with the predictions during the entire duration of the test. 

• This successful long-duration test is a major milestone for the Human Space Programme – Gaganyaan. It ensures the reliability and robustness of the cryogenic engine for induction into the human-rated launch vehicle for Gaganyaan. Further, this engine will undergo four more tests for a cumulative duration of 1810 seconds. Subsequently, one more engine will undergo two short-duration tests & one long-duration test to complete the cryogenic engine qualification for Gaganyaan Programme. 

APPOINTMEN & RESIGNATION 

Kurukshetra University's Prof Emeritus Tanwar Made ICHR Chairman 

• Professor emeritus, Kurukshetra University, Raghuvendra Tanwar has been appointed as chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR). Tanwar appointment is for a period of three years from the day he assumes the office of the Chairman of the Council or until further order. Tanwar, who joined Kurukshetra University as a lecturer in August 1977, has an outstanding academic record, with two gold medals in MA History. 

• The primary aim and objective of the Indian Council of Historical Research is to promote and give directions to historical research and to encourage and foster objective and scientific writing of history. Enhancing the academic standard of the output of ICHR activities has been the foremost objective in it’s agenda. 

OBITURY 

29-year-old Olympic & World Medallist Deon Lendore Passes Away In Car Crash In Texas 

• Olympic athlete Deon Lendore, who participated in the 400 meters race at the 2020 Olympics, passed away at the age of 29 years due to a fatal car accident in Texas, United States (US). He was born on 28 October 1992 in Trinidad and Tobago (the Caribbean Islands, South America), was an expert of 400 meters championships. He participated in the London Olympics in 2012 and won a Bronze medal in 4×400 meter relay. He also participated in the Tokyo Olympic 2021 and in 2016 Rio Olympics.

Indian Army Day 2022 : 15th January 

• The Army Day in India is celebrated on 15 January every year, to salute the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country and its citizens. This year marks the 74th Indian Army Day. The day is marked to commemorate the day when General (later Field Marshal) KM Carriappa took over the command of the Army from General Sir FRR Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief in 1949 and became the first Commander-in-Chief of Indian Army post Independence. 

• The Indian Army is one of the most powerful militaries of the world, competing with superpowers like the US, Russia and China. The motto of the Indian Army is ‘service before self’ and its mission is to ensure national security and national unity, defend the nation from external aggression and internal threats, and maintain peace and security within its borders. Salute to the brave soldiers, who risk and sacrifice their lives to protect us. Even the Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1965 had given the slogan like “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan”. 

BANKING AND ECONOMIC 

Forex reserves down by USD 878 mn to USD 632.736 bn 

• As per the weekly Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data, the foreign exchange reserves of India declined by $878 million to USD 632.736 billion in the week ended January 7, 2022. In the previous week ended December 31, India’s reserves dropped by $1.466 billion to $633.614 billion. The decline was mainly due to a fall in gold reserves and foreign currency assets (FCA). In the reporting week, FCAs decreased by $497 million to $569.392 billion. 

• Gold reserves declined by $360 million to $39.044 billion. The special drawing rights (SDRs) with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) fell by $16 million to $19.098 billion. India’s reserve position with the IMF dipped by $5 million to $5.202 billion.

PWM is a wealth management Magazine, published by the Financial Times Group.
