The Ministry of Education has formed a 7 member committee to conduct a Common Aptitude Test for all the central universities. This test is a centralized aptitude test for many universities including prominent universities like the University of Delhi, Central University of Punjab, Jamia Millia Islamia Banaras Hindu University, and Jawaharlal Nehru University. The 7 member committee is constituted to recommend modalities for the high-quality aptitude test.
This test is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The High-Quality Aptitude Test is expected to come into effect for the 2021-22 academic session. The test would be a computer-based test and would have a general aptitude test as well as subject-specific tests. This test would test the students' verbal, qualitative, and logical skills.

As per the initial recommendations made by the committee, the aptitude test is conducted twice a year. However, it is conducted only once for the 2020-21 academic session.
This move is expected to reduce the dependency on class 12 board exams and the effect of high cut off marks for good colleges. This test would provide the student with an option of appearing for the exam more than once and eliminate the requirement of appearing for different Central Universities entrance exams.
