In order to narrow down applicants for its numerous undergraduate programs, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), one of the top educational institutions in the nation recognized by the Ministry of Education, opted to adopt the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) normalization score since last year. 

CUET was introduced to give an equal opportunity for aspirants across India and reduce the overall burden of attending various entrance exams as well.

Once CUET 2024 concludes; several universities, including Banaras Hindu University, counseling admission portals are open NOW! 

This article will walk you through the admission process at BHU.

  • Visit the website bhuonline.in or use the link above
  • Scroll down and click on "click for registration"
  • Read the instructions and agree to have read them
  • Towards the right-hand side, click on the option "New Registration". 
  • Start filling your application form with information like NTA application number, name, DOB, Gender, Parents' name, and Email ID. 
  • Create a BHU Portal password and Captcha information and sign up. 
  • Your Email ID will have a verification link to log in to BHU. 
  • Use the link in the email and start filling in the information like - Applicant's details, Educational details, Select the desired program, Upload photo and signature, Document Upload, Bank account details, Preview and Confirm, and lastly, check the status. 
  • Complete the registration process once the information is filled in and documents have been uploaded. 
  • Check the preview process and submit.

Note: Once the BHU CUET results are OUT, the BHU CUET registration window is open for 3 days, during which you must fill in your CUET result score on the BHU admission portal. Soon after, the BHU counselling process will be conducted for 8-9 days.

Honours Allotment:
Based on the merit obtained by a candidate in allotment of Honours under the B.A. Social Sciences group in the following honours would be made at the time of counselling: Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Mathematics, Statistics, and Geography.
Shastri (Hons.)/B.A. Shastri (Hons.)/B.A. in Shastri Section II (Sanskrit) for admission to BHU. (a) Passed MADHYAMA Examination of BHU/Madhyama/Uttar Madhyama/Upa Shastri/Intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum 50% marks in the aggregate and (b) Sanskrit must be one of the subjects in the concerned examination, and candidate should have passed in this subject also. The candidates having passed a one-year certificate course in Sanskrit of BHU after passing the 10+2 examination with 50% marks in aggregate both in the 10+2 examination and the certificate examination are also eligible. AGE: Not to be more than 22 years on 1st July 2024 (applicant should be born on or after 2nd July of 2001). Honours Allotment: Based on the merit obtained by a candidate in allotment of Honours under the Shastri (Hons.) in the following honours would be made at the time of counselling: Rigveda, Yajurveda (Sukla), Yajurveda (Krishna), Samveda, Vyakarna, Sahitya (Poetics & Dramaturgy), Sahitya (Poetry, Prose, Drama), Vedanta, Nyaya, Sankhyayoga, Purana, Jain Darshan, Bauddha Darshan, Dharmasastra, Mimansa, Jyotish (Ganit), Jyotish (Falit), Dharmagama.
B.A. LL.B. (Hons) B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Section I A Language Test - (Hindi or English) and Section II Legal Studies; Section III General Test for admission in BHU. The applicant who has successfully completed/ is appearing in Senior Secondary School (10+2) or equivalent (Such as 11+1, “A” level in Senior School Leaving Certificate course) examination from a recognized University of India or outside or from a Senior Secondary Board or equivalent constituted or recognized by the Union or by a State Government or from any equivalent institution from a foreign country recognized by the Government of that country for the purpose of issue of qualifying certificate on successful completion of the course. However, the applicant who has obtained 10+2 or Graduation/Post-graduation through an open Universities System directly without having any basic qualification for pursuing such studies shall not be eligible for admission to a 5-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Course. Minimum marks in qualifying examination for admission not below 50% of total marks in case of General category applicants, 45% in case of OBCs and 40% in case of SCs & STs applicant.
B.Sc. (Hons.) B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics Section II: 1. Physics; 2. Chemistry; 3. Maths for admission to BHU. Passed 10+2 or equivalent Examination securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in the subjects Physics, Maths plus any one of the following: Chemistry, Statistics, Geology, Computer Science, Information Technology and Geography and must have passed in each of the concerned three subjects (as supported by the Certificate issued by the Examining body). AGE: Not to be more than 23 years on 1st July 2022 (applicant should be born on or after 2nd July of 2001).
Honours Allotment:
Based on the merit obtained by a candidate in allotment of Honours under the B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics group in the following honours would be made at the time of counselling: Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics
B.Sc. (Hons.) B.Sc. (Hons.) Biology Section II: 1. Physics; 2. Chemistry; 3. Biology for admission to BHU. Passed 10+2 or equivalent Examination securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in the subjects Physics, Chemistry plus any one of the following: Biology, Geology and Geography and must have passed in each of the concerned three subjects (as supported by the Certificate issued by the Examining body). AGE: Not to be more than 22 years on 1st July 2024 (applicant should be born on or after 2nd July of 2001).
B.Sc. (Hons.) - Agriculture B. Sc (Hons.) Ag. / B.Sc. (Hons.) Ag. -RGSC - (Under Special Course of Study) Section II : (Physics, Chemistry and Maths) OR (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) OR Biology, Chemistry and Agriculture) for admission to BHU. A candidate shall be eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) Ag, if he/she has passed 10+2/Intermediate examination in Agriculture or in Science (with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology) OR equivalent examination recognized by the University, securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate. AGE: Not to be less than 16 years and not more than 25 years on 1st July 2024 (applicant should be born on or after 2nd July.’ 1998 and on or before 2nd July, 2007).
B.Tech. B.Tech. in Food Technology Section II: Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics for admission to BHU. Passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) OR Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (PCMB) with English from a Board/University recognized by the Institute/Board with at least 50% marks or equivalent G.P.A. in aggregate. AGE: Not to be more than 23 years on 1st July 2024 (applicant should be born on or after 2nd July of 2000).
B.Tech. B.Tech. in Dairy Technology Section II: Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics for admission to BHU. Passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) OR Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (PCMB) with English from a Board/University recognized by the Institute/Board with at least 50% marks or equivalent G.P.A. in aggregate. AGE: Not to be more than 23 years on 1st July 2024 (applicant should be born on or after 2nd July 2000).
B.P.A. ( Bachelor of Performing Arts) BPA in Instrumental Sitar Section II : Performing Arts The applicant should have Passed 10+2 OR equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and have Music/Dance as one of the concerned subjects. For Music - (North Indian Classical Vocal /Instrumental -Sitar/Violin/Flute/Tabla) and for Dance - (Kathak/Bharatanatyam) with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate in Practical Examination – Vocal/Instrumental/Dance only. In order to narrow down applicants for its numerous undergraduate programs, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), one of the top educational institutions in the nation recognized by the Ministry of Education, opted to adopt the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) normalization score since last year. 

CUET was introduced to give an equal opportunity for aspirants across India and reduce the overall burden of attending various entrance exams as well.

Once CUET 2024 concludes; several universities, including Banaras Hindu University, counseling admission portals are open NOW!

  • Towards the right-hand side, click on the option "New Registration". 
  • Start filling your application form with information like NTA application number, name, DOB, Gender, Parents' name, and Email ID. 
  • Create a BHU Portal password and Captcha information and sign up. 
  • Your Email ID will have a verification link to log in to BHU. 
  • Use the link in the email and start filling in the information like - Applicant's details, Educational details, Select the desired program, Upload photo and signature, Document Upload, Bank account details, Preview and Confirm, and lastly, check the status. 
  • Complete the registration process once the information is filled in and documents have been uploaded.
