चौथे सबसे बड़े विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार धारक के रूप में भारत ने की रूस के साथ साझेदारी

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के आंकड़ों के अनुसार, भारत का विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार पहली बार 600 बिलियन डॉलर का आंकड़ा पार कर गया है। 04 जून, 2021 को समाप्त सप्ताह में भारत का विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार 6.842 बिलियन अमरीकी डॉलर बढ़कर 605.008 बिलियन डॉलर हो गया।
• यह भारत की विदेशी संपत्ति का अब तक का उच्चतम स्तर है। इसके साथ ही भारत रूस के साथ दुनिया का चौथा सबसे बड़ा रिजर्व होल्डर बन गया है। रूस का विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार 605.2 बिलियन डॉलर आंका गया है।

केंद्रीय शिक्षा मंत्री के द्वारा जारी की गई AISHE 2019-20 रिपोर्ट

• केंद्रीय शिक्षा मंत्री रमेश पोखरियाल 'निशंक' ने अखिल भारतीय उच्च शिक्षा सर्वेक्षण (AISHE-All India Survey on Higher Education) 2019-20 की रिपोर्ट जारी की है। इस रिपोर्ट के अनुसार पिछले पांच वर्षों (2015-16 से 2019-20) में छात्रों के नामांकन में 11.4% की वृद्धि हुई है और 2015-16 से 2019-20 तक उच्च शिक्षा में महिला नामांकन में 18.2 फीसदी की वृद्धि हुई है।
• AISHE 2019-20 उच्च शिक्षा पर अखिल भारतीय सर्वेक्षण की श्रृंखला का 10वां संस्करण है। उच्च शिक्षा विभाग द्वारा इसे प्रतिवर्ष जारी किया जाता है।

यूरोपीय अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी 2030 में शुक्र के लिए 'EnVision' मिशन लॉन्च करेगी

• यूरोपीय अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी (ESA), अब शुक्र (Venus) का अध्ययन करने के लिए अपनी जांच विकसित कर रही है, ताकि ग्रह के आंतरिक कोर से ऊपरी वायुमंडल तक के समग्र दृश्य को देखा जा सके। "EnVision" के रूप में डब किया गया मिशन संभवतः 2030 की शुरुआत में ग्रह पर लॉन्च किया जाएगा।
• ESA की EnVision जांच यह निर्धारित करेगी कि सूर्य के रहने योग्य क्षेत्र में रहते हुए भी शुक्र और पृथ्वी इतने अलग तरीके से कैसे और क्यों विकसित हुए।
• ESA नासा के योगदान से इस मिशन को अंजाम देगा।
• EnVision अंतरिक्ष यान ग्रह के वायुमंडल और सतह का अध्ययन करने, वातावरण में ट्रेस गैसों की निगरानी करने और इसकी सतह संरचना का विश्लेषण करने के लिए कई प्रकार के उपकरणों को ले जाएगा। नासा छवि और सतह का नक्शा बनाने के लिए एक रडार प्रदान करेगा।

आयुष मंत्रालय ने 'नमस्ते योग' ऐप लॉन्च किया

• आयुष मंत्रालय ने 7वें अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस के लिए एक शुरुआती कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया। यह कार्यक्रम आयुष मंत्रालय द्वारा मोरारजी देसाई राष्ट्रीय योग संस्थान (MDNIY) के सहयोग से आयोजित किया गया था। इस कार्यक्रम ने कई योग गुरुओं और अनुभवी योग प्रतिपादकों को वर्चुअल मंच पर एक साथ लाया, ताकि विश्व समुदाय से व्यक्तिगत स्वयं और मानव जाति दोनों की बेहतरी के लिए योग को अपने दैनिक जीवन में अपनाने की अपील की जा सके।
• इस कार्यक्रम ने IDY 2021 के केंद्रीय विषय "Be With Yoga, Be At Home" के महत्व को रेखांकित किया। कार्यक्रम के एक भाग के रूप में, "नमस्ते योग (Namaste Yoga)" नामक योग को समर्पित एक मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन भी लॉन्च किया गया है। नमस्ते योग ऐप को जनता के लिए एक सूचना मंच के रूप में डिजाइन किया गया है, जिसका उद्देश्य योग के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाना और इसे बड़े समुदाय के लिए सुलभ बनाना है

पटियाला करेगा इंडियन ग्रांड प्रिक्स 4 की मेजबानी

• भारतीय एथलेटिक्स महासंघ (AFI) ने घोषणा की कि Indian Grand Prix 4 का आयोजन 21 जून को राष्ट्रीय खेल संस्थान, पटियाला, पंजाब में किया जाएगा। भारतीय एथलीटों को टोक्यो के लिए क्वालीफाई करने का अधिकतम मौका देने के लिए घरेलू आयोजनों की मेजबानी करने का निर्णय किया गया था।
• भारत की स्टार स्प्रिंटर्स दुती चंद और हिमा दास के 2021 के चौथे भारतीय जीपी में भाग लेने की उम्मीद है। राष्ट्रीय अंतर-राज्य एथलेटिक्स चैंपियनशिप 25 जून से उसी स्थान पर आयोजित की जाएगी।

प्रसिद्ध अर्थशास्त्री और पर्यावरणविद पद्मश्री प्रोफेसर राधामोहन जी का निधन

• पद्मश्री से सम्मानित प्रसिद्ध अर्थशास्त्री और पर्यावरणविद, प्रोफेसर राधामोहन जी का ओडिशा के भुवनेश्वर में निधन हो गया है।
• वह ओडिशा के पूर्व सूचना आयुक्त थे और उन्होंने ओडिशा के विभिन्न कॉलेजों में अर्थशास्त्र के व्याख्याता के रूप में भी काम किया था। उन्हें अपनी बेटी साबरमती के साथ कृषि क्षेत्र में उनके योगदान के लिए 2020 में देश के चौथे सर्वोच्च नागरिक सम्मान पद्म श्री से सम्मानित किया गया।

भारत के नागराज अडिगा को इंटरनेशनल एसोसिएशन ऑफ अल्ट्रारनर काउंसिल में एशिया-ओशिनिया प्रतिनिधि चुना गया

• भारत के नागराज अडिगा को हाल ही में संपन्न 2021 इंटरनेशनल एसोसिएशन ऑफ अल्ट्रारनर (IAU) काउंसिल में, जिसमें IAU परिषद चुनाव हुए थे, एशिया-ओशिनिया प्रतिनिधि के रूप में चुना गया है।
• अडिगा स्वास्थ्य, फिटनेस को बढ़ावा देने और उभरते खिलाड़ियों को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए एथलेटिक्स फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया और विभिन्न सरकारी निकायों के साथ मिलकर काम कर रहे हैं।

रेबेका ग्रिन्स्पन बनी UNCTAD की महासचिव

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने व्यापार और विकास पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र सम्मेलन (UNCTAD) के महासचिव के रूप में कोस्टा रिकान की अर्थशास्त्री रेबेका ग्रिन्स्पन (Rebecca Grynspan) की नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दे दी है। वह चार साल के लिए पद ग्रहण करेंगी। वह UNCTAD की अध्यक्षता करने वाली पहली महिला और मध्य अमेरिकी हैं। उन्हें संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव एंटोनियो गुटेरेस द्वारा महासचिव के रूप में नामित किया गया था।
• ग्रिन्स्पन, इसाबेल ड्यूरेंट (Isabelle Durant) की जगह लेंगी, जो 15 फरवरी 2021 से कार्यवाहक महासचिव के रूप में कार्यरत हैं। इससे पहले, ग्रिन्स्पन ने लैटिन अमेरिका और कैरिबियन के लिए UNDP के क्षेत्रीय निदेशक और 1994 से 1998 तक कोस्टा रिका के दूसरे उपाध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्य किया।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय एल्बिनिज़्म जागरूकता दिवस: 13 जून

• अंतरराष्ट्रीय एल्बिनिज़्म जागरूकता दिवस (International Albinism Awareness Day - IAAD) विश्‍व भर में एल्बिनिज़्म से पीड़ित व्यक्तियों के मानवाधिकारों का जश्न मनाने के लिए 13 जून को प्रतिवर्ष मनाया जाता है। हर साल लोगों को शिक्षित करने और ऐल्बिनिज़म से पीड़ित लोगों, जो सभी प्रकार के मानवाधिकारों के उल्लंघन का शिकार होते रहते हैं, उनके लिए जश्न मनाने के लिए कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाते हैं।
• इस वर्ष के अंतर्राष्ट्रीय एल्बिनिज़्म जागरूकता दिवस का विषय "स्ट्रेंथ बियॉन्ड ऑल ऑड्स (Strength Beyond All Odds)" है।
• साल 2000 के मध्य में, तंजानिया में एल्बिनिज़्म के शिकार लोगों पर किए जा रहे हिंसक हमलों और हत्याओं की खबरें सामने आई थीं। इन हमलों का कारण जादूई शक्ति को बताया गया और कहा जाता रहा है कि एल्बिनिज़्म से पीड़ित लोगों के पास जादुई शक्तियां होती है, इसलिए उन्हें लकी चार्म और गुप्त अनुष्ठानों में उपयोग के लिए अंगों के लिए शिकार किया गया था।

INTERNATIONAL

India ties with Russia as 4th largest forex reserves holder

• As per Reserve Bank of India’s data, the foreign exchange reserves of India has crossed $600 billion marks for the first time. The Forex reserve of India increased by USD 6.842 billion to $605.008 billion in the week ended June 04, 2021.
• This is the lifetime high of India’s foreign asset. With this, India has tied with Russia as the fourth largest reserve holder in the world. The forex reserve of Russia is calculated to be $605.2 billion.

NATIONAL

AISHE 2019-20 report released by Union Education Minister

• All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2019-20 report has been released by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. As per AISHE in the last five years (2015-16 to 2019-20), student enrolment has grown by 11.4%. As per AISHE, female enrolment in Higher Education has increased by 18.2% from 2015-16 to 2019-20. AISHE 2019-20 is the 10 in the series of All India Survey on Higher Education. Department of Higher Education releases it annually.
• Total Enrolment in Higher Education: It stands at 3.85 crores in 2019-20.
• Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER): It is denied as the percentage of students belonging to the eligible age group enrolled in Higher Education. It is 27.1% in 2019-20.
• Gender Parity Index (GPI) in Higher Education: It stands at 1.01 in 2019-20. It shows improvement in the relative access to higher education for females of eligible age group compared to males.

European Space Agency to Launch ‘EnVision’ Mission to Venus in 2030

• European Space Agency (ESA), is now developing its own probe to study Venus, for holistic view of planet from its inner core to upper atmosphere. The mission dubbed as “EnVision” will probably be launched to the planet in early 2030.
• EnVision probe of ESA will determine how and why Venus and Earth evolved so differently, even while being in the habitable zone to the Sun.
• ESA will undertake this mission with contributions from NASA.
• EnVision spacecraft will carry a range of instruments to study the planet’s atmosphere and surface, monitor trace gases in the atmosphere and analyse its surface composition. NASA would provide a radar to image and map the surface.

Ministry of Ayush Launches ‘Namaste Yoga’ App

• The Ministry of Ayush organised a curtain raiser event for the 7th International Day of Yoga. The event was organised by the Ministry of Ayush in association with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY). The event brought together several Yoga Gurus and experienced Yoga exponents on the virtual platform, to appeal to the world community to adopt Yoga in their daily life for the betterment of both the individual self and mankind.
• The event underlined the importance of the central theme of IDY 2021 “Be With Yoga, Be At Home”. As a part of the event, a mobile application devoted to Yoga named “Namaste Yoga”, was also launched. The Namaste Yoga” app has been designed as an information platform for the public, with the aim to raise awareness about yoga and make it accessible for the larger community.

Patiala to host Indian Grand Prix 4

• The Athletics Federation of India (AFI), announced that the Indian Grand Prix 4 will be held on June 21 at the National Institute of Sports in Patiala. The decision to host the domestic events was made to give Indian athletes the maximum chance to qualify for Tokyo.
• India’s star sprinters Dutee Chand & Hima Das are expected to participate in the fourth Indian GP of 2021. National Inter-State Athletics Championships will be held at the same venue from June 25.

OBITUARY

Padma Shri Awardee Eminent Environmentalist Radhamohan Passes Away

• Padma Shri winning noted Economist and Environmentalist, Prof Radhamohan Ji has passed away.
• He was the former information commissioner of Odisha and had also served as a lecturer of Economics in different colleges in Odisha. He along with his daughter Sabarmatee were conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 2020 for their contribution to the agriculture sector.

APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS

India’s Nagraj Adiga elected in International Association of Ultrarunners Council

• India’s Nagraj Adiga has been elected as the Asia-Oceania Representative at the recently concluded 2021 International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) Congress at which the IAU council elections were held.
• Adiga works closely with the Athletics Federation of India and with various Government bodies to promote health, fitness, and encourage budding sportspersons.

Rebeca Grynspan appointed as Secretary-General of UNCTAD

• The U.N. General Assembly has approved the appointment of Costa Rican economist Rebecca Grynspan, as the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). She will serve a four-year term of office. She is the first woman and Central American to head UNCTAD. She was nominated as Secretary-General by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
• Grynspan would replace Isabelle Durant, who is serving as acting Secretary-General since 15 February 2021. Prior to this, Grynspan served as UNDP’s regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean and second vice president of Costa Rica from 1994 to 1998.

International Albinism Awareness Day: 13 June

• The International Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD) is celebrated annually on June 13 to celebrate the human rights of persons with albinism worldwide. Each year events are held to educate people and celebrate people with albinism who continue to suffer all types of human rights violations.
• “Strength Beyond All Odds” is the theme for this year’s International Albinism Awareness Day.
• In the mid-2000s, there had been reports of violent attacks on and murders of people with albinism in Tanzania. The attacks were linked to beliefs that people with albinism had magical powers, so they were preyed upon for parts to be used as lucky charms and in occult rituals.
