Mario Draghi ने इटली के प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ली

• पूर्व यूरोपीय सेंट्रल बैंक के प्रमुख मारियो Draghi ने वायरस संकट और आर्थिक मंदी का सामना करने के लिए बुलाए गए एकता सरकार के प्रमुख के रूप में इटली के प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ली है।
• घर और अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर एक प्रतिष्ठित व्यक्ति, Draghi, देश के सभी प्रमुख दलों को अपनी सरकार का समर्थन करने के लिए मनाने में कामयाब रहे।

 भारत ने खाद्य सुरक्षा को मजबूत करने के लिए सीरिया को 2000 टन चावल भेजे

• भारत ने मध्य पूर्वी देश में खाद्य सुरक्षा को मजबूत करने के उद्देश्य से सीरिया को 2000 मीट्रिक टन चावल उपहार में दिया है।
• विदेश मंत्रालय में शुक्रवार को एक बयान में कहा गया कि सीरिया में भारत के राजदूत, हिफज़ुर रहमान और सर्वोच्च राहत समिति के प्रमुख हुसैन मखलफ द्वारा 1000 मीट्रिक टन चावल की पहली खेप गुरुवार को सौंपी गई।
• शेष 1000 मीट्रिक टन चावल 18 फरवरी को सीरिया पहुंचने की उम्मीद है। आपातकालीन मानवीय सहायता के लिए सीरिया सरकार से अनुरोध के जवाब में चावल की आपूर्ति की जा रही है।

 करीम खान: ब्रिटेन के वकील को आईसीसी में मुख्य अभियोजक चुना गया

• 50 वर्षीय करीम खान वर्तमान में इराक में इस्लामिक स्टेट समूह द्वारा किए गए युद्ध अपराधों की संयुक्त राष्ट्र की जांच का प्रमुख है।
• आईसीसी मानवता के खिलाफ अपराधों की जांच करने वाला एकमात्र स्थायी निकाय है।
• श्री खान ने दूसरे दौर के मतदान में 123 में से 72 देशों के वोट जीते और जून में हेग में अदालत में अपना नौ साल का कार्यकाल शुरू करेंगे।

 रश्मि सामंत: पहली भारतीय महिला ऑक्सफोर्ड स्टूडेंट यूनियन प्रमुख

• रश्मि सामंत ने ऑक्सफ़ोर्ड स्टूडेंट्स यूनियन की प्रमुख बनने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला बनकर इतिहास रच दिया है। कर्नाटक की मणिपाल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी की एक पूर्व छात्र, सुश्री सामंत ने अपने लिंक्डइन प्रोफाइल में कहा है कि वह "एक स्थायी ऊर्जा उत्साही है जो दुनिया के बिगड़ते जलवायु को ठीक करने के लिए प्रभावी नीति निर्धारण और ऊर्जा समानता में विश्वास करती है"।
• विश्वविद्यालय में अपनी वेबसाइट पर एक पोस्ट में कहा गया है कि सुश्री सामंत ने 1,996 मतों के साथ छात्रसंघ चुनाव जीता, उनके सभी विरोधियों ने एक साथ अधिक से अधिक वोट डाले।

2021 के लिए पराग सम्मान सूची में 35 बच्चों की किताबें

• विनोद कुमार शुक्ल, जेरी पिंटो, नंदिनी नायर और नंदिता दा कुन्हा जैसे लेखकों और साहित्यकारों द्वारा फिक्शन, नॉन-फिक्शन और काव्य विधाओं के लिए पैंतीस पुस्तकें अंग्रेजी और हिंदी में पराग सम्मान सूची 2021 में दी गई हैं। वर्तमान में इसका दूसरा संस्करण, टाटा ट्रस्ट्स के पराग पहल की इस वार्षिक सूची में पिछले एक साल में प्रकाशित बच्चों की सर्वश्रेष्ठ पुस्तकें हैं।
• यह सूची शनिवार को अभिनेता सोहा अली खान द्वारा लॉन्च की गई, जिन्होंने कहा कि ऐसी क्यूरेटेड रीडिंग लिस्ट प्रत्येक वर्ष प्रकाशित होने वाली सर्वश्रेष्ठ भारतीय बच्चों की किताबों के बारे में जानने के लिए शिक्षकों, पुस्तकालयाध्यक्षों और अभिभावकों का समर्थन कर सकती है। इस संस्करण के लिए, पराग को 26 भारतीय प्रकाशकों की किताबें मिलीं, जो अक्टूबर 2019 और सितंबर 2020 के बीच प्रकाशित हुईं। पीएचएल जूरी के सदस्य अरुंधति देओथले, गुरबचन सिंह और सुनीता मिश्रा (हिंदी) और अरविंद गुप्ता, प्राची कालरा और समीना मिश्रा (अंग्रेजी) थीं।

 पटना में जल्द ही शुरू होने वाला भारत का पहला डॉल्फिन अनुसंधान केंद्र

• पटना में लंबे समय से प्रतीक्षित राष्ट्रीय डॉल्फिन अनुसंधान केंद्र (एनडीआरसी) के एक महीने के भीतर बनने की संभावना है।
• पिछले साल, मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने केंद्र की आधारशिला रखी थी और भवन के लिए धन भी भवन निर्माण विभाग (बीसीडी) को मंजूर किया गया था, लेकिन चीजें इससे आगे नहीं बढ़ सकीं।

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने नदी और समुद्री डॉल्फिन दोनों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने के लिए प्रोजेक्ट टाइगर की तर्ज पर पिछले साल प्रोजेक्ट डॉल्फिन की घोषणा की। इस परियोजना को राष्ट्रीय गंगा परिषद (NGC) की पहली बैठक में सैद्धांतिक रूप से मंजूरी भी मिल गई, जिसकी अध्यक्षता पीएम ने की।

 मुस्कान हिमाचल प्रदेश में सबसे कम उम्र के जिला परिषद अध्यक्ष बनी

• महज 21 वर्ष की मुस्कान हिमाचल प्रदेश की सबसे युवा जिला परिषद अध्यक्ष बनी हैं। मुस्कान ने अपनी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा राजकीय वरिष्ठ माध्यमिक पाठशाला बरमाणा से पूरी की है। वह सिरमौर जिला के लॉ कॉलेज कालाअंब से अपनी बीए, एलएलबी के अंतिम वर्ष की पढ़ाई पूरी कर रही हैं।
• मुस्कान ने 21 वर्ष की उम्र में जिला परिषद अध्यक्ष बनकर इतिहास रचा है। मुस्कान ने बरमाणा वार्ड से बतौर निर्दलीय चुनाव लड़ा था। उन्होंने भाजपा प्रत्याशी को हराकर जीत हासिल की थी। मुस्कान को अपने पाले में लाने के लिए कांग्रेस और भाजपा दोनों दल प्रयास कर रहे थे।

Mario Draghi sworn in as prime minister of Italy

• The former European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi has been sworn in as Italy’s prime minister at the head of a unity government called on to confront the coronavirus crisis and economic slump.
• Draghi, a respected figure at home and internationally, managed to convince almost all of the country’s main parties to support his government, with leaders from the far-right League and populist Five Star Movement (M5S) adopting more moderate, pro-European tones in recent days.

India Gifts 2000 Tonnes Of Rice To Syria To Strengthen Food Security

• India has gifted 2000 metric tonnes of rice to Syria with an aim to strengthen food security in the middle eastern country.
• The first consignment of 1000 metric tonnes of rice was handed over by India Ambassador to Syria, Hifzur Rahman to the Minister of Local Administration and Head of Supreme Relief Committee Hussain Makhlouf on Thursday, Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Friday.
• The remaining 1000 metric tonnes of rice is expected to reach Syria on February 18. The rice is being supplied in response to a request from the Syrian government for emergency humanitarian assistance.

 Karim Khan: UK lawyer elected chief prosecutor at ICC

• Karim Khan, 50, currently heads a United Nations investigation into war crimes committed by the Islamic State group in Iraq.
• The ICC is the only permanent body investigating crimes against humanity.
• Mr Khan won the votes of 72 out of 123 countries in the second round of voting, and will begin his nine-year term at the court in the Hague in June.

 Rashmi Samant First Indian Woman To Head Oxford Students' Union

• Rashmi Samant has made history by becoming the first Indian woman to head the Oxford Students' Union. An alumnus of Karnataka's Manipal Institute of Technology, Ms Samant in her LinkedIn profile says she is "a sustainable energy enthusiast who believes in effective policymaking and energy equality for healing the deteriorating climate of the world".
• Ms Samant won the students' union election with 1,996 votes, more than all her opponents put together, the university said in a post on its website.
• In her manifesto, Ms Samant promised to "tackle the institutional homophobia and transphobia", "decolonisation of the syllabi" and "remove all statues proven to be imperialist, including Chritopher Codrington".

35 children’s books in Parag Honour List for 2021

• Thirty-five books for children and young adults across fiction, non-fiction and poetry genres by authors like Vinod Kumar Shukl, Jerry Pinto, Nandini Nayar and Nandita Da Cunha in English and Hindi feature in the Parag Honour List 2021. Currently in its second edition, this annual list by the Parag Initiative of Tata Trusts features best of children’s books published in the past one year.
• The list was launched Saturday by actor Soha Ali Khan, who said such curated reading lists can support educators, librarians and parents to know about the best Indian children’s books being published each year. For this edition, Parag received books from 26 Indian publishers, published between October 2019 and September 2020. The PHL jury members were Arundhati Deosthale, Gurbachan Singh and Suneeta Mishra (Hindi) and Arvind Gupta, Prachi Kalra and Samina Mishra (English).

 India’s first dolphin research centre to start soon in Patna

• The society for the long-awaited National Dolphin Research Centre (NDRC) is likely to be formed within a month, officials said.
• Last year, chief minister Nitish Kumar had laid the foundation stone of the centre and the fund for the building was also sanctioned to the building construction department (BCD), but things could not move beyond that.
• Principal secretary, department of forest and environment, Dipak Kumar Singh said that there were some issues with Patna University on the society formation, but that has now been sorted out. “The society will be formed within a month. The construction of the building in Patna University will also get underway soon. Fund has already been sanctioned,” he added.
• With Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announcing Project Dolphin last year on the lines of Project Tiger to focus on both river and sea dolphins, the centre has acquired more importance. The project also got in-principle approval at the first meeting of the National Ganga Council (NGC), headed by the PM.

Muskan becomes the youngest zila parishad chairman in himachal pradesh

• While the pandemic-induced lockdown left many graduates in a rough patch with lack of employment opportunities, a 21-year-old woman in Himachal’s Bilaspur district has made it to the limelight by becoming one of the youngest candidates to get elected to a Zila Parishad Chairperson’s post.
• Like most colleges, Muskan’s college located in Kala Amb in Sirmaur district shut when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out last year. When Muskan returned home to Barmana in Bilaspur she decided to contest the local polls and to everyone’s astonishment she emerged victorious.
