कैबिनेट ने आत्‍मनिर्भर भारत रोजगार योजना को दी मंजूरी

• केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने महामारी रिकवरी फेज में औपचारिक क्षेत्र में रोजगार को बढ़ावा देने और नए रोजगार अवसरों को प्रोत्‍साहित करने के लिए आत्‍मनिर्भर भारत रोजगार योजना (ABRY) को अपनी मंजूरी दे दी है। साथ ही ABRY, आत्‍मनिर्भर भारत पैकेज 3.0 के तहत रोजगार के नए अवसरों के सृजन को प्रोत्साहित करेगा।

योजना के बारे में:

• मंत्रिमंडल ने मौजूदा वित्तीय वर्ष के लिए 1,584 करोड़ रुपये की धनराशि और पूरी योजना अवधि 2020-2023 के लिए 22,810 करोड़ रुपये के व्‍यय को मंजूरी दी है।
• यह योजना 1 अक्टूबर, 2020 और उसके बाद या 30 जून, 2021 तक लगे नए कर्मचारियों के संबंध में दो साल के लिए सब्सिडी प्रदान करेगी।
• सरकार दो साल के लिए 1,000 कर्मचारियों को रोजगार देने वाले प्रतिष्ठानों में नए कर्मचारियों के संबंध में 12 प्रतिशत कर्मचारियों के योगदान और 12 प्रतिशत नियोक्ताओं के योगदान यानी ईपीएफ के लिए 24 प्रतिशत मजदूरी का भुगतान करेगी।
• सरकार 1000 कर्मचारी वाले रोजगार प्रदाता संगठनों में दो वर्ष की अवधि के लिए 12 प्रतिशत कर्मचारी योगदान और 12 प्रतिशत नियोक्‍ता योगदान (दोनों) वेतन भत्तों का 24 प्रतिशत ईपीएफ में योगदान देगी।
• यह ईपीएफ अंशदान के केवल कर्मचारियों के हिस्से का भुगतान करेगा यानी जिन रोजगार प्रदाता संगठनों में 1000 से अधिक कर्मचारी हैं वहां सरकार नए कर्मचारियों के संदर्भ में दो वर्ष की अवधि के लिए ईपीएफ में केवल 12 प्रतिशत कर्मचारी योगदान देगी।

योजना के पात्र:

• कोई कर्मचारी जिसका मासिक वेतन 15,000 रुपये से कम है और वह किसी ऐसे संस्‍थान में काम नहीं कर रहा था जो 1 अक्‍टूबर, 2020 से पहले कर्मचारी भविष्‍य निधि संगठन (ईपीएफओ) से पंजीकृत था और उसके पास इस अवधि से पहले यूनिवर्सल एकाउंट नंबर या ईपीएफ सदस्‍य खाता नंबर नहीं था, वह इस योजना के लिए पात्र होगा।
• कोई भी ईपीएफ सदस्‍य जिसके पास यूनिवर्सल एकाउंट नंबर है और उसका मासिक वेतन 15,000 रुपये से कम है और यदि उसने कोविड महामारी के दौरान 01.03.2020 से 30.09.2020 की अवधि में अपनी नौकरी छोड़ दी और उसे ईपीएफ के दायरे में आने वाले किसी रोजगार प्रदाता संस्‍थान में 30.09.2020 तक रोजगार नहीं मिला है, वह भी इस योजना का लाभ लेने के लिए पात्र है।

 खेल

IOC ने ब्रेकडांसिंग को दिया ओलंपिक गेम्स का दर्जा

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति (International Olympic Committee) ने नए और युवा दर्शकों को आकर्षित करने के उद्देश्य से ओलंपिक में नई एंट्री के रूप में ‘Breakdancing’ को एक आधिकारिक ओलंपिक खेल के रूप में पंजीकृत किया है। ओलंपिक आयोजन में ब्रेकडांसिंग को ‘Breaking’ के नाम से जाना जाएगा।
• ब्रेकिंग 2024 पेरिस गेम्स (2024 ग्रीष्मकालीन ओलंपिक) से ओलंपिक खेलों में अपनी शुरुआत करेगा। वहीँ याद रखना चाहिए कि टोक्यो गेम्स 2021 (पहले 2020 के ग्रीष्मकालीन ओलंपिक) में तीन नए खेल स्केटबोर्डिंग, स्पोर्ट क्लाइम्बिंग और सर्फिंग अपना ओलंपिक डेब्यू करेंगे।

मालदीव की जगह अब मेडागास्कर करेगा 2023 इंडियन ओसियन आइलैंड गेम्स की मेजबानी

• मेडागास्कर को C-19 महामारी के चलते मालदीव में आयोजित होने वाले 2023 इंडियन ओसियन आइलैंड गेम्स की मेजबानी सौंपी गई है। इस आयोजन का जिम्मा पिछले साल मालदीव को सौंपा गया था, लेकिन इंडियन ओसियन आइलैंड गेम्स महासंघ के सदस्यों ने इन खेलों को मेडागास्कर में ट्रासफर किए जाने के लिए मतदान किया।
• यह निर्णय मालदीव में C-19 संकट के दौरान कार्यक्रम के आयोजन में सामने आ रही चुनौतियों के परिणामस्वरूप किया गया है। मालदीव ने 2023 खेलों को 2025 तक स्थगित करने का अनुरोध किया था, लेकिन IOIGF ने मल्टी-स्पोर्ट इवेंट के संस्करणों के बीच छह साल का गैप होने बचने के लिए इससे इनकार कर दिया।

 नियुक्ति एवं इस्तीफे

जेना वोल्ड्रिज चुनी गई वर्ल्ड स्क्वैश फेडरेशन की नई अध्यक्ष

• इंग्लैंड की जेना वोल्ड्रिज (Zena Wooldridge) को वर्ल्ड स्क्वैश फेडरेशन का अध्यक्ष चुना गया है। वह 1967 में स्थापित फेडरेशन की 10 वीं WSF अध्यक्ष होंगी। वह न्यूजीलैंड की सूसी सिमकोक (Susie Simcock) के बाद अध्यक्ष बनने वाली दूसरी महिला हैं।
• वह फ्रांस से निवर्तमान अध्यक्ष जैक्स फोंटेन की जगह लेंगी। इससे पहले वह 2013-2019 के दौरान यूरोपीय स्क्वैश फेडरेशन के अध्यक्ष के रूप में छह साल काम कर चुकी है।

 एनिका सोरेनस्टैम होंगी इंटरनेशनल गोल्फ फेडरेशन की नई अध्यक्ष

• इंटरनेशनल गोल्फ फेडरेशन (IGF) ने एनिका सोरेनस्टैम (Annika Sorenstam) को नया अध्यक्ष चुना है, उनकी नियुक्ति 1 जनवरी, 2021 से प्रभावी होगी।
• वह वर्तमान IGF अध्यक्ष पीटर डॉसन की जगह लेंगी, जो 10 साल तक संगठन का नेतृत्व और सेवा करने के बाद पद हट रहे है। सोरेनस्टैम, एलपीजीए टूर की 72 बार विजेता और स्वीडन की पूर्व नंबर 1 खिलाड़ी है।

 कुवैत अमीर ने शेख सबा अल-खालिद को फिर नियुक्त किया प्रधान मंत्री

• कुवैत अमीर शेख नवाफ अल-अहमद अल-सबाह द्वारा पुनः शेख सबा अल-खालिद अल-सबाह को कुवैत का प्रधानमंत्री नियुक्त किया गया है। यह कदम शेख सबा द्वारा संसदीय चुनावों के बाद एक प्रक्रियात्मक प्रक्रिया के तहत अपनी सरकार का इस्तीफा सौंपने के दो दिन बाद आया है।
• देश के सुलतान ने नई सरकार बनाने के लिए मौजूदा प्रधानमंत्री के इस्तीफे को स्वीकार कर लिया। शेख नवाफ जिन्होंने अपने भाई की मृत्यु के बाद सितंबर में खाड़ी देश का नेतृत्व संभाला था।

यूनिसेफ डे: 11 दिसंबर

• प्रतिवर्ष 11 दिसंबर को दुनिया भर में यूनिसेफ दिवस मनाया जाता है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा 11 दिसंबर, 1946 को यूनिसेफ का गठन वर्ल्ड वार-II के कारण हताहत हुए बच्चों के स्वास्थ्य, पोषण, शिक्षा और सामान्य कल्याण में सुधार के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाल आपातकालीन कोष के रूप में किया गया था।
• यूनिसेफ का नाम बाद में संयुक्त राष्ट्र अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाल आपातकालीन कोष (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) बदलकर से संयुक्त राष्ट्र बाल कोष (United Nations Children’s Fund) कर दिया गया, हालांकि, इसे पिछले नाम के आधार पर लोकप्रिय इसके छोटे नाम से जाना जाता रहा है।

 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पर्वत दिवस: 11 दिसंबर

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पर्वत दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 11 दिसंबर को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। यह दिन पर्वतों के महत्व के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करने, पहाड़ के विकास में अवसरों और बाधाओं को उजागर करने और गठबंधनों के निर्माण के लिए मनाया जाता है जो दुनिया भर के पर्वतीय लोगों और वातावरण में सकारात्मक बदलाव लाएगा।
• "माउंटेन बायोडायवर्सिटी" इस वर्ष के अंतर्राष्ट्रीय माउंटेन डे का विषय है, इसलिए उनकी समृद्ध जैव विविधता का जश्न मनाने के साथ-साथ उनके सामने आने वाले खतरों का भी समाधान करें।
• पहाड़ों के सतत विकास को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा 2003 में दिन की स्थापना की गई थी। संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने 2002 को संयुक्त राष्ट्र के पर्वतीय वर्ष घोषित किया था।

सिंगापुर में आयोजित की जाएगी वर्ल्ड इकोनॉमिक फोरम 2021 की वार्षिक बैठक

• विश्व आर्थिक मंच (World Economic Forum) ने अपनी वर्ष 2021 की वार्षिक बैठक सिंगापुर में आयोजित करने का फैसला किया है, पहले इसे ल्यूसर्न-बर्गेनस्टॉक, स्विट्जरलैंड में 13 से 16 मई 2021 के दौरान आयोजित करने के लिए निर्धारित किया गया था। स्विट्जरलैंड से वार्षिक फोरम को स्थानांतरित करने का निर्णय यूरोप में बढ़ती C -19 महामारी को देखते हुए लिया गया है।
• वर्ष 1971 में हुई स्थापना के बाद से यह दूसरी मौका होगा जब फोरम को स्विट्जरलैंड के बाहर आयोजित किया जाएगा। इससे पहले साल 2002 में, न्यूयॉर्क में 9/11 हमले के बाद अमेरिकी लोगों के साथ एकजुटता दिखाने के लिए मंच का आयोजन किया गया था। यह बैठक आम तौर पर स्विट्जरलैंड के दावोस में आयोजित की जाती है, लेकिन मौजूदा कोविड के चलते बैठक को पहली बार अक्टूबर 2020 में ल्यूसर्न-बर्गेनस्टॉक, स्विट्जरलैंड में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया था। अब पुनः इसके आयोजन स्थल को सिंगापुर में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया है। हालंकि इसके 2022 में स्विट्जरलैंड के दावोस वापस आने की उम्मीद है।

वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने फोर्ब्स 2020 की सूची में हासिल किया 41 वां स्थान

• वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने फोर्ब्स द्वारा जारी की जाने वाली विश्व की 100 सबसे शक्तिशाली महिलाओं की सूची में 41 वां स्थान हासिल किया है। यह दूसरा मौका है जब उन्हें इस सूची में रखा गया है, इससे 2019 में वह 34 वें स्थान पर रहीं थी। भारत की प्रमुख बिजनेसवुमन और बायोकॉन लिमिटेड की चेयरमैन किरण मजूमदार-शॉ ने भी इस सूची में 68 वें स्थान हासिल किया है। इस सूची में सबसे लंबी छलांग संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका की नई निर्वाचित उप-राष्ट्रपति कमला हैरिस ने तीसरा और बांग्लादेश की प्रधान मंत्री शेख हसीना वाजेद ने 39 वां स्थान हासिल करके लगाई है।

बैंक ऑफ बड़ौदा ने महिलाओं के लिए शुरू की आत्मनिर्भर योजना

• बैंक ऑफ बड़ौदा (BoB) ने हाल ही में अपने बड़ौदा गोल्ड लोन के तहत आत्मनिर्भर महिला योजना की शुरूआत की है। इस योजना का उद्देश्य भारत की आत्मनिर्भर महिला को लक्षित करना है। इस योजना के तहत, बैंक महिलाओं को 0.50 प्रतिशत की रियायत पर ऋण उपलब्ध कराएगा। गोल्ड लोन स्कीम के तहत बैंक एग्री-गोल्ड लोन 0.25 प्रतिशत रियायत और रिटेल ऋण 0.50 प्रतिशत की रियायत पर देगा।
• यह आत्मनिर्भर योजना विशेष रूप से महिलाओं को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने में मदद करने के लिए शुरू की गई है। यह योजना बेंगलुरु की बीओबी शाखा राममूर्ति नगर में शुरू की गई और इसे देश के 18 क्षेत्रों के अंतर्गत आने वाली 18 शाखाओं में शुरू करने की योजना है।

NATIONAL

Cabinet approves Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana

• The Union Cabinet has given its approval for Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY) to boost employment in the formal sector by encouraging the businesses to do fresh hiring amid the pandemic. ABRY will also incentivize the creation of new employment opportunities under Atmanirbhar Bharat Package 3.0.

About the Yojana:

• The Cabinet has approved an expenditure of ₹ 1,584 crores for the current financial year and ₹ 22,810 crores for the entire scheme period from 2020 to 2023.
• The scheme will provide subsidy for two years in respect of new employees engaged on or after October 1, 2020, and up to June 30, 2021.
• The government will pay both 12 per cent employees’ contribution and 12 per cent employers’ contribution i.e. 24 per cent of wages towards EPF in respect of new employees in establishments employing up to 1,000 employees for two years.
• It will pay only employees’ share of EPF contribution i.e. 12 per cent of wages in respect of new employees in establishments employing more than 1,000 employees for two years.

Eligibility

• An employee drawing monthly wage of less than ₹ 15,000 who was not working in any establishment registered with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) before October 1, 2020, and did not have a Universal Account Number (UAN) or EPF Member account number prior to October 1, 2020, will be eligible for the benefit.
• Any EPF member possessing Universal Account Number (UAN) drawing monthly wage of less than ₹ 15,000 who made exit from employment during COVID pandemic from March 1, 2020, to September 30, 2020, and did not join employment in any EPF covered establishment up to September 30, 2020 will also be eligible to avail benefit.

IOC gives Olympic status to Breakdancing

• The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has registered ‘Breakdancing’ as the newest entry into Olympics and an official Olympic sport, with the aim to attract a new and younger audience. Breakdancing will be known as ‘Breaking’ in Olympics event.
• Breaking will make its Olympic Games debut at the 2024 Paris Games (2024 Summer Olympics). It must be remembered that three new sports, skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing, will make their Olympic debuts at the Tokyo Games 2021 (earlier 2020 Summer Olympics).

Madagascar replaces Maldives as host of 2023 Indian Ocean Island Games

• Madagascar has replaced the Maldives as the host of the 2023 Indian Ocean Island Games due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. The event had been awarded to the Maldives last year, but members of the Indian Ocean Island Games Federation voted to move the Games to Madagascar.
• The decision came as a result of the challenges the Maldives is facing in organising the event during the coronavirus crisis. The Maldives had requested pushing back the 2023 Games to 2025 but the IOIGF was keen to avoid a six-year void between editions of the multi-sport event.

Zena Wooldridge Elected As World Squash Federation President

• Zena Wooldridge from England has been elected as the World Squash Federation President. She will become the 10th WSF President to serve since the Federation’s inception in 1967.
• She is the second female President after New Zealand’s Susie Simcock. She replaces outgoing President Jacques Fontaine, from France. She previously served six years as President of the European Squash Federation between 2013-2019.

 Annika Sorenstam elected president of International Golf Federation

• The International Golf Federation (IGF) elected Annika Sorenstam as its new president effective January 1, 2021.
• IGF President, Peter Dawson, is stepping down after 10 years of leadership and service. Sorenstam, a 72-time winner on the LPGA Tour and former No. 1 from Sweden.

 Kuwait emir reappoints Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid as prime minister

• Kuwait Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has re-appointed Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah as prime minister. The move comes two days after Sheikh Sabah submitted his government’s resignation in a procedural step following parliamentary polls.
• The country’s ruler accepted the premier’s resignation before reassigning him to form the upcoming government. Sheikh Nawaf who took over the leadership of the Gulf state in September after the death of his brother also asked Sheikh Sabah to nominate members of a new cabinet. The new cabinet would have to be approved by the Emir.

UNICEF Day: 11 December

• Every year the UNICEF Day is observed on December 11. The United Nations General Assembly created UNICEF on December 11, 1946, as the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund to improve the health, nutrition, education, and general welfare of children devastated due to World War II.
• UNICEF’s name was subsequently changed from United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund to United Nations Children’s Fund though, it continued to be known by the popular acronym based on the previous title.

 International Mountain Day: 11 December

• The International Mountain Day is observed globally on December 11 every year. The day is celebrated to create awareness about the importance of mountains to life, to highlight the opportunities and constraints in mountain development and to build alliances that will bring positive change to mountain peoples and environments around the world.
• “Mountain biodiversity” is the theme of this year’s International Mountain Day, so let’s celebrate their rich biodiversity, as well as address the threats they face.
• The day was established by the UN General Assembly in 2003 to encourage sustainable development of mountains. United Nations had declared 2002 as the UN International Year of Mountains.

World Economic Forum 2021 to be held in Singapore

• The World Economic Forum (WEF) has decided to host its 2021 annual meeting in Singapore, which earlier was scheduled to take place in Lucerne-Burgenstock, Switzerland from 13-16 May 2021. The decision to shift the annual forum from Switzerland has been taken in view of the Covid-19 situation in Europe.
• This would be the second time since its inception in 1971 that the forum will be held outside Switzerland. In 2002, the forum was held in New York to show solidarity with the American people in the aftermath of 9/11. The meeting is generally held in Davos, Switzerland, but amid covid, the meeting was first shifted to Lucerne-Burgenstock, Switzerland in October 2020. Now again the venue has been shifted to Singapore. It would return to Davos, Switzerland, in 2022.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at 41 on Forbes 2020 list

• Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has grabbed the 41st spot in the 2020 list of Forbes 100 most powerful women in the world. This is the second time she features in the list, in 2019 ranked at 34 and ranked 41st in 2020.
• India’s leading Businesswomen, Kiran Mazumdar-shaw, Chairman of Biocon Limited also featured in the list at 68th position. The list also saw the biggest jump in ranking to 3rd position by Kamala Harris, Vice President-Elect of USA, and Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina Wajed is ranked at 39.

BoB launches Atmanirbhar Women Gold Scheme

• Bank of Baroda (BoB) has recently launched the Atmanirbhar Women Scheme as part of its Baroda Gold Loan. This scheme aims to target the self-reliant woman in India. Under the scheme, the bank is offering loans at 0.50 per cent concession for women. The bank under the gold loan scheme is offering agri-gold loan at 0.25 per cent concession and for a retail loan at 0.50 per cent concession.
• This Atmanirbhar scheme is exclusively meant for helping women to be self-reliant. The scheme was launched at BOB’s Ramamurthy Nagar branch in Bengaluru and simultaneously in 18 branches coming under 18 zones in the country.
