पर्यावरण और वन मंत्रालय द्वारा अनुशंसित सभी आठ भारतीय समुद्र तटों को प्रतिष्ठित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ब्लू फ्लैग प्रमाणन से सम्मानित किया गया

• केंद्रीय पर्यावरण मंत्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने सूचित किया है कि भारत सरकार द्वारा अनुशंसित सभी आठ समुद्र तटों को प्रतिष्ठित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ब्लूफ्लिश प्रमाणन प्राप्त है।
• भारत इस तरह का उपलब्धि हासिल करने वाला पहला देश है, क्योंकि किसी भी अन्य ब्लूफ्लैग राष्ट्र को एक ही प्रयास में 8 समुद्र तटों के लिए सम्मानित नहीं किया गया है।
• ब्लू फ्लैग कार्यक्रम एक विश्व प्रसिद्ध पुरस्कार है, जो फाउंडेशन फॉर एनवायरनमेंटल एजुकेशन (FEE) द्वारा संचालित है, जिसका मुख्यालय कोपेनहेगन, डेनमार्क में है, जो समुद्र तटों को साफ और स्वच्छ रखने के लिए बेंचमार्क है।

 भारतीय बैडमिंटन ब्रांड ‘ट्रांसफॉर्म’ के ब्रांड एंबेसडर बने चेतन आनंद

• राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के पदक विजेता शटलर चेतन आनंद को भारत के पहले बैडमिंटन ब्रांड ‘ट्रांसफॉर्म’ ने अपना ब्रांड एंबेसडर नियुक्त किया है। इस ब्रांड को बुधवार को वर्चुअल रूप से शुरू किया गया।
• विश्व के पूर्व नंबर 10 खिलाड़ी और 2006 मेलबर्न राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के पुरुष एकल के कांस्य पदक विजेता आनंद को हैदराबाद में उनकी अकादमी के साथ इस घरेलू उपकरण निर्माता कंपनी ने अपने साथ जोड़ा है।
• अर्जुन पुरस्कार विजेता आनंद ने कहा, ‘‘पहले भारतीय बैडमिंटन ब्रांड से जुड़ना शानदार अहसास है। मैंने स्वयं ट्रासफॉर्म के रैकेट का उपयोग किया है और वे बहुत अच्छे स्तर के हैं। मुझे विश्वास है कि ट्रांसफॉर्म भारतीय बैडमिंटन में नये युग की शुरुआत करेगा। ’’

 बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

विश्व व्यापार संगठन ने 2020 में माल व्यापार के 9.2% की गिरावट के लिए पूर्वानुमान को संशोधित किया

• विश्व व्यापार संगठन ने इस वर्ष माल के व्यापार के लिए अपने पूर्वानुमान को एक स्तर पर उन्नत किया, जो वैश्विक वित्तीय संकट के दौरान गिरावट के बराबर था, लेकिन जून और जुलाई में एक पलटाव के कारण शुरुआत में बेहतर था।
• विश्व व्यापार संगठन ने कहा कि इस वर्ष वैश्विक व्यापार में 9.2% की गिरावट होगी और फिर 2021 में 7.2% की वृद्धि होगी।
• विश्व व्यापार संगठन ने अप्रैल में अनुमान लगाया था कि इस साल व्यापार और व्यापार में 13 से 32% की गिरावट होगी, डब्ल्यूटीओ प्रमुख द्वारा “ugly” के रूप में वर्णित आंकड़े, 2021 में 21 से 24% के बीच पलटाव करने से पहले अगर देशों ने मिलकर काम किया।

डब्ल्यूईएफ के साथ साझेदारी में उन्नत विनिर्माण केंद्र स्थापित करने के लिए तमिलनाडु सरकार

• तमिलनाडु की गाइडेंस, तमिलनाडु राज्य की नोडल इन्वेस्टमेंट प्रमोशन और सुविधा एजेंसी ने भारत के पहले एडवांस्ड मैन्युफैक्चरिंग हब (AMHUB) को तमिलनाडु में स्थापित करने के लिए वर्ल्ड इकोनॉमिक फोरम (WEF) के साथ साझेदारी की है।
• उन्नत विनिर्माण हब या AMHUB WEF द्वारा डिजाइन किए गए 19 प्लेटफार्मों में से एक है।
• यह प्लेटफ़ॉर्म क्षेत्रीय सफलता की कहानियों को प्रवर्तित करके, सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रथाओं को साझा करने और नई साझेदारियों को अंजाम देने के द्वारा चौथी औद्योगिक क्रांति (4IR) द्वारा लाए गए क्षेत्रीय अवसरों और चुनौतियों की पहचान करने और उन्हें संबोधित करने के लिए संपूर्ण क्षेत्रीय उत्पादन पारिस्थितिकी प्रणालियों पर केंद्रित है।

राफेल नडाल और इगा स्वोटेक ने फ्रेंच ओपन 2020 जीता

• टेनिस में, राफेल नडाल ने नोवाक जोकोविच को 6-0,6-2,7-5 से हराकर 11 अक्टूबर 2020 को पुरुषों का 2020 का फ्रेंच ओपन जीता। यह उनका 13 वां फ्रेंच ओपन पुरुष एकल खिताब और 20 वां ग्रैंड स्लैम खिताब है।
• महिलाओं की एकल में, पोलैंड की 19 वर्षीय इगा स्वोटेक ने 28 वर्षों में चैम्पियनशिप के इतिहास में खिताब जीतने वाली सबसे कम उम्र की महिला बनकर, एक ऐतिहासिक जीत दर्ज की ।

• लुईस हैमिल्टन (मर्सिडीज-ग्रेट ब्रिटेन) ने 11 अक्टूबर 2020 को जर्मनी के नूर्बुर्ग में नूरबुर्गिंग में आयोजित 2020 ईफेल ग्रां प्री जीता है।
• यह हैमिल्टन की सीजन की 7 वीं जीत और करियर की 91 वीं जीत है, जो अब तक केवल माइकल शूमाकर ने हासिल की थी।
• यह रेस 2020 फॉर्मूला वन वर्ल्ड चैंपियनशिप में ग्यारहवीं रेस थी और एइफ़ेल ग्रां प्री के इतिहास में पहली दौड़ थी।

वर्ल्ड आर्थराइटिस डे: 12 अक्टूबर

• World Arthritis Day: हर साल 12 अक्टूबर को विश्व स्तर पर विश्व गठिया दिवस मनाया जाता है। यह दिन लोगों में गठिया के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए मनाया जाता है, जो सूजन की ऐसी अवस्था है, जिसमे जोड़ों में दर्द और कठोरता का कारण बनती है, जो उम्र के साथ बढ़ सकती है।
• इस दिन की शुरुआत गठिया के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाने और नीति निर्माताओं को गठिया की समस्या को कम करने में मदद करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए 1996 में आर्थराइटिस और रूमेटिज़्म इंटरनेशनल (ARI) द्वारा शुरू की गई थी।

 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस 2020

• बालिका का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस (जिसे लड़कियों के दिन के रूप में भी जाना जाता है और लड़कियों का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस) 2012 से 11 अक्टूबर को प्रतिवर्ष मनाया जाता है।
• संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर शिक्षा, पोषण, बाल विवाह, कानूनी और चिकित्सा अधिकारों के बारे में अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर लड़कियों के सामने आने वाले मुद्दों के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए इस अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पर्यवेक्षण दिवस की घोषणा की गई थी।
• बालिका के 2020 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस की थीम "मेरी आवाज, हमारा समान भविष्य" है।

All eight Indian beaches recommended by Ministry of Environment and Forests awarded the prestigious International Blue Flag Certification

• The Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar has informed that all eight beaches recommended by the Government of India has got the coveted International Blueflag Certification.
• India is the first nation to achieve such a feat, as no other Blueflag nation has ever been awarded for 8 beaches in a single attempt.
• The Blue Flag programme is a world-renowned award operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark to benchmark the beaches as clean and hygienic.

CWG medallist Shuttler Chetan Anand named brand ambassador of India’s first-ever Badminton Brand ‘Transform’

• Commonwealth Games medallist in Badminton, Chetan Anand has been roped in as the brand ambassador for the India’s first-ever homegrown professional badminton brand “Transform”.
• Transform Badminton is India’s 1st professional badminton brand at par with the best racquets available in the market that are currently imported from abroad for playing in India.
• Transform racquets have been made out of the military grade graphite.

WTO revises up forecast for goods trade to 9.2% decline in 2020

• The World Trade Organization upgraded its forecast for trade in goods this year to a level still comparable to the decline during the global financial crisis, but better than initially predicted due to a rebound in June and July.
• The WTO said that global merchandise trade would fall by 9.2% this year and then increase by 7.2% in 2021.
• The WTO forecast in April that merchandise trade would decline by between 13 and 32% this year, figures described by the WTO chief as “ugly”, before rebounding by between 21 and 24% in 2021 if countries worked together.

Tamil Nadu government to set up advanced manufacturing hub in partnership with WEF

• Tamil Nadu’s Guidance, nodal investment promotion and facilitation agency of the state of Tamil Nadu has partnered with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to establish India’s first advanced manufacturing hub (AMHUB) in Tamil Nadu.
• The Advanced Manufacturing HUB or AMHUB is one of the 19 platforms designed by the WEF.
• This platform focuses on engaging entire regional production ecosystems to identify and address regional opportunities and challenges brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) by amplifying regional success stories, sharing best practices & incubating new partnerships.

Rafael Nadal and Iga Swiatek wins French Open 2020

• In tennis, Rafael Nadal beat Novak Djokovic 6-0,6-2,7-5 to win the men’s 2020 French Open on 11 October 2020. This is his 13th French Open men’s singles title and 20th Grand Slam title.
• In Women’s single, the 19-year-old Iga Swiatek of Poland, claimed a historic win, by becoming the youngest women to win the title in the history of the championship in 28 years.

 Lewis Hamilton wins 2020 Eifel Grand Prix

• Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes-Great Britain) has won the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix, held on 11 October 2020 at the Nurburgring in Nurburg, Germany.
• This is Hamilton’s 7th win of the season and 91st career race victory, which was till now achieved only by Michael Schumacher.
• The race was the eleventh race in 2020 Formula One World Championship and the first running in history of the Eifel Grand Prix.
• Max Verstappen (Red Bull – Netherlands) came second followed by Daniel Ricciardo (Renault, Australia) at third position.

World Arthritis Day

• On World Arthritis Day, 12 October, people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases from around the world join together to make their voices heard.
• Objective of the day is to raise awareness about arthritis, an inflammatory condition which causes pain and stiffness in joints which can worsen with age.
• This day was started by Arthritis and Rheumatism International (ARI) in 1996 in order to spread awareness about arthritis and encourage policymakers to help reduce burden of arthritis.
• The World Arthritis Day theme 2020 is Time2Work.

 International Day of the Girl Child

• International Day of the Girl Child (also known as Day of Girls and the International Day of Girls) is observed annually on October 11 since 2012.
• This international observance day was declared by the United Nations to raise awareness of issues facing girls internationally surrounding education, nutrition, child marriage, legal and medical rights.
• The theme for 2020 International Day of the Girl Child is “My voice, our equal future”.
