भारत का पहला 'वाटर प्लस' प्रमाणित शहर है एमपी का इंदौर

• भारत के सबसे स्वच्छ शहर, मध्य प्रदेश के इंदौर ने स्वच्छ सर्वेक्षण 2021 के तहत देश के पहले 'वाटर प्लस' प्रमाणित शहर के रूप में घोषित होने की एक और उपलब्धि हासिल की है। स्वच्छ सर्वेक्षण पूरे शहरों और कस्बों में सफाई , स्वच्छता और स्वच्छता का वार्षिक सर्वेक्षण है और भारत के स्वच्छ भारत मिशन के रूप में लॉन्च किया गया।
• इंदौर ने एक सर्वेक्षण किया और नदियों , नालों में जाने वाले 7,000 गंदे पानी को रोका।
• इसके अलावा, शहर के 30 प्रतिशत सीवेज पानी को पुनर्नवीनीकरण और पुन: उपयोग किया गया था। इस पुनर्नवीनीकरण पानी का उपयोग लोग अपने बगीचों और कुछ निर्माण स्थलों में करते थे।

 भारत ने वर्चुअल प्लेटफॉर्म पर IBSA पर्यटन मंत्रियों की बैठक का आयोजन किया

• भारत ने वर्चुअल प्लेटफॉर्म के माध्यम से IBSA (India, Brazil and South Africa) पर्यटन मंत्रियों की बैठक का आयोजन किया। भारत के केंद्रीय पर्यटन मंत्री, श्री जी किशन रेड्डी ने बैठक की अध्यक्षता की। ब्राजील के संघीय गणराज्य के पर्यटन मंत्री, गिलसन मचाडो नेटो और दक्षिण अफ्रीका गणराज्य के उप पर्यटन मंत्री, फिश अमोस महललेला ने भारत की आईबीएसए अध्यक्षता के तहत वीडियोकांफ्रेंसिंग में भाग लिया।
• बैठक ने सदस्य राज्यों के बीच पर्यटन सहयोग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए एक मंच प्रदान किया और पर्यटन क्षेत्र पर C-19 महामारी के प्रभाव को दूर करने के लिए पर्यटन में सहयोग को मजबूत करने के महत्व को मान्यता दी।
• बैठक IBSA पर्यटन मंत्रियों के संयुक्त वक्तव्य-यात्रा और पर्यटन की त्वरित रिकवरी के लिए सहयोग और प्रोत्साहन पर एक दस्तावेज, को अपनाने के साथ समाप्त हुई।

एनएस तोमर ने सदस्य देशों के कृषि मंत्रियों की छठी एससीओ बैठक को संबोधित किया

• केंद्रीय कृषि और किसान कल्याण मंत्री नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर ने शंघाई सहयोग संगठन (SCO) के सदस्य देशों के कृषि मंत्रियों की छठी बैठक को वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के जरिए संबोधित किया। बैठक का आयोजन दुशांबे में ताजिकिस्तान की अध्यक्षता में किया गया था।
• बैठक के दौरान, नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर ने ग्रामीण युवाओं, किसानों और कृषि महिलाओं को सशक्त बनाने के लिए नवीन तकनीकों को विकसित करने और प्रयोगशाला से भूमि तक उनके प्रसार के लिए भारत सरकार द्वारा उठाए जा रहे कई कदमों पर प्रकाश डाला।
• तोमर के अलावा, केंद्रीय कृषि और किसान कल्याण राज्य मंत्री शोभा करंदलाजे भी बैठक में शामिल हुईं।

उन्मुक्त चंद विश्व कप विजेता U19 भारतीय कप्तान ने भारत में संन्यास की घोषणा की

• भारत की अंडर-19 विश्व कप विजेता टीम के कप्तान रहे उन्मुक्त चंद ने शुक्रवार को खेल के सभी प्रारूपों से संन्यास लेने की घोषणा कर दी है। उन्होंने नाबाद 111 रन बनाए थे, जिससे ऑस्ट्रेलिया के टाउन्सविले में 2012 अंडर -19 विश्व कप फाइनल में ऑस्ट्रेलिया पर तनावपूर्ण जीत दर्ज की गई थी। 28 वर्ष में उन्होंने घरेलू क्रिकेट में भारत A के साथ-साथ दिल्ली और उत्तराखंड का भी नेतृत्व किया, उन्होंने आईपीएल में मुंबई इंडियंस, दिल्ली कैपिटल्स और राजस्थान रॉयल्स का प्रतिनिधित्व किया।
• 2010 में अपने पदार्पण के बाद से, चंद ने 67 प्रथम श्रेणी के मैच खेले, जिसमें 31.57 की औसत से 3379 रन बनाए। 120 लिस्ट A मैचों में, चंद ने 41.33 की औसत से 4505 रन बनाए। उन्होंने 77 T20 में, 22.35 की औसत से 1565 रन बनाए।

शाकिब अल हसन, स्टैफनी टेलर ने जुलाई के महीने के लिए ICC प्लेयर ऑफ द मंथ चुना गया

• बांग्लादेश के हरफनमौला खिलाड़ी शाकिब अल हसन और वेस्टइंडीज के कप्तान स्टेफानी टेलर को जुलाई के लिए क्रमश: पुरुष और महिला वर्ग में आईसीसी प्लेयर ऑफ द मंथ चुना गया। शाकिब को वेस्टइंडीज के हेडन वॉल्श जूनियर और ऑस्ट्रेलिया के मिशेल मार्श के साथ नामांकित किया गया था।

शाकिब अल हसन:

• खेल के तीनों प्रारूपों में शाकिब के योगदान ने बांग्लादेश को पिछले महीने जिम्बाब्वे के खिलाफ श्रृंखला जीतने में मदद की। उन्होंने हरारे स्पोर्ट्स क्लब में दूसरे वनडे में जिम्बाब्वे पर बांग्लादेश की तीन विकेट से जीत में नाबाद 96 रन बनाए थे।

• टेलर पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ सीमित ओवरों की श्रृंखला में वेस्टइंडीज के लिए असाधारण प्रदर्शन करने वाले खिलाड़ी थी।

डूरंड कप, एशिया का सबसे पुराना और विश्‍व का तीसरा सबसे पुराना फुटबॉल टूर्नामेंट कोलकाता में 130वें संस्करण के साथ फिर से प्रवेश

• एशिया का सबसे पुराना और विश्‍व का तीसरा सबसे पुराना फुटबॉल टूर्नामेंट डुरंड कप एक वर्ष के अंतराल के बाद वापसी करने के लिए पूरी तरह तैयार है। डुरंड कप का 130वां संस्करण 05 सितंबर से 03 अक्टूबर, 2021 के बीच कोलकाता और उसके आसपास आयोजित होने वाला है। C-19 महामारी के कारण पिछले सीजन में प्रतियोगिता रद्द कर दी गई थी।
• प्रतिष्ठित टूर्नामेंट पहली बार 1888 में दगशाई (हिमाचल प्रदेश) में आयोजित किया गया था और इसका नाम मोर्टिमर डुरंड के नाम पर रखा गया था, जो उस समय भारत के प्रभारी विदेश सचिव थे।
• टूर्नामेंट शुरू में ब्रिटिश सैनिकों के बीच स्वास्थ्य और फिटनेस को बनाए रखने का एक सचेत तरीका था, लेकिन बाद में इसे नागरिकों के लिए खोल दिया गया और वर्तमान में यह विश्‍व के प्रमुख खेल आयोजनों में से एक है।
• मोहन बागान और ईस्ट बंगाल डुरंड कप के इतिहास में सबसे सफल टीमें हैं जिन्होंने इसे सोलह बार जीता है।

विश्व अंगदान दिवस 2021: 13 अगस्त

• विश्व अंग दान दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 13 अगस्त को मनाया जाता है। यह दिन अंग दान के महत्व के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने और लोगों को मृत्यु के बाद अंग दान करने के लिए प्रेरित करने के लिए मनाया जाता है। यह दिन सभी को आगे आने और अपने कीमती अंगों को दान करने का संकल्प लेने का अवसर प्रदान करता है क्योंकि एक अंग दाता आठ लोगों की जान बचा सकता है।
• अंगदान दाता के मरने के बाद दाता के अंग जैसे हृदय , यकृत , गुर्दे , आंतों , फेफड़े और अग्न्याशय को पुनः प्राप्त कर रहा है और फिर किसी अन्य व्यक्ति में प्रत्यारोपण कर रहा है जिसे अंग की आवश्यकता है।

 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय वामपंथी दिवस 2021: 13 अगस्त

• अंतरराष्ट्रीय वामपंथी दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 13 अगस्त को बाएं हाथ के लोगों की विशिष्टता और मतभेदों का जश्न मनाने के लिए मनाया जाता है और मुख्य रूप से दाएं हाथ की विश्‍व में बाएं हाथ के होने के फायदे और नुकसान के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए मनाया जाता है। ऑक्सफोर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी के 2019 के एक अध्ययन के अनुसार, बाएं हाथ के लोगों के दाएं हाथ के समकक्षों की तुलना में बेहतर मौखिक कौशल होने की संभावना है।
• इस दिन को पहली बार 1976 में लेफ्टहैंडर्स इंटरनेशनल इंक के संस्थापक डीन आर कैंपबेल द्वारा मनाया गया था। इसके अलावा, 1990 में, लेफ्टहैंडर्स इंटरनेशनल क्लब की स्थापना बाएं-हाथ को बढ़ावा देने के उद्देश्य से की गई थी, और विकास के प्रति निर्माताओं को उनके विचारों से अवगत कराया।

जुलाई 2021 में खुदरा मुद्रास्फीति कम होकर 5.59% पर आ गई

• मुख्य रूप से खाद्य कीमतों में नरमी के कारण जुलाई में खुदरा मुद्रास्फीति कम होकर 5.59% पर आ गई। उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक (CPI) आधारित मुद्रास्फीति जून में 6.26% और जुलाई 2020 में 6.73% थी। खाद्य टोकरी में मुद्रास्फीति जुलाई में घटकर 3.96% हो गई, जो पिछले महीने में 5.15% थी।
• इस महीने की शुरुआत में, आरबीआई ने 2021-22 के दौरान सीपीआई मुद्रास्फीति को 5.7% पर - दूसरी तिमाही में 5.9%, तीसरी तिमाही में 5.3% और वित्त वर्ष की चौथी तिमाही में 5.8% जोखिम के साथ व्यापक रूप से संतुलित किया।

India’s first ‘Water Plus’ certified city is MP’s Indore

• India’s cleanest city, Indore in Madhya Pradesh, has achieved another feat of being declared as the country’s first ‘water plus’ certified city, under the Swachh Survekshan 2021. Swachh Survekshan is an annual survey of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in cities and towns across India launched as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
• Indore carried out a survey and halted 7,000 outfalls of greywater that went in rivers, drains.
• Moreover, 30 per cent of the city’s sewage water was recycled and reused. This recycled water was used by people in their gardens and some construction sites.

 India organises the IBSA Tourism Ministers’ Meet on virtual platform

• India organized the IBSA (India, Brazil and South Africa) Tourism Ministers’ meeting through the virtual platform. The Union Minister of Tourism of India, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, chaired the meeting. The Minister of Tourism of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Gilson Machado Neto and the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Republic of South Africa, Fish Amos Mahlalela, attended videoconferencing under India’s IBSA Chairship.
• The meeting provided a platform to promote tourism cooperation among the member states and recognized the importance of strengthening cooperation in tourism to overcome the impact of the C-19 pandemic on the tourism sector.
• The meeting ended with the adoption of the IBSA Tourism Ministers Joint Statement- a document on cooperation and promotion for the speedy recovery of travel and tourism.

NS Tomar addressed 6th SCO Meet of Agriculture Ministers of the member countries

• The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar has addressed the 6th meeting of Agriculture Ministers of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), through videoconferencing. The meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Tajikistan in Dushanbe.
• During the meeting, Narendra Singh Tomar highlighted the taking several steps being taken by the Government of India to develop innovative technologies and their dissemination from Lab to Land to empower rural youth, farmers and farm women.
• Apart from Tomar, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje also attended the meet.

Unmukt Chand World Cup winning U19 Indian captain announced retirement in India

• World Cup-winning U19 India captain, Unmukt Chand has announced his retirement from cricket in India. He had made an unbeaten 111, leading a tense victory over Australia in the 2012 U-19 World Cup final in Townsville, Australia. The 28-year-old, who also led India A as well as Delhi and Uttarakhand in domestic cricket, had represented Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
• Since his debut in 2010, Chand played in 67 First-Class matches, scoring 3379 runs with an average of 31.57. In 120 List A matches, Chand amassed 4505 runs at an average of 41.33. In 77 T20s, he made 1565 runs at an average of 22.35.

Shakib Al Hasan, Stafanie Taylor voted ICC players of the month for the month of July

• Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor were named the ICC Player of the Month for July in men’s and women’s categories respectively. Shakib, who was nominated alongside West Indies’ Hayden Walsh Jr and Australia’s Mitchell Marsh.

Shakib Al Hasan:

• Shakib’s contributions in all three formats of the game helped Bangladesh win their series against Zimbabwe last month. He had scored an unbeaten 96 in Bangladesh’s three-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the second ODI at the Harare Sports Club.

Stafanie Taylor

• Taylor was the standout performer for West Indies in the limited-overs series against Pakistan.

Durand Cup, Asia’s oldest and world’s third oldest football tournament re-entry with 130th edition to be held at Kolkata

• Durand Cup, Asia’s oldest and world’s third oldest football tournament, is all set to make a comeback, after a year’s gap. The 130th edition of the Durand Cup is scheduled to be held in and around Kolkata between September 05 to October 03, 2021. Due to the C-19 pandemic, the competition was cancelled last season.
• The prestigious tournament was first held in 1888, at Dagshai (Himachal Pradesh) and is named after Mortimer Durand, who was then the Foreign Secretary in charge of India.
• The tournament was a conscious way to initially maintain health and fitness amongst the British troops but was later opened to civilians and currently is one of the leading sports events in the world.
• Mohun Bagan and East Bengal are the most successful teams in the history of the Durand Cup winning it sixteen times each.

World Organ Donation Day 2021: 13th August

• World Organ Donation Day is celebrated every year on August 13. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and motivate people to donate organs after death. The day provides an opportunity to all to come ahead and pledge to donate their precious organs because one organ donor can save up to eight lives.
• Organ donation is retrieving a donor’s organ like heart, liver, kidneys, intestines, lungs, and pancreas after the donor is deceased and then transplanting into another person who is in need of an organ.

 International Lefthanders Day 2021: 13th August

• The International Left-Handers Day is observed on August 13 every year to celebrate the uniqueness and differences of the left-handers and raise awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of being left-handed in a predominantly right-handed world. Left-handers are likely to have better verbal skills than their right-handed counterparts, according to a 2019 study by Oxford University.
• The day was first observed in 1976 by Dean R Campbell, the founder of Lefthanders International Inc. Further, in 1990, the Lefthanders International Club was founded with an aim to promote left-handedness, and make their views known to manufacturers towards the development of items for left-handed individuals. In 1992, the Club launched the International Lefthanders Day to create awareness regarding the “advantages and disadvantages of being left-handed.”

Retail inflation easesd to 5.59% in July 2021

• Retail inflation eased to 5.59% in July mainly due to softening of food prices. The Consumer Price Index (CPI)-based inflation was 6.26% in June and 6.73% in July 2020. Inflation in the food basket slowed down to 3.96% in July from 5.15% in the previous month.
• Earlier this month, the RBI pegged the CPI inflation at 5.7% during 2021-22 — 5.9% in the second quarter, 5.3% in third, and 5.8% in the fourth quarter of the fiscal, with risks broadly balanced.
