विश्‍व में सबसे पहले, क्यूबा ने बच्चों के लिए शुरू की कोविड जांच

• क्यूबा घरेलू वैक्सीन का उपयोग करके दो वर्ष की उम्र से अधिक बच्चों को C-19 के खिलाफ टीका लगाने वाला विश्‍व का पहला देश बन गया, हालाँकि अभी विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन द्वारा क्यूबा की घरेलू वैक्सीन को मान्यता नही दी गई है। 11.2 मिलियन लोगों की आबादी वाले कम्युनिस्ट द्वीप का लक्ष्य मार्च 2020 के बाद से अधिकांश हिस्सों में बंद पड़े स्कूलों को फिर से खोलने से पहले अपने सभी बच्चों को टीका लगाना है।
• आपको बता दें कि चीन, संयुक्त अरब अमीरात और वेनेजुएला जैसे देशों ने घोषणा की है कि वे छोटे बच्चों का टीकाकरण करने की योजना बना रहे हैं, लेकिन क्यूबा ऐसा करने वाला अब विश्‍व का पहला देश बन गया है। क्यूबा के टीके, पहली बार लैटिन अमेरिका में विकसित किए गए, लेकिन ये अंतरराष्ट्रीय, वैज्ञानिक सहकर्मी समीक्षा से नहीं गुजरे हैं।

 चीन ने पृथ्वी अवलोकन उपग्रह लॉन्च किया जो रेडियोधर्मी डेटा प्राप्त कर सकता है

• चीन ने उत्तरी चीन के शांक्सी प्रांत के ताइयुआन सैटेलाइट लॉन्च सेंटर से लॉन्ग मार्च -4C रॉकेट पर लोड करके एक नया पृथ्वी अवलोकन उपग्रह, Gaofen -5 02 अंतरिक्ष में सफलतापूर्वक लॉन्च किया। Gaofen-5 02 उपग्रह चीन के Gaofen पृथ्वी-अवलोकन उपग्रहों की श्रृंखला में 24 वां है, जो पर्यावरण संरक्षण के प्रयासों की निगरानी करता है और इसके प्राकृतिक संसाधनों की निगरानी को बढ़ावा देता है।
• Gaofen-5 02 एक हाइपरस्पेक्ट्रल उपग्रह है जिसका उपयोग व्यापक पर्यावरण निगरानी के लिए किया जाएगा, ताकि देश के वातावरण, पानी और भूमि की हाइपरस्पेक्ट्रल अवलोकन क्षमता में सुधार किया जा सके।

 विश्‍व का सबसे बड़ा कार्बन कैप्चर प्लांट आइसलैंड में खुला

• आइसलैंड में हवा से कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड को बाहर निकालने के लिए डिज़ाइन किए गए विश्‍व के सबसे बड़े संयंत्र का संचालन हो गया हैं। इस संयंत्र का नाम ओर्का (Orca) है, जिसका अर्थ आइसलैंडिक शब्द में Energy यानि ऊर्जा है। यह प्रति वर्ष 4,000 टन CO2 तक सोख लेगा।
• हवा से सीधे कैप्चर की गई कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड को 1,000 मीटर की गहराई पर भूमिगत रूप से जमा किया जाएगा, जहां इसे चट्टान में बदल दिया जाएगा।
• स्विस स्टार्ट-अप क्लाइमवर्क्स एजी के साथ साझेदारी में आइसलैंडिक कार्बन स्टोरेज फर्म कार्बफिक्स द्वारा सुविधा विकसित की गई है, जो सीधे हवा से कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड को कैप्चर करने में माहिर है।
• लॉन्च की गई तकनीक जलवायु परिवर्तन के खिलाफ लड़ाई में एक प्रमुख उपकरण बन सकती है।

भारतीय प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने 13वें ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन की अध्यक्षता की

• प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से 13वें ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन की अध्यक्षता की। भारत के नेतृत्व वाले शिखर सम्मेलन का विषय "BRICS@15: Intra-BRICS Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation and Consensus.” यानी ब्रिक्स@15: निरंतरता, समेकन और सहमति के लिए अंतर-ब्रिक्स सहयोग था। भारत द्वारा चुनी गई थीम ब्रिक्स की पंद्रहवीं वर्षगांठ को दर्शाती है, जिसे 2021 में मनाया जा रहा है। पीएम मोदी ने ‘Build-back Resiliently, Innovatively, Credibly and Sustainably’ के आदर्श वाक्य के तहत ब्रिक्स सहयोग को बढ़ाने का आह्वान किया।
• शिखर सम्मेलन का समापन 'नई दिल्ली घोषणा' को अपनाने के साथ हुआ। यह तीसरी बार था जब भारत ने ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन की मेजबानी की। इससे पहले भारत ने 2012 और 2016 में ब्रिक्स की अध्यक्षता की थी। साथ ही, यह दूसरी बार है जब प्रधान मंत्री मोदी ने ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन की अध्यक्षता की है। उन्होंने इससे पहले 2016 में गोवा शिखर सम्मेलन की अध्यक्षता की थी।

राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर भारतीय वायु सेना के पहले आपातकालीन लैंडिंग फील्ड का राजस्थान में उद्घाटन किया गया

• केंद्रीय रक्षा मंत्री, राजनाथ सिंह और केंद्रीय राजमार्ग मंत्री, नितिन गडकरी ने राजस्थान के एक राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर आपातकालीन लैंडिंग सुविधा का उद्घाटन किया। इस आपातकालीन लैंडिंग सुविधा का निर्माण राजस्थान के बाड़मेर में राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग (NH) 925A के सट्टा-गंधव खंड पर किया गया है। यह पहला मौका है जब भारतीय वायुसेना के विमान की आपात लैंडिंग के लिए राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग (एनएच-925) का इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा। भारतमाला परियोजना के तहत इस परियोजना की लागत ₹765.52 करोड़ है।
• भारतीय राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग प्राधिकरण (NHAI) ने IAF के लिए एक आपातकालीन लैंडिंग सुविधा (ELF) के रूप में NH-925A के सट्टा-गंधव खंड के 3 किमी के खंड को विकसित किया है।
• यह गगरिया-बखासर और सट्टा-गंधव खंड के नव विकसित टू-लेन पक्के स्ट्रेच का हिस्सा है, जिसकी कुल लंबाई 196.97 किमी है।

 नियुक्ति एवं इस्‍तीफे

राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने उत्तराखंड, पंजाब और तमिलनाडु के नए राज्यपालों की नियुक्ति की

• राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने सेना उपप्रमुख रहे रि. लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल गुरमीत सिंह, को उत्तराखंड का नया राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया है, जो कि बेबी रानी मौर्य के इस्तीफे के बाद खाली हो गया था। राष्ट्रपति भवन की विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार, राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने मौर्य का इस्तीफा स्वीकार कर लिया और सिंह को राज्य का नया राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया।
• राष्ट्रपति ने बनवारीलाल पुरोहित, जो वर्तमान में तमिलनाडु के राज्यपाल हैं, को पंजाब का राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया।
• वर्तमान में नागालैंड के राज्यपाल आरएन रवि को तमिलनाडु का राज्यपाल बनाया गया है।
• असम के राज्यपाल प्रोफेसर जगदीश मुखी को नियमित व्यवस्था होने तक अपने स्वयं के कर्तव्यों के अलावा नागालैंड के राज्यपाल के कार्यों का निर्वहन करने का अतिरिक्त कार्यभार सौपा है।
• राष्ट्रपति कार्यालय ने एक आधिकारिक विज्ञप्ति में उल्लेख किया कि नई नियुक्तियां उस तारीख से प्रभावी होंगी जब वे अपने संबंधित कार्यालयों का प्रभार ग्रहण करेंगे।

 एन. एस. राय को नेशनल फर्टिलाइजर्स लिमिटेड का नया सीएमडी नियुक्त किया गया

• सरकार के स्वामित्व वाली उर्वरक फर्म नेशनल फर्टिलाइजर्स लिमिटेड (NFL) ने निर्लेप सिंह राय को कंपनी का अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक नियुक्त किया है। एक विज्ञप्ति में, एनएफएल ने सूचित किया कि निर्लेप सिंह राय, निदेशक (तकनीकी), को उनके पदभार ग्रहण करने की तारीख से कंपनी के बोर्ड में अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।

हिमालय दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 09 सितंबर को आयोजित किया जाता है

• राष्ट्रीय स्वच्छ गंगा मिशन ने नौला फाउंडेशन के सहयोग से 09 सितंबर, 2021 को हिमालय दिवस का आयोजन किया। इस वर्ष की थीम 'हिमालय का योगदान और हमारी जिम्मेदारियां' है। यह आयोजन 'आजादी का अमृत महोत्सव' के चल रहे उत्सव का हिस्सा था।
• हिमालय दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 9 सितंबर को उत्तराखंड राज्य में मनाया जाता है। यह हिमालयी पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र और क्षेत्र के संरक्षण के उद्देश्य से मनाया जाता है। इसे 2015 में तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री द्वारा आधिकारिक तौर पर हिमालय दिवस के रूप में घोषित किया गया था।

हैदराबाद: त्रिची वर्कशॉप ने जीता सर्वश्रेष्ठ ऊर्जा कुशल इकाई पुरस्कार

• गोल्डन रॉक रेलवे वर्कशॉप (GOC), तिरुचिरापल्ली ने विभिन्न ऊर्जा संरक्षण उपायों को अपनाने और लागू करने के लिए भारतीय उद्योग परिसंघ (सीआईआई) से ऊर्जा प्रबंधन में उत्कृष्टता के लिए 22 वां राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार प्राप्त किया है। GOC वर्कशॉप भारतीय रेलवे की एकमात्र वर्कशॉप है जिसे इस वर्ष यह पुरस्कार मिला है।

भारत, एडीबी ने महाराष्ट्र में ग्रामीण संपर्क का विस्तार करने के लिए $300 मिलियन के ऋण पर हस्ताक्षर किए

• भारत सरकार और एशियाई विकास बैंक ने महाराष्ट्र राज्य में ग्रामीण अर्थव्यवस्था को बढ़ावा देने में मदद करने के लिए ग्रामीण कनेक्टिविटी में सुधार के लिए अतिरिक्त वित्तपोषण के रूप में 300 मिलियन अमरीकी डालर के ऋण पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। यह अगस्त 2019 में एडीबी द्वारा अनुमोदित 200 मिलियन अमरीकी डालर के वित्त पोषण के अतिरिक्त है।
• महाराष्ट्र ग्रामीण कनेक्टिविटी सुधार परियोजना के लिए अतिरिक्त वित्तपोषण से 34 जिलों में अतिरिक्त 1,100 ग्रामीण सड़कों और 230 पुलों की कुल लंबाई 2,900 किलोमीटर (किमी) में सुधार करने में मदद मिलेगी। अगस्त 2019 में स्वीकृत $200 मिलियन के वित्त पोषण के साथ चल रही परियोजना, पहले से ही पूरे महाराष्ट्र में 2,100 किलोमीटर ग्रामीण सड़कों की स्थिति और सुरक्षा में सुधार और रखरखाव कर रही है।

In world first, Cuba starts Covid jabs for toddlers

• Cuba became the first country in the world to vaccinate children from the age of two against C-19, using home-grown jabs not recognised by the World Health Organisation. The communist island of 11.2 million people aims to inoculate all its children before reopening schools that have been closed for the most part since March 2020.
• Countries such as China, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela have announced they plan to vaccinate younger children, but Cuba is the first to do so. The Cuban vaccines, the first developed in Latin America, have not undergone international, scientific peer review.

China launched Earth observation satellite that can obtain radioactive data

• China successfully launched a new Earth observation satellite, Gaofen-5 02, into space, aboard a Long March-4C rocket, from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in north China’s Shanxi Province. The Gaofen-5 02 satellite is the 24th in the series of Gaofen Earth-observation satellites of China, to monitor environmental protection efforts and boost its natural resources surveillance.
• Gaofen-5 02 is a hyperspectral satellite that will be used for comprehensive environmental monitoring, to improve the country’s hyperspectral observation capacity of the atmosphere, water and land.

 World's Largest Carbon Capture Plant Opens in Iceland

• The world’s largest plant designed to capture carbon dioxide out of the air began its operations in Iceland. The plant is named Orca, which means ‘Energy’ in Icelandic word. It will suck out up to 4,000 tons of CO2 per year.
• The carbon dioxide captured directly from the air will be deposited underground at a depth of 1,000 metres, where it would be turned into rock.
• The facility has been developed by Icelandic carbon storage firm Carbfix, in partnership with Swiss start-up Climeworks AG, which specialises in capturing carbon dioxide directly from the air.
• The technology launched may become a major tool in the fight against climate change.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi chairs 13th BRICS summit

• Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has chaired the 13th BRICS Summit, through video conferencing. The theme of the India-led Summit was “BRICS@15: Intra-BRICS Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation and Consensus.” The theme chosen by India reflects the fifteenth anniversary of BRICS, being observed in 2021. PM Modi called for enhanced BRICS cooperation under the motto of ‘Build-back Resiliently, Innovatively, Credibly and Sustainably’.
• The Summit concluded with the adoption of the ‘New Delhi Declaration’. This was the third time that India hosted the BRICS Summit. Prior to this India held the Presidency of the BRICS in 2012 and 2016. Also, this is the second time that Prime Minister Modi has chaired the BRICS Summit. He had previously chaired the Goa Summit in 2016.

Indian Air Force's first Emergency Landing Field on National Highway inaugurated in Rajasthan

• Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh and Union Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Emergency Landing Facility on a National Highway in Rajasthan. This emergency landing facility has been constructed on the Satta-Gandhav stretch of National Highway (NH) 925A in Barmer, Rajasthan. This is the first time that a national highway (NH-925) will be used for the emergency landing of IAF aircraft. The project will cost ₹765.52 crores under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.
• The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has developed a 3-km section of the Satta-Gandhav stretch of NH-925A, as an emergency landing facility (ELF) for the IAF.
• It is part of a newly developed two-lane paved shoulder of the Gagariya-Bakhasar and Satta-Gandhav section having a total length of 196.97 km.

 APPOINTMENT & RESIGNATION

President Ram Nath Kovind  Appointed new governors of Uttarakhand, Punjab, & Tamil Nadu

• President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, who retired as the deputy chief of Army, governor of Uttarakhand, a post which fell vacant after Baby Rani Maurya tendered her resignation. According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique, President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of Maurya and appointed Singh as the governor of the state.
• The President also appointed Banwarilal Purohit, currently the Governor of Tamil Nadu, as the Governor of Punjab.
• R.N.Ravi, presently the Governor of Nagaland, has been made the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
• Professor Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam is appointed to discharge the functions of the Governor of Nagaland in addition to his own duties until regular arrangements are made.
• The President’s office, in an official release, mentioned that the new appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.

 S. Rai Appointed as the new CMD of National Fertilizers Ltd

• State-owned fertiliser firm National Fertilizers Ltd (NFL) has Nirlep Singh Rai has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of the company. In a regulatory filing, NFL informed that Nirlep Singh Rai, Director (Technical), has been appointed as Chairman & Managing Director, on the Board of the company with effect from the date of his assumption of charge.
• Rai, who was born in August 1962, is a B.E (Instrumentation & Control) from Thapar University. Prior to his appointment as Chairman & Managing Director, he was holding the position of Director (Technical) in NFL. Rai had also held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd and he had also headed the Nangal Unit of NFL as Chief General Manager.

• The National Mission for Clean Ganga organized Himalayan Diwas on September 09, 2021, in association with Naula Foundation. This year’s theme is ‘Contribution of Himalayas and our responsibilities’. The event was part of the ongoing celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
• Himalaya Diwas is celebrated every year on 9th September in the state of Uttarakhand. It is celebrated with the aim to conserve the Himalayan ecosystem and region. It was officially declared as Himalaya Day in 2015 by the then Chief Minister.

Hyderabad: Trichy  Workshop bags best Energy Efficient Unit Award

• The Golden Rock Railway Workshop (GOC), Tiruchchirappalli has bagged 22nd National Award for Excellence in Energy Management from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for having adopted and implemented various energy conservation measures. GOC Workshop is the o¬nly workshop of Indian Railways to have received the award this year.
• The National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management is instituted by CII, to catalyze significant and innovative practices in the energy efficiency sector. CII conducts this annual event to recognize and award excellence in energy management among the industrial sector and railway workshops across the country and facilitate sharing of information o¬n best practices & technologies.

India, ADB sign $300 million loan to expand rural connectivity in Maharashtra

• The government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a USD 300 million loan as additional financing to scale up the improvement of rural connectivity to help boost the rural economy in the state of Maharashtra. This is in addition to USD 200 million financings, approved by ADB in August 2019.
• The additional financing for the ongoing Maharashtra Rural Connectivity Improvement Project will help improve an additional 1,100 rural roads and 230 bridges for a total length of 2,900 kilometres (km) in 34 districts. The ongoing project with $200 million financings, approved in August 2019, is already improving and maintaining the condition and safety of 2,100 km of rural roads across Maharashtra.
