• विश्व खाद्य कार्यक्रम (UN-WFP) के लिए सद्भावना राजदूत नामित किया गया है। वह डब्ल्यूएफपी के जीरो हंगर वाली विश्‍व के मिशन में शामिल हो गए हैं। सद्भावना राजदूत के रूप में, वह भूख के मुख्य चालकों के बारे में सूचित करेंगे और भूख के मूल कारणों और तत्काल जरूरतों से निपटने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र डब्ल्यूएफपी के प्रयासों का प्रदर्शन करेंगे।

आईआरसीटीसी ने भद्राचलम को रामायण सर्किट यात्रा कार्यक्रम में जोड़ा

• तेलंगाना में भद्राचलम को आईआरसीटीसी की रामायण सर्किट ट्रेन ने तीर्थयात्री स्पेशल ट्रेन के रामायण सर्किट में भद्राचलम को एक गंतव्य के रूप में शामिल करने के लिए प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी का आभार व्यक्त किया है। भद्राचलम श्री सीता रामचंद्र स्वामी मंदिर का घर है।
• रामायण यात्रा ट्रेन का उद्देश्य भगवान राम की उनके जीवनकाल में यात्रा के सभी महत्वपूर्ण स्थानों को जोड़ना है, भद्राचलम रोड स्टेशन को शामिल करने से रामायण सर्किट पूरा हो जाएगा।

INS वेला, भारत की चौथी स्कॉर्पीन श्रेणी की पनडुब्बी, भारतीय नौसेना को दी गई

• भारतीय नौसेना को प्रोजेक्ट -75, यार्ड 11878 की चौथी स्कॉर्पियन पनडुब्बी मिल गई है जिसे आईएनएस (भारतीय नौसेना जहाज) वेला के रूप में चालू किया जाएगा। प्रोजेक्ट-75 में मैसर्स नेवल ग्रुप, फ्रांस के सहयोग से मझगांव डॉक शिपबिल्डर्स लिमिटेड (MDL) मुंबई (महाराष्ट्र) द्वारा स्कॉर्पियन डिजाइन की छह पनडुब्बियों का निर्माण शामिल है। वर्तमान में, प्रोजेक्ट -75 के तहत तीन पनडुब्बियां भारतीय नौसेना के साथ काम कर रही हैं, जैसे आईएनएस करंज, आईएनएस कलवरी और आईएनएस खंडेरी।
• जब दुश्मन से निपटने की बात आती है तो आईएनएस वेला को उन्नत स्टील्थ और लड़ाकू क्षमताओं के लिए जाना जाता है।

महिला क्रिकेट 2022 के राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में अपनी शुरुआत करेगी

• बर्मिंघम 2022 राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के पहले मैचों की घोषणा कर दी गई है। महिला क्रिकेट टी20 फॉर्मेट के साथ कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स में डेब्यू कर रही है। पिछली बार क्रिकेट बहु-खेल शोपीस में खेला गया था जो कुआलालंपुर में 1998 के संस्करण में था। महिला क्रिकेट टी20 प्रतियोगिता 29 जुलाई से एजबेस्टन स्टेडियम में होगी, जिसमें कांस्य और स्वर्ण पदक के मैच 7 अगस्त को होंगे।
• भारत का पहला मैच ऑस्ट्रेलिया से होगा जब महिला क्रिकेट 2022 राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में 29 जुलाई को पदार्पण करेगी जबकि फाइनल 7 अगस्त को खेला जाएगा। शुरुआती सत्र में भारत, जिसमें पाकिस्तान और बारबाडोस खेल रहा है, जिसे हाल ही में वेस्टइंडीज की टीम के रूप में पुष्टि की गई थी जो राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में भाग लेगी।

संसदीय वोट में किशिदा फिर चुने गए जापान के प्रधानमंत्री

• लिबरल डेमोक्रेटिक पार्टी (LDP) के नेता फुमियो किशिदा को एक बार फिर से जापान के प्रधान मंत्री के रूप में चुना गया है। वर्ष 2021 के संसदीय चुनाव में एलडीपी की जीत के बाद उन्हें जापान के प्रधान मंत्री बनाया गया है। फुमियो किशिदा ने योशिहिडे सुगा का स्थान लिया है, जिन्होंने सितंबर 2021 में जापान के प्रधान मंत्री पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया था।
• फुमियो किशिदा को महज एक महीने पहले ही जापान की संसद ने प्रधानमंत्री चुना था। पीएम चुने जाने के बाद ही फुमियो किशिदा ने चुनाव करवाने का निर्णय लिया, जिसमें उनकी पार्टी ने 465 सदस्यों वाले निचले सदन में 261 सीटें जीत लीं।

एसएन प्रधान को अगस्त 2024 तक NCB प्रमुख नियुक्त किया गया

• सत्य नारायण प्रधान को नारकोटिक्स कंट्रोल ब्यूरो (NCB) के महानिदेशक (डीजी) के रूप में 31 अगस्त 2024 को उनकी सेवानिवृत्ति की तारीख तक या अगले आदेश तक प्रतिनियुक्ति पर नियुक्त किया गया है। वह NDRF के DG के रूप में जिम्मेदारियों के अलावा NCB के DG के रूप में अतिरिक्त प्रभार संभाल रहे थे। उन्होंने राकेश अस्थाना के स्थान पर NCB के DG के रूप में अतिरिक्त कार्यभार संभाला, जिन्हें दिल्ली पुलिस आयुक्त के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया था।

• विश्व हिंदू परिषद (VHP) के पूर्व उपाध्यक्ष आनंद शंकर पांड्या का निधन हो गया है। उनकी उम्र 99 वर्ष से अधिक थी। वह एक विपुल लेखक और सार्वजनिक बुद्धिजीवी थे जिन्होंने इतिहास, सार्वजनिक नीति और आध्यात्मिकता पर विस्तार से लिखा है। वे VHP में सक्रिय थे और निस्वार्थ भाव से समाज सेवा के लिए काम करते थे।

Daniel Brühl Appointed as Goodwill Ambassador of UN-World Food Programme

• Spanish-German Actor Daniel Brühl has been named the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme (UN-WFP). He has joined the WFP’s mission to reach a world with Zero Hunger. As the goodwill ambassador, he will inform about the main drivers of hunger and showcase the efforts of UN WFP to tackle both immediate needs and root causes of hunger.
• In his role as a Goodwill Ambassador, Bruhl will raise awareness for the millions of people going to bed hungry every night and engage his supporters in advocacy for a Zero Hunger world. The 43-year-old actor will also use his platforms to inform his supporters about the main drivers of hunger and to showcase WFP’s efforts to tackle both immediate needs and root causes of hunger.

Union Minister Hardeep Puri  Unveiled the statue of Rani Lakshmi Bai at the Maharani Lakshmi Bai college for Women, Bhiwani Rohilla in Hisar (Haryana)

• Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs & Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep S. Puri has unveiled the statue of Rani Lakshmi Bai at the Maharani Lakshmi Bai college for Women, Bhiwani Rohilla in Hisar (Haryana) through video conferencing. Describing Rani Lakshmi Bai as a major symbol of revolt against the repression of the British Raj, the Minister said that her life has been inspiring nationalism and Indian women for generations who led the freedom revolution of India with the utmost bravery, skill and force against British rule.

IRCTC Adds Bhadrachalam in Ramayana Circuit Itinerary

• Bhadrachalam in Telangana has been added as a destination in the IRCTC’s Ramayana Circuit train. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism G. Kishan Reddy has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inclusion of Bhadarchalam as one of the destinations in the Ramayana Circuit of the Pilgrim Special Train. Bhadrachalam is home to Sree Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple.
• The aim of the Ramayana Yatra Train is to connect all the important locations of Lord Rama’s journey during his lifetime, the inclusion of Bhadrachalam Road Station will complete the Ramayana Circuit.

INS Vela, India’s fourth Scorpene-class submarine, delivered to Indian Navy

• 4th Scorpene submarine of the Project-75, Yard 11878 was delivered to the Indian Navy which will be commissioned as INS (Indian Naval Ship) Vela. Project-75 includes the construction of six submarines of Scorpene design by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) Mumbai (Maharashtra) in collaboration with M/s Naval Group, France. Currently, three submarines under Project-75 are functional with the Indian Navy viz. INS Karanj, INS Kalvari, and INS Khanderi.
• INS Vela is known to have advanced stealth and combat capabilities when it comes to engaging with the enemy.

SPORTS

Women’s cricket to make its debut in 2022 Commonwealth Games

• The first matches for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games have been announced. Women’s cricket is making its debut at the Commonwealth Games with the T20 format. The last time cricket was played in the multi-sporting showpiece was in the 1998 edition in Kuala Lumpur. The women’s cricket T20 competition will be held at the Edgbaston Stadium from the 29 July, with the bronze and gold medal matches taking place on 7 August.
• India will face Australia in the opening match when women’s cricket makes its debut at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on July 29 while the final will be played on August 7. India in the early session, with Pakistan playing Barbados, who was recently confirmed as the team from the West Indies that will take part in the Commonwealth Games.
• Hosts England will be in action for the first time on July 30, when they will take on the winner of a qualifying tournament which is due to take place at the start of 2022. They will then play South Africa in the early session on August 2, followed by a third match against New Zealand in the evening session on August 4.

Kishida reelected Japan's prime minister in parliamentary vote

• Fumio Kishida, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has been re-elected as the Prime Minister (PM) of Japan following the victory of the LDP in the 2021 Parliament election. Fumio Kishida succeeded Yoshihide Suga who resigned as PM of Japan in September 2021.
• Elected just over a month ago by parliament, Kishida called a quick election in which his governing party secured 261 seats in the 465-member lower house — the more powerful of Japan’s two-chamber legislature — enough to maintain a free hand in pushing legislation through parliament.

SN Pradhan appointed as NCB chief till August 2024

• Satya Narayan Pradhan has been appointed as the Director-General (DG) of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on a deputation till the date of his superannuation on 31st August 2024 or until further orders. He was holding the additional charge as the DG of NCB in addition to the responsibilities as the DG of NDRF. He took the additional charge as the DG of NCB succeeding Rakesh Asthana who was appointed as Delhi Police Commissioner.

Renowned author Anand Shankar Pandya passes away at 99

• Former Vice President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Anand Shankar Pandya has passed away. He was over 99 years old. He was a prolific author and public intellectual who wrote extensively on history, public policy and spirituality. He was active in the VHP and worked selflessly towards social service.
