डब्ल्यूएचओ ने भारतीय C-19 संस्करण को "चिंता का वैश्विक संस्करण" के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया

• विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन ने भारत में पाए जाने वाले C-19 प्रकार को वैश्विक "चिंता के प्रकार" के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया है। इस वेरिएंट को B.1.617 नाम दिया गया है। विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के अनुसार, यह संस्करण पहले से ही 30 से अधिक देशों में फैल चुका है। यह अन्य वेरिएंट की तुलना में अधिक ट्रांसमिसिबल है। इस संस्करण को "डबल म्यूटेंट वेरिएंट" भी कहा जाता है। यह यूनाइटेड किंगडम के स्वास्थ्य अधिकारियों द्वारा पहली बार पहचाना गया था।
• B.1.617 संस्करण डब्ल्यूएचओ द्वारा वर्गीकृत C-19 का चौथा संस्करण है। इसके दो उत्परिवर्तन हैं जिन्हें E484Q और L452R कहा जाता है।

अर्जुन पुरस्कार विजेता प्रसिद्ध पैडलर चंद्रशेखर का निधन

• C-19 से संबंधित जटिलताओं के कारण तीन बार के राष्ट्रीय टेबल टेनिस चैंपियन और पूर्व अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पैडलर वी. चंद्रशेखर का निधन हो गया है।
• वह तमिझागा टेबल टेनिस एसोसिएशन (TTTA) के वर्तमान अध्यक्ष थे। 63 वर्षीय चंद्रशेखर ने 1982 में अर्जुन पुरस्कार प्राप्त किया। सीता श्रीकांत के साथ चंद्रा की आत्मकथा, माय फाइटबेक फ्रॉम डेथस डोर का प्रकाशन 2006 में हुआ था।

स्वतंत्रता सेनानी अनूप भट्टाचार्य का निधन

• स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और स्वाधीन बंगला बेतर केंद्र के संगीतकार, अनूप भट्टाचार्य का निधन हो गया है। बांग्लादेश मुक्ति संग्राम के दौरान, उन्होंने स्वाधीन बंगला बेतर केंद्र में संगीतकार और संगीत निर्देशक के रूप में काम किया था। वह रवीन्द्र संगीत शिल्पी संस्था के संस्थापक सदस्य भी हैं।

ICAS की कार्यकारी समिति में शामिल हुई मनीषा कपूर

• एडवरटाइजिंग स्टैंडर्ड्स काउंसिल ऑफ इंडिया ने घोषणा की कि उसके महासचिव मनीषा कपूर को इंटरनेशनल काउंसिल फॉर एडवरटाइजिंग सेल्फ रेगुलेशन (ICAS) की कार्यकारी समिति में नियुक्त किया गया है। अप्रैल तक, ASCI ने कार्यकारी समिति में दो साल के कार्यकाल के लिए सदस्य के रूप में कार्य किया। अब, कपूर 2023 तक समिति में नेतृत्व की भूमिका निभाएंगी। वह कार्यकारी समिति के चार वैश्विक उपाध्यक्षों में से एक होंगी।

राजीव तारानाथ को मिलेगा बसवश्री पुरस्कार

• शास्त्रीय संगीतकार पंडित राजीव तारानाथ और अंतरिक्ष वैज्ञानिक डॉ के. कस्तूरीरंगन को क्रमशः 2019 और 2020 के लिए प्रतिष्ठित बसवश्री पुरस्कार मिलेगा, शुक्रवार को इसकी, मुरुघा मठ के पुजारी डॉ शिवमूर्ति मुरुघ शरणारू ने घोषणा की।
• द्रष्टा, बसवा जयंती समारोह के अवसर पर, 17 अक्टूबर, 1932 को बैंगलोर में जन्‍में पंडित राजीव तारानाथ ने कहा, जब वह सिर्फ नौ साल के थे, तब उन्होंने अपना पहला सार्वजनिक प्रदर्शन दिया। वह 20 साल की उम्र से पहले ऑल इंडिया रेडियो के लिए गा रहे थे। उन्होंने उस्ताद अली अकबर खान, पं रविशंकर, निखिल बनर्जी, आशीष खान और अन्नपूर्णादेवी के तहत सरोद में प्रशिक्षित किया था।

नुकू फोम ने व्हिटली अवार्ड 2021 जीता

• नागालैंड के सुदूर लॉन्गलेंग जिले के एक पर्यावरणविद् ने इस साल का व्हिटली अवार्ड्स 2021 जीता है, जिसे ग्रीन ऑस्कर भी कहा जाता है। यूके स्थित व्हिटली फंड फॉर नेचर (डब्ल्यूएफएन) द्वारा आयोजित एक आभासी पुरस्कार समारोह में बुधवार शाम पांच अन्य लोगों के साथ नुक्लू फोम के नाम की घोषणा की गई।
• यह पुरस्कार स्थानीय लोगों द्वारा शिकार किए जाने से हर साल नागालैंड में आने वाले अमूर फाल्कन्स के भाग्य को बदलने वाले एक नए जैव विविधता शांति गलियारे की स्थापना के लिए फोम के प्रयासों को मान्यता देता है। 40,000 पाउंड का यह पुरस्कार नागालैंड में अमूर फाल्कन्स की रक्षा और जैव विविधता बढ़ाने के लिए समुदाय के स्वामित्व वाले जंगलों का एक नया नेटवर्क बनाने के लिए है।

भारतीय मूल की शकुंतला हरक सिंह को मिला विश्व खाद्य पुरस्कार 2021

• भारतीय मूल की वैश्विक पोषण विशेषज्ञ, डॉ. शकुंतला हरक सिंह थिलस्टेड को वर्ष 2021 का "विश्व खाद्य पुरस्कार" मिला है। उन्‍हे समुद्री भोजन और खाद्य प्रणालियों के लिए एक समग्र और पोषण के प्रति संवेदनशील दृष्टिकोण विकसित किया और अपने शोध के लिए एक पुरस्कार प्राप्त किया। इस पुरस्कार को खाद्य और कृषि के लिए नोबेल पुरस्कार के रूप में भी जाना जाता है। हर साल, समिति एक ऐसे व्यक्ति का चयन करती है, जिसे $ 250,000 की उपाधि और पुरस्कार राशि से सम्मानित किया जाता है।
• विश्व खाद्य पुरस्कार ने अपनी वेबसाइट पर कहा कि बांग्लादेश की छोटी मछली प्रजातियों पर डॉ. शकुंतला द्वारा किए गए शोध, सभी स्तरों पर समुद्री खाद्य प्रणाली के लिए पोषण के प्रति संवेदनशील दृष्टिकोण विकसित करने में मददगार साबित होंगे। इसकी मदद से एशिया और अफ्रीका में रहने वाले लाखों गरीबों को बहुत पौष्टिक आहार मिलेगा।

यूएस में GooglePay उपयोगकर्ता अब भारत, सिंगापुर में पैसे ट्रांसफर कर सकते हैं

• अल्फाबेट इंक के Google ने अपने यू.एस. भुगतान ऐप के उपयोगकर्ताओं के लिए प्रेषण फर्मों वाइज और वेस्टर्न यूनियन कंपनी के साथ अंतर्राष्ट्रीय धन हस्तांतरण साझेदारी शुरू की है। संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में Google पे उपयोगकर्ता अब भारत और सिंगापुर में ऐप ग्राहकों को धन हस्तांतरित कर सकते हैं, वाइज के माध्यम से उपलब्ध 80 देशों में और वर्ष के अंत तक 200 वेस्टर्न यूनियन के माध्यम से विस्तार करने की योजना है।
• कंपनी ने Western Union & Wise के साथ भागीदारी की है, दोनों ने अपनी सेवाओं को Google Play में एकीकृत किया है।

WHO classified Indian C-19 variant as a “global variant of concern”

• The World Health Organization has classified a C-19 variant found in India as a global “variant of concern”. This variant has been named B.1.617. According to World Health Organization, this variant is already spread to more than 30 countries. It is more transmissible than other variants. This variant is also called the “double mutant variant”. It was 1st identified by the United Kingdom health authorities.
• The B.1.617 variant is the fourth variant of C-19 classified by the WHO. It has two mutations referred to as E484Q and L452R.

OBITUARY

Arjuna-winning veteran paddler Chandrasekar passes away due to C-19

• Three-time National table tennis champion and former International paddler V. Chandrasekar passed away due to C-19-related complications. He was the current president of Tamizhaga Table Tennis Association (TTTA).
• The 63-year-old Chandrasekar, a 1982 Arjuna Award winner. Chandra’s autobiography with Seetha Srikanth, My fightback from Death’s Door published in 2006.

Freedom fighter Anup Bhattacharya passes away

• Freedom fighter and Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra musician, Anup Bhattacharya passed away. During the liberation war of Bangladesh, he worked as the composer and music director at Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. He is also a founder member of the Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha.
• His ever-present liberation songs including “Teer Hara Ei Dheu-er Sagor,” “Rokto Diye Naam Likhhechhi,” “Purbo Digonte Surjo Utheche,” and “Nongor Tolo Tolo” inspired the liberation war fighters during 1971. Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra was the medium for radio broadcasting in 1971.

Manisha Kapoor joins executive committee of ICAS

• Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) announced that its general secretary Manisha Kapoor has been appointed to the executive committee of the International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (ICAS). Until April, ASCI served on the executive committee as a member for a two-year term. Now, Kapoor will play a leadership role on the committee till 2023. She will be one of the four global vice-presidents on the executive committee.
• In her role as part of the ICAS leadership team, she will promote advertising self-regulation as an optimal mechanism for consumer protection, strengthen ICAS as a global alliance and facilitate knowledge sharing among SROs to establish best practices and monitor global trends in advertising ecosystem that impact self-regulation. She will also work closely with established and emerging digital platforms to make the online space more transparent and fair for consumers.

Rajeev taranath to get Basavashree award

• Classical musician Pandit Rajeev Taranath and space scientist Dr K Kasturirangan will receive the prestigious Basavashree award for 2019 and 2020, respectively, announced Murugha Mutt pontiff Dr Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru on Friday.
• The seer, on the occasion of Basava Jayanti celebrations, said Pt Rajeev Taranath, born in Bangalore on October 17, 1932, gave his first public performance when he was just nine years old. He was singing for All India Radio before he was 20. He was trained in Sarod under Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Pt Ravishankar, Nikhil Banerjee, Aashish Khan and Annapoornadevi.

Nuku Phom wins Whitely Award 2021

• An environmentalist from Nagaland’s remote Longleng district has won this year’s Whitley Awards 2021, also known as the Green Oscar. Nuklu Phom’s name, along with that of five others, was announced Wednesday evening in a virtual award ceremony organised by the UK-based Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN).
• The award recognises Phom’s efforts at establishing a new biodiversity peace corridor changing the fate of Amur Falcons, which come to roost in Nagaland each year, from being hunted by locals. Worth £40,000, the award is for creating a new network of community-owned forests to protect Amur Falcons and increase biodiversity in Nagaland.

Shakuntala Hark Singh of Indian origin receives World Food Award 2021

• Indian-origin global nutritionist, Dr Shakuntala Hark Singh Thilstad has received the “World Food Award” of the year 2021. She developed a holistic and nutritionally sensitive approach to seafood and food systems and has received an award for his research. The award is also known as the Nobel Prize for Food and Agriculture. Every year, the committee selects a person who will be awarded the $ 250,000 title and prize money.
• The World Food Award stated on its website that research conducted by Dr Shakuntala on the small fish species of Bangladesh will prove helpful in developing a nutritionally sensitive approach to the seafood system at all levels. With this help, millions of poor people living in Asia and Africa will get a very nutritious diet.

Google Pay users in US can now transfer money to India, Singapore

• Alphabet Inc’s Google has launched international money transfer partnerships with remittances firms Wise and Western Union Co for users of its U.S. payments app. Google Pay users in the United States can now transfer money to app customers in India and Singapore, with plans to expand to the 80 countries available via Wise, and 200 via Western Union by the end of the year.
• The company has partnered with Western Union and Wise, both of which have integrated their services into Google Play.
