तमिलनाडु की 'कन्याकुमारी लौंग' को भौगोलिक संकेत (जीआई) से सम्मानित किया गया

• तमिलनाडु में कन्याकुमारी जिले की पहाड़ियों में उगाए जाने वाले अनोखे लौंग के मसाले को 'कन्याकुमारी लौंग के रूप में भौगोलिक संकेत (जीआई) से सम्मानित किया गया है। भारत में लौंग का कुल उत्पादन 1,100 मीट्रिक टन है और इसमें से 1,000 मीट्रिक टन प्रतिवर्ष तमिलनाडु में पैदा होता है जबकि 750 मीट्रिक टन लौंग का उत्पादन अकेले कन्याकुमारी जिले में होता है।
• इसके अलावा, पारंपरिक डाई-पेंटेड आलंकारिक और पैटर्न वाले कपड़े को करुप्पुर कलमकारी पेंटिंग कहा जाता है और तमिलनाडु से कल्लाकुरिची की लकड़ी की नक्काशी को भी जीआई टैग प्राप्त हुआ है।

 2021 वैश्विक बहुआयामी गरीबी सूचकांक (MPI)

• 2021 बहुआयामी गरीबी सूचकांक (MPI) रिपोर्ट UNDP और ऑक्सफोर्ड गरीबी और मानव विकास पहल (OPHI) द्वारा संयुक्त रूप से जारी की गई थी।
• रिपोर्ट 109 विकासशील देशों में बहुआयामी गरीबी पर अनुमान प्रदान करती है (2009-2019/2020 के सर्वेक्षणों के आंकड़ों के साथ); इनमें 26 कम आय वाले देश, 80 मध्यम आय वाले देश और 3 उच्च आय वाले देश शामिल हैं। सूचकांक तीन समान भारित आयामों में विभाजित 10 संकेतकों में प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के अभाव को मापता है।

 प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने वीडियो-कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से (ISpA) लॉन्च किया

• प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने वीडियोकांफ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से भारतीय अंतरिक्ष संघ (ISpA) का शुभारंभ किया। इसके संस्थापक सदस्यों में भारती एयरटेल, लार्सन एंड टूब्रो, नेल्को (टाटा ग्रुप), वनवेब, मैपमायइंडिया, वालचंदनगर इंडस्ट्रीज और अनंत टेक्नोलॉजी लिमिटेड शामिल हैं। अन्य मुख्य सदस्यों में गोदरेज, ह्यूजेस इंडिया, अज़िस्ता-बीएसटी एयरोस्पेस प्राइवेट लिमिटेड, बीईएल, सेंटम इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और मैक्सर इंडिया शामिल हैं।

 भारतीय रेलवे ने दो लंबी दूरी की मालगाड़ियां 'त्रिशूल', 'गरुड़' शुरू की

• भारतीय रेलवे ने दो लंबी दूरी की मालगाड़ियाँ "त्रिशूल " और "गरुड़" शुरू की हैं - जो मालगाड़ियों की सामान्य संरचना से दोगुनी या कई गुना लंबी हैं। ये लंबी ट्रेनें महत्वपूर्ण वर्गों में क्षमता की कमी की समस्या का बहुत प्रभावी समाधान प्रदान करेंगी । ये ट्रेनें मालगाड़ियों की सामान्य संरचना की तुलना में दोगुनी या कई गुना लंबी हैं और महत्वपूर्ण वर्गों में माल की ढुलाई होने से क्षमता की कमी का समाधान होता है ।
• त्रिशूल दक्षिण मध्य रेलवे (एससीआर) की पहली लंबी दौड़ वाली ट्रेन है और इसमें 177 वैगन, या तीन मालगाड़ियों के बराबर हैं। इसे विजयवाड़ा डिवीजन के कोंडापल्ली स्टेशन से ईस्ट कोस्ट रेलवे के खुर्दा डिवीजन तक लॉन्च किया गया।
• ट्रेन 'गरुड़' को गुंतकल मंडल के रायचूर से सिकंदराबाद मंडल के मनुगुरु के लिए रवाना किया गया । लंबी दूरी की दोनों ट्रेनों में खाली खुले डिब्बे थे जिनका इस्तेमाल मुख्य रूप से थर्मल पावर स्टेशनों के लिए कोयले को लोड करने के लिए किया जाता है।

 केंद्रीय मंत्री ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया ने दून ड्रोन मेले को झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया

• केंद्रीय नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्री, ज्योतिरादित्य एम सिंधिया ने देहरादून, उत्तराखंड में दून ड्रोन मेला 2021 को हरी झंडी दिखाई। मंत्री ने पैराग्लाइडिंग प्रदर्शन के साथ कार्यक्रम को हरी झंडी दिखाई और दून ड्रोन मेले में अपने प्रोटोटाइप का प्रदर्शन करने वाली ड्रोन कंपनियों के साथ भी बातचीत की। यह दिन ड्रोन और एरोस्पोर्ट्स प्रदर्शनों के प्रदर्शन को चिह्नित करता है जिसमें सीमा सुरक्षा बल द्वारा पैराग्लाइडिंग प्रदर्शन, हर्ष सचान द्वारा पैरामोटर प्रदर्शन और आईओटेकवर्ल्ड एविएशन एंड दक्ष द्वारा एक कृषि छिड़काव ड्रोन प्रदर्शन शामिल है।
• इसके अलावा, इस कार्यक्रम में ड्रोन एप्लिकेशन एंड रिसर्च सेंटर (DARC) और राज्य आपदा प्रतिक्रिया बल (SDRF) द्वारा स्वदेशी रूप से 3 डी-मुद्रित ड्रोन के साथ एक आपातकालीन खोज और प्रतिक्रिया ड्रोन प्रदर्शन भी शामिल था। इसके बाद SVAMITVA योजना के तहत आरव मानवरहित प्रणाली (AUS) द्वारा एक संक्षिप्त सर्वेक्षण ड्रोन प्रदर्शन के साथ-साथ स्क्वाड्रन लीडर वर्षा कुकरेती (सेवानिवृत्त) द्वारा एक प्रशिक्षण ड्रोन प्रदर्शन किया गया।

 नियुक्ति एवं इस्‍तीफे

राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद ने देश के आठ उच्च न्यायालयों में मुख्य न्यायाधीशों की नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दी

• सरकार ने उच्च न्यायालयों के आठ मुख्य न्यायाधीशों की नियुक्ति और पांच मुख्य न्यायाधीशों के स्थानांतरण को अधिसूचित किया। आठ उच्च न्यायालयों को नए मुख्य न्यायाधीश मिलेंगे, और पांच मुख्य न्यायाधीशों का तबादला कर दिया गया है। 13 उच्च न्यायालयों में मंजूरी को महत्वपूर्ण माना गया क्योंकि उनमें से कुछ कार्यवाहक मुख्य न्यायाधीशों के साथ काम कर रहे हैं।

निम्‍न पांच मुख्य न्यायाधीशों का तबादला:

• सरकार ने त्रिपुरा उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश ए.ए. कुरैशी को राजस्थान उच्च न्यायालय स्थानांतरित किया गया है।
• राजस्थान उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति इंद्रजीत महंती त्रिपुरा के मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में कार्यभार संभालेंगे।
• मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्य न्यायाधीश मोहम्मद रफीक को हिमाचल प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय का मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया है।
• मेघालय उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश बिस्वनाथ सोमद्दर को सिक्किम उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में स्थानांतरित किया गया है।
• न्यायमूर्ति ए.के. गोस्वामी को छत्तीसगढ़ उच्च न्यायालय का मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया है। वह वर्तमान में आंध्र प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश हैं।

आठ नवनियुक्त मुख्य न्यायाधीश:

• कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय के कार्यवाहक मुख्य न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति राजेश बिंदल को इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय का मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया।
• न्यायमूर्ति रंजीत वी. मोरे को मेघालय उच्च न्यायालय का मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया है।
• कर्नाटक उच्च न्यायालय के कार्यवाहक मुख्य न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति सतीश चंद्र शर्मा को तेलंगाना उच्च न्यायालय का मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया है।
• मध्य प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति प्रकाश श्रीवास्तव को कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय का मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया है।
• न्यायमूर्ति आर.वी. मलीमठ को मध्य प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय का मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया है।
• न्यायमूर्ति रितु राज अवस्थी को कर्नाटक उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।
• न्यायमूर्ति अरविंद कुमार को गुजरात उच्च न्यायालय का मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया है।

प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता नेदुमुदी वेणु का निधन हो गया

• राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार विजेता अभिनेता नेदुमुदी वेणु का निधन हो गया है। उन्होंने अपने प्रदर्शन के लिए तीन राष्ट्रीय फिल्म पुरस्कार और छह केरल राज्य फिल्म पुरस्कार जीते। नेदुमुदी वेणु ने कवलम नारायण पनिकर के नाटकों के साथ एक थिएटर कलाकार के रूप में अपना करियर शुरू किया।
• उन्होंने 1978 में जी अरविंदन द्वारा निर्देशित थंबू के साथ फिल्मों में अपनी शुरुआत की। मलयालम और तमिल फिल्मों में अपने काम के लिए जाने जाने वाले वेणु ने 500 से अधिक फिल्मों में अभिनय किया।

तेलुगु फिल्म निर्माता बी गोपाल को सत्यजीत रे पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया

• जाने-माने तेलुगु फिल्म निर्माता बी गोपाल उर्फ बेजवाड़ा गोपाल को भारतीय सिनेमा में उनके समग्र योगदान के लिए चौथे सत्यजीत रे पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया है। गोपाल ने 30 फिल्मों तेलुगू फिल्मों और दो हिंदी फिल्मों का निर्देशन किया है। उन्हें मलयालम फिल्म निर्माता बालू किरियथ, संगीत निर्देशक पेरुम्बवूर जी० रवीन्द्रनाथ और अन्य के पैनल द्वारा चुना गया था।
• यह पुरस्कार सत्यजीत रे फिल्म सोसाइटी केरल, एक राज्य-आधारित संगठन द्वारा स्थापित किया गया है, इस पुरस्कार में 10,000 रुपये नकद पुरस्कार, एक स्मृति चिन्ह और एक पट्टिका शामिल है।

Tamil Nadu has been awarded a geographical indication (GI) as 'Kanyakumari clove'

• The unique clove spice grown in the hills of Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu has been awarded a geographical indication (GI) as ‘Kanyakumari clove’. In India, the total production of cloves is 1,100 metric tons and of this, 1,000 metric tons is produced in Tamil Nadu every year while 750 metric tons of cloves are produced in the Kanyakumari district alone.
• Apart from this, the traditional dye-painted figurative and patterned cloth called Karuppur kalamkari paintings and the wood carvings of Kallakurichi from Tamil Nadu have also received GI tags.

 The 2021 Global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)

• The 2021 Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) Report was jointly released by UNDP and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI).
• The report provides estimates on multidimensional poverty across 109 developing countries (with data from surveys ranging 2009-2019/2020); These include 26 low-income countries, 80 middle-income countries and 3 high-income countries. The index measures each person’s deprivations across 10 indicators divided into three equally weighted dimensions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the (ISpA) via video-conferencing

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Indian Space Association (ISpA) via videoconferencing. Its founding members include Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro, Nelco (Tata Group), OneWeb, Mapmyindia, Walchandnagar Industries and Ananth Technology Limited.
• Other core members include Godrej, Hughes India, Azista-BST Aerospace Private Limited, BEL, Centum Electronics and Maxar India.
• The ISpA is a private industry body that will act as a premier industry body for space and satellite companies in the country. ISpA will be represented by homegrown and global corporations with advanced capabilities in space and satellite technologies. ISpA will work towards boosting space technology in India, with focus on capacity building and space economic hubs and incubators in India.

The Indian Railways launched two long haul freight trains ‘Trishul’, ‘Garuda’

• The Indian Railways has launched two long haul freight trains “Trishul” and “Garuda” — which are twice or multiple times longer than the normal composition of freight trains. These long haul trains provide a very effective solution to the problem of capacity constraints in critical sections. • Trishul is the first long haul train of South Central Railway (SCR) and consists of 177 wagons, or equal to three freight trains. It was launched from the Kondapalli station of the Vijayawada division to the Khurda division of the East Coast Railway.
• The train ‘Garuda’ was launched from Raichur of Guntakal division to Manuguru of Secunderabad division. Both the long haul trains had empty open wagons to be used to load coal meant for predominantly thermal power stations.

 Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia flags off the Doon Drone Mela

• Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia has flagged off the Doon Drone Mela 2021 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Minister flagged off the event with a paragliding demonstration and also interacted with the drone companies exhibiting their prototypes at the Doon Drone Mela. The day marked the demonstration of the Drone & Aerosports Demonstrations that included a paragliding demonstration by the Border Security Force, a Paramotor demonstration by Harsh Sachan, and an agriculture spraying drone demonstration by IoTechWorld Aviation & Dhaksha.
• Furthermore, the event also included an emergency search & response drone demonstration with an indigenously 3D-printed drone by the Drone Application and Research Centre (DARC) & State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). It was followed by a brief survey drone demonstration by the Aarav Unmanned Systems (AUS) under the SVAMITVA Scheme along with a training drone demonstration by Sqn Ldr Varsha Kukreti (Retd).

 APPOINTMENT & RESIGNATION

President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the appointment of chief justices to eight high courts in the country

• The Government notified the appointments of eight and transfer of five chief justices of high courts. Eight High Courts will get new Chief Justices, and five Chief Justices have been transferred. The clearance in the 13 High Courts was considered crucial as some of them have been making do with Acting Chief Justices.

Five Chief Justices have been transferred:

• The government cleared the transfer of Tripura High Court Chief Justice A.A. Kureshi to the Rajasthan High Court.
• Justice Indrajit Mahanty, Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, would take over as Tripura Chief Justice.
• Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq of Madhya Pradesh has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
• Chief Justice Biswanath Somadder of the Meghalaya High Court has been transferred as the Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.
• Justice A.K. Goswami has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court. He is presently the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Newly appointed Chief Justice:

• Justice Rajesh Bindal, Acting Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court, was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.
• Justice Ranjit V. More has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
• Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, Acting Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
• Justice Prakash Srivastava, a Madhya Pradesh High Court judge, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.
• Justice R.V. Malimath has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
• Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
• Justice Aravind Kumar has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court.
• Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra would take over as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Renown actor Nedumudi Venu passed away

• National Award-winning actor Nedumudi Venu has passed away. He won three National Film Awards, and six Kerala State Film Awards for his performances. Nedumudi Venu began his career as a theatre artist with the plays of Kavalam Narayana Panicker.
• He made his debut in films with Thambu, directed by G Aravindan in 1978. Known for his work in Malayalam and Tamil movies, Venu acted in over 500 movies.

World Arthritis Day 2021: 12th  October

• The World Arthritis Day is observed every year on October 12 to raise awareness about arthritis, an inflammatory condition that causes pain and stiffness in joints that can worsen with age. This day was started by Arthritis and Rheumatism International (ARI) in 1996 in order to spread awareness about arthritis and encourage policymakers to help reduce the burden of arthritis. Telugu Filmmaker B Gopal Chosen for Satyajit Ray Award

• Well-known Telugu filmmaker B Gopal, alias Bejawada Gopal, has been chosen for the fourth Satyajit Ray Award for his overall contribution to Indian cinema. Gopal has directed 30 films Telugu films and two Hindi movies. He was selected by a panel comprising Malayalam filmmaker Balu Kiriyath, music director Perumbavoor G Raveendranath and others.
• The award is instituted by the Satyajit Ray Film Society Kerala, a state-based organisation, the award comprises Rs 10,000 cash prize, a memento, and a plaque.

Book ‘The Custodian of Trust A Banker’s Memoir’ by Rajnish Kumar

• Former Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI) Rajnish Kumar has come out with his memoir titled ‘The Custodian of Trust – A Banker’s Memoir’. The book has been published by Penguin Random House India.
• It gave a rare insight of how the financial system in our country works. The Custodian of Trust presents Kumar’s journey from a modest house in the old city of Meerut to being a probationary officer in SBI in 1980 and growing to the post of Chairman in 2017.
